Re: Defensive Driving Courses

The course is a good deal; your savings on auto insurance more than offset the cost of the course.  My brother and sister-in-law in NYS take the course.  But I've never heard anything about it here in PA.

Re: Defensive Driving Courses

I just talked with my car insurance agent and taking a defensive driving course will save me $15 on my annual premium. Not worth it to me.

Re: Defensive Driving Courses

When I was still working  for the state of CA we were required to take a defensive driving course they paid for if we drove on state time.  I think I gave the certificate to my agent for a discount, can't remember how much it was.

I just checked my policy, and the discount for myself & hubby is $90 per year.

So I will be doing the course online as my certificate expired. I live in New York State and checked out DMV recommendations of various websites offering the course. The one I usually had used wants $39.99 when most others charge between $19.99-$24.95. Are they pretty much all the same, I'm not sure which one to go with? Has anyone taken the course recently and can recommend one they liked?

@Jordan2

I checked into a similar class here in CA a few years ago.  The cost for the online class was $35 .... and it would reduce my annual insurance premium by $8 a year.

Eight dollars ... not eighty.

I passed on doing this.   Eight dollars?  huh

8 🤣

That's an insult. Might as well offer no discount. 🤣

@Pecky that's not bad, the certificate is good for three years.
