Having difficulty getting up in the morning is a condition called Dysania.

Try calling your boss and telling him/her you wont be in because you're suffering from Dysania.   Hang up quickly before questions can be asked.

@Kachina624

When I worked the overnight shift...you wouldn't believe HOW MANY employees tried calling off for the day shift in the middle of the night.

I had to tell them they needed to call their MANAGERS (and yeah, I had their phone numbers)      di

@Desertdi

I ran the midnight shift in the medium scale computer room for about 18 months and never got one phone call from anyone to cancel their first shift job.

@jlkz    I was in the overnight business office of a resort with more than 1,000 employees.     And....I wasn't allowed to accept employee call-offs,   Guest cancellations, YES....but employees had to speak with someone in their own department.

@Desertdi.  5hat is as it should be, talk to the supervisor.

I was an area manager with a state agency and heard some remarkable imaginative excuses.  My favorite was a playboy type who couldn't come to work bcause he couldn't remember where he left his shoes.  I told him to get his act together and get to the office.

@Kachina624       It always amazed me that workers "thought" they could just leave a message with "whoever answered the phone"....

I had some "unusual" calls myself.    One woman demanded to speak with the "General Manager".     I explained that he would be there in the morning.      She said she was his wife and KNEW he was there.    I asked for her name.....and the hubby was a bell boy.......

For years I worked for a company that had no sick days.  The only acceptable excuse was your own death.

We used to joke that if you died on the job they would hold the body until the end of your shift.

@Susan345       My employer was not quite so strict.    "Life Support" was also a legitimate excuse....      di
