De icer on windshield

just heard mention of this on the thread about feeding birds. Those of you who have used it, how's it go on the frosted/frozen windshield?? I just spent over $40 for new wiper blades, and don't want to mess them up. A clean windshield is a real fetish of mine,,,and it's been rough lately!!
