I start out folding, but by the end it turns into more of a roll.

I wash the sheets and put them right back on the bed, eliminates the frustration of folding a king fitted sheet. Otherwise, I would probably just wad it up and put it away, truthfully.

You aren't as "complicated" as you think Truly, it makes more sense to just have one set to use until it wears out then buy another. I think most of us just have too much "stuff" probably because we think we'll need it "just in case (fill in the blank). I recently discovered how guilty I am of that while cleaning out a kitchen drawer & found I had several spatulas. Now I ask you, just how many spatulas can one person use at any given time?

Yes, my mom taught me when I was a kid. It's never seemed like a hard thing to me. Not any more than folding a flat sheet.
