Hi @SloopJohnB
I love this response. You make a great point. It can be fun to go and to be invited. And when I feel that way. I GO! LOL
Thanks for the reminder-- these invites are meant to be pleasant. LOL

That's so true. I usually don't mind an extra friend coming along, but not everyone feels that way.

Thank you to everyone that took the time to reply. I tried to reply to everyone. This is probably the most responses any of my posts have received. LOL.
Merry Christmas and stay safe with the storms!

If you are not going to have fun, if simply don't want to go to the luncheon; graciously decline. There's nothing wrong in doing that.

Just a few days ago a very good friend and I were texting and he invited me out to lunch. I did not feel like going so after about 2 minutes and he didn't get an answer, his next text said that he would rescind the invitation and I answered that I think that was a great idea.
That ended that and that we continued texting about other things.

It wouldn't make you a terrible person, but if you like the other person, why not grab a quick lunch?

I called her to check to see if she needed anything because we are expecting storms-- like a lot of the country. And she offered me to join a lunch at a restuarant with her and another of her friends later that day.
Why are you offering to do errands for her when she is able to go out herself that same day? It was very kind of you to offer.
It sounds to me that she thought your offer was very kind and wanted to reciprocate in some way. But you have every right to politely decline any invitation.
