Daughters-in-law

How many of you have DIL's that you like and are fond of? that you get along well with? I think I might become a mil in the next year or so and I'd like advice from those of you who have had success that a relationship that can be "fraught" at times.

My sister in a MIL; she has been for a long time and has had her ups and downs with her son's wife but mostly they've gotten along very well. She's given me a lot of good advice and I'd like to hear from the rest of you so I can maybe discern a common thread in your advice.

I do SO hope he and his girlfriend get married. I like her tremendously but so far I haven't let myself get too close until this becomes a permanent relationship. It's hard not to; she's a great gal.
