A judge has ruled they can't merge.  8 breathed a sigh of relief as I like Albertson's and would hate to see it ruined by association with Kroger, which I don't like.

In my area, Albertson's is building a big boutique store similar to Wegman's (which isn't here).  At the rate they're going, however, it'll never be finished. Maybe they've been waiting on this decision.

Albertson's is suing Krogers over that situ. Has something to do with shareholders money.

I'm relieved .... I doubt the merger would have benefitted consumers.

I was happy to hear this merger will not be going forward. A lot of people where I were not happy about the merger.

I'm glad. We have Albertsons and Fry's (Kroger) very close to us but that's really it. There is a Walmart about 20 miles away.

If they had merged, we really would not have had much competition. Arizona is one of the states that sued to stop it.

When I lived in California, Albertsons and Nob Hill were grocery shopping stores.  They were also the closest.  Eventually I shopped less and less at Alberstons.  Store wasn't kept up, choices limited...many factors.  It was getting less and less foot traffic and I think it closed.  Now in another state and Kroger and Publix are my choices.  At first I shopped only at Krogerbut now I shop mainly at Publix.  The last couple of times I bought meat from Kroger, it was awful.  Can't trust their pricing, so if I do go there, I always do self checkout  I will shop their wekly digital deals, but those have gotten worse (for me) too.

@azgal.  Your grocery situation is about the same as mine.
