I don't understand why people have problems with hosts mentioning family members.  It is not as if David has his mother in the basement.  I don't see anything creepy about him talking about his mother.

ITA with you, and as someone who's had fractured relations with my family members over the years I find it endearing how close and loving he talks about his mom. Same with Alberti and his love for his parents. Why must some pick apart and be so negative toward the hosts?  I think it's sweet he has such a close relationship with her.

This has  Always been  David's storyline  and his love of cooking .  Him talking abt his Mother   has garnered him alot of  positive attention by  OVC  customers/viewers .

Alot of  old women love to  watch  a doting  son  and guess they bought alot of what he was selling .

Over the years , David  has never talked  abt having any relationships other than his Mother &  coworkers like Jane  on QVC.

I agree it gets old but  take or leave it. I  usually don't watch him .

I don't watch cooking shows so never watched David, but it wouldn't matter since I find  the the hosts, except for John, annoying and mute them.

The OP would benefit from doing likewise and avoid David's mommy stories.

Alot of sales people tell family stories while selling you.  One guy trying to sell us something kept mentioning his wife and then glancing at me.  I have no doubt David loves his mother, but David is a very good salesman after all.

ITA, and frankly, I rarely hear DV talk about his mom and I watch him a lot, he may mention her occasionally.  Now JT is another story - she inserts her daughters into nearly every item she's selling - always a story about them!

to me it looks like David put on a little weight, and I suppose that's why he stopped yammering about carbs, what he ate, etc. how to make low carbs/low fat meals.  Those conversations wore me out.  Thank God for my remote.

Maybe MOM has lots of money...

LOL I'd call my mother mommy too if she sat on a bunch of money But all kidding aside I'm sure  he's got plenty of his own and if at his age he's calling his  mother mommy well.......

my mother discouraged us from calling her that after we reached a certain age and we were still in elementary school. Said it was baby talk.

So,...one can blame his mother for allowing it.

Not unusual. They have to talk about someone in their lives once in a while.

I know, right?Smiley LOL

However, I've never heard David refer to his Mother as "Mommy" and I watch ITKWD quite regularly.

I think it is clear that management wants the viewers to relate to the hosts, as if they are friends. This has been stated many times in articles about sales strategies. David talks about his mother and sometines his siblings (usually around holidays) because she is his family. I have no doubt that he is a good son and will always be there to help his beloved mother.

As many, many others have stated, it is not a constant mention, unlike the nauseating daughter stories by Jane T. All of the other hosts mention their families and children, so why pick on David?

But, I do agree that he is looking tired and bored, and I hope he is able to retire soon. His are still the only shows I can watch all the way through, but I haven't even done that lately, due to the prices of the food. (And the fact that I already have most of the gadgets and appliances.)

ETA - he does not refer to his mother as "MOMMY." He calls her his mother, or sometimes Miss Sarah.
