Actually, I saw the "joke" not as making fun of those who need Depends, but as a commentary on those who are quick to abandon parents who need care.

Obviously, it hit a nerve. Sorry.

That's okay, Dagna. You're a good person and didn't know this would happen here. {#emotions_dlg.wub}

The fact I don't find humor in making fun of medical products that people need doesn't mean I don't have a sense of humor or that I'm not fun to be around. Your comment in itself is insulting to everyone who shares a difference of opinion to yours. In my case it's not my 3rd cousin twice removed, it's my dad, so it's very personal to me. He and I even find humor in him wearing them, but there was a time he didn't find it so funny. Personally I haven't lost my sense of humor. I hope you never have to wear them yourself, or have a loved one that does... but odds are, you will. Perhaps you won't find it so amusing then.

I agree with you on this 100%

I wish you had included this statement of yours in your original post, Dagna.

I didn't view it as a joke, obviously, but as a sad commentary on what may well be the truth for some.

I believe this is the type of topic that you may possibly joke about within the family but it is inappropriate for someone outside the inner family circle to joke about. For example, my mom and I might have laughed about it, but no one else should comment on it. Does that make sense?

As someone that has cared for 2 parents with this problem and have seen the humility they faced I find this in very poor taste and very offensive.

We'll all I have to say is that I am 66 years old and a year ago I started having bladder control issues. I started wearing the pads that are sold to deal with this issue. Three months ago I started using the Oxytrol patch and it has helped immensely so now I no longer need the pads. So I am someone who is DIRECTLY affected by this and I found her little joke amusing and hardly was offended by it. I guess we should be grateful that babies can't read or write or we might have them expressing their outrage . like I said where did our sense of humor go???
