@Spurt @stevieb I'm surprised to hear that about Chewy.  I have dealt with them for a few years now without a problem.  Am on auto-delivery for Spencer's kibble and even tho they said to expect delays because of the virus - no longer get it the next day, but in 3-4 days, and so far it has always arrived within a day or two of expected delivery.  I wonder if location has anything to do with delays.

@chlema  @Spurt  It's not Chewy, it's Fedex, the items I've bought were here and ready for delivery in plenty of time. Fedex just failed to deliver them and in fairness, it's not as if the delays were for a week, just for several extra days. It rankled because I knew they were here and supposed to be delivered and Fedex (not Chewy) kept changing the delivery date and offering up bogus reasons for the delays. When the pandemic first hit, yes, Chewy, like every other entity, was having availability issues and shipping delays but they very quickly addressed their end of the problems.  And, as noted whether it's Target or Chewy, the problem seems to be when I order large containers of anything heavy. It appears the Fedex boys are wimpy about weight.

@stevieb

LOL...yep WIMPY FedEx Boys.....    At least Instacart hires strong Texas women and men! 😉

@Spurt  I wouldn't know... Glad their service has worked so well for you... I might try them again now that the supply chain is at least somewhat improved and endless texts about substitutions would hopefully be unnecessary, but having used them only once and found them pricey and with unsatisfactory results, I've been using Amazon Fresh, Giant and Safeway deliveries for food and they've been reasonably acceptable... Safeway badly screwed up my last order, so they're on hiatus and Giant is catch as catch can, though they seem to have upped their game in some respects albeit with a more limited menu... Amazon Fresh does a good job, but, as noted, their variety leaves something to be desired and occasionally things aren't always far enough out from their expiration dates to suit me... All that said, yes, I can agree that the grocery delivery men and women could teach Fedex a thing or two about getting the job done... One of the kids was telling me his last delivery required him to take something like thirty heavy boxes and sacks up four flights without use of an elevator, but he did what he was hired to do and was happy to have his job... The other thing I'll say about Fedex is you never know where they'll leave your packages... Sometimes I find the in the building lobby and sometimes they're actually at my door... Of course, I could say the same for other delivery services, including Amazon, though for the most part Amazon does what they're supposed to do and UPS always seems to do what they're supposed to do and on time... Fingers crossed they stay that way...

And this is one Chewy customer that hates them...

They're unreliable, rarely on time, make up falsehoods about delivery attempts and often deliver packages in woeful condition... My absolute last choice provider...

You confirmed my deepest fears, my friends have been urging me to sign up with Chewy for my cats' supplies...but I had my doubts....  Think I'll stick with Instacart for delivering the cat food and litter, and the rest---preventative flea treatment products, treats, toys, and other items I'll just go to Petsmart in person!

I have had zero issues with Chewy deliveries. Actually they have done better than anyone else except those who send my medical devices are just as good.I signed up for monthly deliveries with Chewy a few months before the virus and have not missed one shipment. They sent me emails in the beginning to let me know I should order a little early to be sure and get things on time and I really appreciated it. They send you a message when your stuff is about to ship a few days ahead of time in case you want to skip or add things to your shipment.
Yes the boxes are heavy but I open them outside and carry things one at a time inside or my husband carries the whole box in. There's not much they can do about mailing big bags and packages of canned food making the boxes lighter.

I too received a similar notice about books I ordered on Tuesday - but then yesterday morning I ordered one and it was delivered to me today!

So I'm guessing my book form yesterday was coming from a nearby facility and the others from a farther away one.

This morning I received a notice that the "delayed" items had been shipped overnight.  Hmmm?

I did. I just noticed that others seem to think Chewy was bad. I can't say anything bad about chewy at all.

I just wonder how FedEx even stays in business.....🤷‍♀️

The UPS guys are the best around here.....I was taking some trash to the Recycle Bins and he even told me,  "Ill take that for you ma'm".....They are very good and even helped me with a big nightmare that USPS botched up

I notice many of my orders are arriving several days late....and of course the vendors blame it on COVID. The real reason things are delayed is because UPS and other carriers send it to USPS for the last leg of the route and delivery. To me, when it goes to the post office, it is like a black hole. Saves UPS money, but customers don't get their orders on time as promised.

My most recent Amazon order was supposed to be delivered tonight by 9 PM. The USPS website revised it to 8 PM. When I checked again, it said by 5:15 PM. It got here at 1:11 PM.

I'd be happier if it was books and DVDs, but it's supplies for my living room organizing project. I thought I had till 9 tonight to fool around . . . Cat Sad

@Spurt  One can only assume two factors must be at work... First, they must be cheaper than UPS and then, of course, with so much ordering and shipping being done these days, companies are desperate to get their packages delivered and there are only so many delivery options... What I don't get is how no one has held Fedex Ground management's feet to the fire... It's a big corporation with multiple divisions and their performance doesn't reflect well on the company...

I'm sure there's someone in the organization that is trying to relay customer complaints to Fed Ex's CEO, Fred Smith, but he's too busy battling the Washington Football Team owner, Daniel Snyder, first it was selling his shares unless the team name was changed, and then rumors he was trying to oust Snyder entirely........... 😉

FedEx CEO Frederick Smith is a minority owner in the team. His company owns the naming rights to the team’s stadium in Landover.  Smith was a key factor in getting the name of the team changed. This statement came hours after the team announced that the controversial nickname and logo are being retired.“We appreciate the team’s decision to change its name and logo, and we look forward to the outcome of the next step in the process,” FedEx said, per NBC Sports Washington.
