If you google you will find a lawsuit against them for mis-representating calories, fat, etc.

I like them.  I've tried the chocolate chip cookie dough bar and was pretty impressed with it.  Evidently the company is counter suing the lawsuit brought upon them because there is a large discrepancy in the way the fat is calculated when testing the bar.  They use something called EPG which is basically an artificial fat. EPG is not absorbed by the body as a regular fat is.  The average fat calorie contains 9 grams and EPG is something like 0.7 grams.  That explains the wild discrepancy in the calorie count.

FYI:  EPG, or esterified propoxylated glycerol, is a novel fat alternative designed to reduce calorie intake from fats while maintaining the taste and texture of traditional fats. It is derived from non-GMO vegetable oils, primarily rapeseed oil, and is engineered to limit calorie absorption in the body.

The longevity expert Dr Peter Attia stepped down recently from David proteins & was all over the news. Attia's name and image were removed from the David Protein website and "experts" page.

I've never tried those David Protein bars. In fact, I stay away from protein bars in general b/c they are an ultra-processed food (UPF) and contain a lot of 'engineered' ingredients...aka fake food.  I'd rather not eat something like that.

UPFs are 'food' items that contain 5 or more ingredients, many of which are not naturally occurring.

@wagirl  I don't think these are David Venable's bars.

@goldensrbest

I tried one and would say it was only "okay," but I'm really fussy about protein bars.

I think of them as emergency snacks.
