Your grocery bill goes up, so do the dairy cow's grocery bills. Insurance goes up? Costs more to insure that tractor. Your grocery bill goes up, so does the dairy farmer's only a zillion times more for all those hungry cattle.

Sometimes we forget that when prices go up, they go up for everyone, including the businesses that make, manufacture, ship, and sell products and services to us. Lots of costs in running a business and those are passed on to consumers. Not saying I love it, but that's the reality.
I do take issue with companies that raise prices excessively to increase their own wealth instead of paying their workers a living wage.

Actually, yes, bird flu has been detected in dairy cattle. However so far just a few cases.

As of March 19, 2025, the USDA reported that 989 dairy herds in 17 US states have confirmed cases of avian influenza A(H5N1) virus infections in dairy cows. The affected states include California, Colorado, Idaho, Michigan, Texas, Iowa, Utah, Nevada, Minnesota, New Mexico, South Dakota, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arizona, North Carolina, Ohio, and Wyoming.
A second type of bird flu has been found in dairy cows for the first time, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced on Feb 4. Our butter has been very high for about 2 years. It recently went down along with the price of eggs.
