Hi AK girl
He was from Missouri but he did move out to Hollywood at some point. I think he was on national TV.
Fascinating guy, very talented, at one point he starred as a magician. He never spoke on this shows that I remember. I suppose because he didn't have an Indian accent.
@Noel7 ~ I'm from the big🍎. gonna google the fellow.

I remember it seemed like he was always on TV wearing a turban, staring out at us with those eyes.
I was surfing through the PBS stations late last night and came across an interview with him by a man studying the era of lounge musicians.
It was so fascinating, I did a little research on him. He was really an African-American man. Remember, back then, the 50s and 60s, so many stars had created backgrounds and names.
OMG! @Noel7 I have a story to tell you! Back when I was a young girl, my mother and I was in a shopping mall in the Bellevue, Wa, area where we live. This was probably early 1960's. Korla Pandit was playing Piano there. Not sure why....He saw my Mother in audience of people listening to him play. She was strikingly beautiful ,had natural platinum white hair. She was very pretty and always stood out with her beauty... My Mother must have been late 30's.... she modeled before marrying my father.
Anyway, he came over to her and introduced himself. He was fascinated by her. My Mother invited him to dinner at our home while he was visiting....he came to dinner! My Father was gratious when he came to our home ... I think he knew that Korla liked my Mom! It just made him proud to be her husband as Korla was VERY taken by her! I think if she had been single he would have whisked her away!
I have never ever spoke to anyone who remembered him so your thread was so cool! Hope you enjoyed my story.

I *LOVE* your story @SeaMaiden
And I'm so glad you shared it here! Wow, that was very generous of your mother to invite him to dinner. And wonderful of your dad to appreciate and feel comfortable with your Mom's beauty!
I have one question... did Korla wear his turban? This is such a fun story of yours ![]()

@Noel7 I was quite young....but, I remember him coming to our home and I believe he did wear the turban. Again it was many years ago and not a real clear memory.
