Re: Dan Hughes LEAVING

[ Edited ]

I liked Dan Hughes but he has had some health issues, has been there 30+ years and must be in his 60s.  Maybe it's time to retire.  IMO that's true of a few other hosts.

As for Carolyn, she was my "body type" so her leaving is a bit of a negative for me.  Hope she's taking the squirrels with her--LOL!!

I wish them all well but won't miss any of them!

Dan and Carolyn are both from Indiana, if I recall correctly.  They both have a folksy, Midwestern style that new management may not have embraced.

They are both old enough for social security and medicare.  People should retire as soon as they can afford it.

I can't believe of all the hosts they could have let go, they chose Dan and Carolyn.  Dan was very calm, never shouted like a used carl salesman and gave good presentations. As for Carolyn, she and Gary Goben were favorites of Denim & Co. fans.  I don't like to see anyone lose their job, but there are other hosts who are not as good.  They are alienating viewers with their constant interrupting vendors and too much family talk.

Does QVC think their audience are mainly 20 & 30 year olds?  Letting go of long time viewer favorites is a mistake - IMO.

What the h__l Carolyn also. Seems like all this company wants is a drinking party all day long!

Heard about Carolyn this morning  and thought maybe it was her decision but now after reading Dan Hughes guess it's pink slip time once again at the Q

I agee with you seeing they are keeping host that are sipping the wine, hyper, presenting in their PJ'S, shouting like maybe old timers are deaf, phoney laughing , stupid H-p-y Da-ce that always showed me he doesn't like everything he sells and that shows he is partial cause some gets that stupid H-p-y Da-ce and others don't, shouldn't even be allowed.

Guess that is why my credit card is really not on fire with the Q anymore and been a customer with them since 1990.Been watching less and if a few more hosts and vendors from years ago leave will even be watching less and less.

@BLHCarolyn turned 64 years old on September 26, 2022.  Dan Hughes was born on October 27th, 1961.

Neither has reached full retirement age for full social security benefits nor are they old enough for medicare.

This substantiated my theory that a retirement incentive was offered.  They wouldn't just lay off older.hosts as that would violate civil right law and leave them open to lawsuits.  The undoubtedly asked for volunteers.  Both Carolyn and Dan have plenty going on that they probably enjoy more than QVC.  This may be a relief to them.

If their contracts were up it wouldn't violate anything.
