@ThinkingOutLoud During Sandy and Issac there were ARC trucks parked for photo shots and those trucks were empty.

I did not hear about empty buckets. If people were handed empty buckets I'm sure they would have been infuriated and thrown them back. Unless the report means the buckets were unloaded at distribution sites for show.

Two different scenes. Where did you find this info and did people speak up?

I volunteered for ARC at Ground Zero, NYC & they did a wonderful job. That’s all I can say from personal experience. Also, when our condo building had a bad fire years ago, ARC was on the scene immediately with The Salvation Army.

@You can drive a motorhome to NOLA. Can't drive to Maui. It makes everything more difficult. Also, if land owners want to sell their land surely they can. Some will want to sell out and never return. I can understand that.

I have nothing against the workers on the ground for ARC. Upper management is another issue and there has been plenty of controversy over the years. Locally, I had all kinds of issues trying to volunteer even when they wanted help.

Regardless, there are many ways to donate, if you choose to do so. 💕

I am glad that Maui Emergency Management Agency director Herman Andaya resigned. It is shameful and sickening that he made the terrible decision not to sound the alert system to warn the people of Lahaina to immediately evacuate. His incompetence cost many people their lives.

It was terrible to learn that people had to jump into the ocean to avoid the fires raging through Lahaina. That those people had to remain in the water for several hours, with some not able to survive for that long afloat, is horrific.

The death toll from the Lahaina event is going to rise dramatically. Buildings were reduced to white ash. Schools in Maui were closed for the day due to power outages, and parents went to work leaving their kids in their homes, alone, without any idea of the devastation to come later that day. How many children burned to death in their homes? Why is there no mention of this in the mainstream media? That, too, is an outrage.
