Wasn't the purpose of an earlier Daylight savings time to save energy? How is that outdated? I wish it would be that way all year long.

I think it was from back in the day when farmers needed more light to plant their crops.

Re: Daylight savings time...

I'm happy anytime the sun shines through the dark, clouds, fog or anything else that can get in the way, including clock time.

Hey, enjoy every minute. From NASA.com:

Most people cite the fact that in about 5-6 billion years the Sun will become a red giant star, and swell to the orbit of Venus or even the Earth in size. Actually, even now, the Sun grows brighter and brighter as its is evolving 'off' the main sequence. In another 500 million years of this steady increase, it will be about 10 percent more luminous.

Re: Daylight savings time...

I went to Alaska several years ago. The sun was shining at 10:00pm at night. I loved it. I love the sunshine later in the evening. I know for the animals and plants it makes no difference. I love it though. To each his own.

Re: Daylight savings time...

Since the more daylight thing doesn't affect Alaska, there is a bill in our legislature to stop DST. Still sitting there though.

Yuck. I hate it. It totally scr#ws me up. I hate that it doesn't get dark until close to 10 pm in the summer.

But DST doesn't magically produce more daylight. Farmers can work whatever hours they like (or need to). The time on the clock isn't relevant.

Same here. If I need to pick something up at a store and it's 7pm...no problem. But I hate it when it gets dark by 5pm especially because the store parking lots are not well lit. If I can't find a parking space close to the door then I feel uncomfortable walking in the dark to my car..
