Have to see if I can get my hands on a copy of that Steve Allen TV series, Meeting of the Minds. I always thought of him as a comedian until I watched that show.

For the ones who invited the evil people, I'll just sit and watch from the kitchen, that way I can get a head start before y'all  should the need arise. Lol

@Pandalady I miss him! I can only imagine what his thoughts would have been for this past election. I like Chuck Todd, but Russert was the best moderator for politics.

@151949@I agree those were the days.People got together at each other's homes just for coffee and gossip.Kids played outside without much need for supervision.I agree it did seem that our parents had great times and even though we didn't have much it wasn't important as long as you could pay the bills.

Re: Dining with historical figures!

When I was little we would go to one of my parents friend's house on a Saturday evening. They would play cards or dance then around midnight they would bring out "the lunch" . A tray of meats and cheeses etc to make sandwiches, and another tray of desserts. They would make coffee, and everyone would eat and drink coffee so they could drive home, after an evening of drinking beer or wine. My Dad didn't drink at all , so he wouldn't need the coffee, and he'd have milk like us kids. I always really enjoyed "the midnight lunch".

@AuntG

You can watch some on YouTube.

Amazon sells the book Steve had published which contains the scripts from the shows.
