Re: Do Not Call Listing ~ A Question

[ Edited ]

I am also being bombarded right now with calls despite being on the Do Not Call Registry.  Most of them are robocalls and automatically click off by themselves, however, it's still most annoying to have the phone ring so often and have to run to see caller ID.

As I type, I'm on the phone with my phone carrier for help in setting up Nomorobo.  I can't believe this is taking 30 minutes already.  I'm going around in circles and can't get set up. grrrrr

ETA:  My carrier has a lousy website, but I'm finally set up.  Keeping my fingers crossed that this works well.

Re: Do Not Call Listing ~ A Question

We've also continued to get them, throughout this 'season'.   I have the ability to block numbers on my phones, but with a 30 number max.  When we changed to Uverse I also picked up nomorobo.

The bummer with both of those is that the phone will still ring once or twice.  But I guess it's better than nothing.  OTOH, I found myself turning off the ringers because I found myself practically breaking my neck to get to the phone to see if it was a call I wanted and then getting mad because it was another robocall or some such solicitation call.   argh!   So now I just miss all the calls.  I am not on the phone hardly at all, anyway.

Re: Do Not Call Listing ~ A Question

We have Verizon FiOS for our landline at home. and an answering machine. Verizon has some calling features which have practically eliminated these nuisance calls. Incoming Call Block lets you list 100 numbers (I review our Calls and Messages listed for our account to see which numbers I know I should block and then add them to the blocked list), and Do Not Disturb lets you block all but 10 numbers -- so, only those 10 will ring through. You can schedule Do Not Disturb for certain times/days, too. Using these features has almost eliminated the calls, and if any do get through our answering machine picks up the call. Then, I go onto our account page and add that number so it doesn't get through again!

Do Not Disturb and Incoming Call Block do not ring at all so you're not annoyed by one ring before disconnect.

Heavenly quiet around here ever since!!!!

Re: Do Not Call Listing ~ A Question

After reading many of the replies to OP, I am thinking of ordering the CPR Call Blocker V202 from Amazon.  From what I understand it will automaticaly block 200 callers and has room for 1200.

My question is:  do we have to imput telephone numbers that are not included in the automatic 200.  If not, what do we do (if anything) to to add more than 200 numbers?  Nothing?

I hope this makes sense and look forward to your guidance.  Thanks.

Re: Do Not Call Listing ~ A Question

I bought my parents the digitone one and it has helped. You can block area codes which block thousands of numbers.

I'm going to contact Verizon for assistance, otherwise I may have to purchase some of the products being discussed.  Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Re: Do Not Call Listing ~ A Question

@LonestarBabs that's who we have too.

We use nomorobo and what I will do once a week or so is go through the missed call register and add the numbers to the blocked call list that way.

Even though it will ring just the once with the nomorobo, I know I don't have to get up unless I hear the second ring.
