Sam's sent me the wrong item--a $13 small electric item.  They said keep this and we'll send you the right one.  The did in about a week.  Now 3 weeks later a second right item arrived.

Not sure I will even contact them.  It probably would cost them more to get it back than to say keep it again.

When QVC's warehouse burned, they sent me a duplicate necklace and I contacted them a number of times and got no response.  Stuff happens sometimes and every situation is different.

Why would calling Macy's to advise them of their error and ask what they want you to do make you a "goody goody"?

Isn't doing the right thing something that should be automatic?

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I would wait to see if they show up on the bill and if not, just donate them someplace.

I wouldn't bother returning socks.    The paperwork involved would cost MORE than the value of the item...

Of course...if it was an Armani suit...I might try "making a deal" with them...

I wouldn't bother returning them and certainly would not call Macy's about it.  If you feel "guilty" donate them.  This is not a big ticket item.

that happened to me from QVC several years--like 30+, I think--I ordered 1 stained glass- type small angel night light and got a box of 6--and was told to keep them. And think that happened with AMZ too--and was told the same.

@Jordan2 .............Returning them is the right thing to do.  Anything else is theft plain and simple.

To call about sox (unless lf course they were very very expensive socks) would tie up someone in customer service and make the wait longer for others.

It would likely cost the company more in pickup and shipping than the socks were worth PLUS the time to get the socks back and someone would have to decide what to do with them.

All for a pair of socks? No.  Just let it be.

"Integrity. Doing the right thing even when no one is watching".

I still don't understand how doing the right thing makes you a "goody goody". I'm so glad I'm a "goody goody".
