The clock on my wall means nothing except for when I have an appt somewhere. My real clock is the sun rising and setting. I get up before the sun comes up and I go to bed when it gets dark plus I have a living alarm clock/timer to let me now when to put out the dog food...LOL! Woman LOL

My mom always made an interesting comment---- wouldn't it make more sense to do Daylight Saving Time in the WINTER to delay the darkness then instead of having it get dark at 430 PM! .????...Makes more sense to me 🤔

@Spurt

The problem with permanent daylight saving time (which was tried before) is that some places will have sunrise very late during the winter.  Many people didn't like that aspect of DST.

Sunrise being late would actually help my utility bill....rather than shifting the time to the hottest part of the day

I would just like for it to permanently stay one way or the other. Always takes me a day or two to adjust. I guess, though, if I could have my way, I would choose to stay with standard time. Living in Texas, that extra hour of sunshine - HEAT and HUMIDITY - I could do without!

Interesting statistic heard on my morning news - the day after DST there is an increase in heart attacks and strokes.  It's the loss of an hour evidently and does not increase when going back to standard time.

I've been thinking that, if possible, to let each state decide.

I have a feeling that hot climates prefer the present time; and maybe cooler climates or West coastal folks would prefer DST so they could sit on their decks and enjoy the daylight longer.  ?

Just a thought.........

Anyone here have any comments re: letting each state decide what they would prefer?

Each state does decide.  Alaska and Hawaii do not participate and neither does most of Arizona.

I live in the beautiful state of Minnesota. Personally, I don't care if it's light longer in the evening or not. It doesn't really change my lifestyle. I just don't like the whole time change process and wish we would just stay constant one way or the other. I hate doing the switch!
