Can't anyone in the industry come up with original ideas anymore?

Enough with the remakes! The first movie was exceptional.

Why?!

That's my favorite movie of all times and a remake would never be as good.  I wouldn't even watch it!

Re: Dirty Dancing Remake - Casting Call

I adore the original movie.  I can't even begin to count the number of times I watched it back in the 80s/90s.  To hear that they are remaking it... ugh, gross.

That would be fun to be an extra. I can't wait to hear who will be in the remake. I don't think it takes anything away from the original, to do a remake. It's just tv. It brings a lot of attention to the original, but gives a new, fun twist with a remake. As far as the question of "are there no new ideas", I am overwhelmed with how much tv there is to choose from!

Re: Dirty Dancing Remake - Casting Call

It's such a strange idea to remake this.  A stage musical adaptation of this movie had a successful run in the UK, and is currently touring the USA.  I thought Fox would have acquired the rights and done the musical version as their next live musical (like Grease).

FYI, casting so far includes Abigail Breslin as Baby, Colt Prattes as Johnny, and Debra Messing as Baby's Mother.  Andy Blankenbuehler, who choreographed the hit Broadway musical, "Hamilton," is doing the choreography for the remake.

Once when Liza Minneli was asked to sing "Over the Rainbow" she replied, "It's been sung."

I feel that way about this movie.

Mountain Lake was such a beautiful setting for filming the first movie.  Over the years, the lake has disappeared.   The last picture I saw of the water level, was barely a good size puddle in the middle of what had once been a large lake.
