My father was supposed  to be on the Andrea Doria on his way back to the States from Italy.  For some reason he had not gotten  on the ship.   But my mother was not aware of it yet.  She almost had a coronary.  Mom and I were waiting for him to come home to Brooklyn.  I was only 3 months old at the time.  Dad was actually coming home to meet me for the first time.   I was born in Brooklyn in April 1956.   He was in Italy studying medicine until he came home in July 1956.
