What??!!    I know I should have ignored this, but my goodness......

Truffle, what happened to the child was terrible, but alligators are all over Florida and there is no getting rid of them: every Floridian lives with them.  Where Disney built the resort had nothing to do with gators and Disney regularly police all of their waterways-manmade or natural-using licensed professionals.

Ummmm, apparently they didn't do a very good job keeping track of the alligators, five were found while they were looking for the one that had drowned the little boy. I would never go to Disneyworld or Florida for that matter because of their alligator problem. I live in So Ca so I'm close to Disneyland where there aren't any alligators unless they are the mechanical kind. I have seen Electric on Parade and was honestly disappointed in it.

I can't imagine a trip to Disney without seeing the parade. At least they will be continuing it at DL.

It was stopped at DL for years but was held at the adjoining California Adventure for many years after that. I don't feel it will ever get "old." Nice it will return to DL for awhile.

I am going to WDW with DD, SIL and 3 yr old GS on 10/15. I just read that the parade is being discontinued as of 10/9.   I am so disappointed.  I was so looking forward to seeing the expression on my grandson's face when they lower the lights on Main Street to almost complete darkness and the crowd gets quiet.  Then you hear the sounds of the familiar entrancing music and then finally the first float all lit up turns the corner and heads toward you.  It was truly a magical experience.   It was just about my favorite thing at Disney.

I saw this parade at Disneyland years ago.  It was amazing to see.  I was wondering if they still had it.

Re: Disney World discontinuing Main St Electrical Parade

There is so much to do at Disney. I went for 10 days and still did not do it all, or see it all. Besides at the major parks, there is the 2 waterparks on property, and there is Disney Downtown. I could have stayed another 2 weeks and not been sick of it.

You have to pick and choose what to do.

Your GS is very young, almost too young, because he will not remember any of it. I took my kids when one was 6 and one was 11. The one that was 6 remembers very little, even when looking at pictures. I thought by age 6 it would be a memory. Nope.

So since your GS has never seen any of Disney, he won't even know there was a parade.

I was really glad my kids were older, because the parade was at 10pm, and then there are the fireworks at the end. Add that everyone in the park leaves at the end, I was also SOOOO glad we stayed on site. Even then, there was so many people waiting for the monorail, there were hundreds of crying children on the way out (because they were so much past their bedtime).

My niece's backyard abuts the Disney apartment complex. Her daughter gets to see the people walking out of their house in costume every day, so she was convinced for years that Winnie/Mickey/Minnie/Chip & Dale/ etc, were very real. Pretty funny.

She is 11 now, so she has figured it out now. Disney is really good with direct neighbors. They get full passes for pennies, so they can hop in and out of the parks for just a few hours and go back home. They even go into Epcot just for dinner, a little walk, and go back home

I would go to the parks every single day if I had that deal. Everyone finds their "kid at heart" when at Disney Smiley Happy
