@graceandmercy, I watched Animal Cops and if an animal abuser is found, they get a fine, go to jail and/or are banned from owning animals for awhile if the abuse is bad enough.
Thanks NC..I think the punishment should be much tougher! I just can't stand any kind of abuse..so glad Dakota will be safe and happy now!
You're welcome, graceandmercy. I've seen animal cops and, depending on how bad the animal abuse is, the penalty is not light. Sometimes the fine can be as high as $1,000, the jail sentence can be as long as 5 years and, if many animals have been badly abused, that person can be banned from owning animals for 2 or 5 years, or they might be banned from owning animals period in the state where the crime is committed. I posted and/or in my previous post because sometimes, the penalty can be all three.
It's also shown that violence towards animals might eventually lead to violence toward people. This poor little pup didn't sustain cigarette burns from just being thrown out of a car. It's shame really, but thank goodness Matty6 found him.
I saw on another episode of Animal Cops that one dog was abused so badly that he was afraid of the female staff at the ASPCA, but wasn't afraid of the male staff. That's because he was abused by a woman. Animals forgive, but they never forget. Thanks again, Matty6, for saving this little puppy.

Thank you for the update and I will be praying everyday for Dakota to make a full recovery. Thank you and your family and the vet and staff for taking such good care of Dakota. I hope they find who did this but sadly whatever they do isn't enough. I agree on the 5 minutes with your husband,I wish I could have 5 minutes also. They deserve to feel horrendous pain for what they did to this baby.

Thanks for your update on Dakota and thank you for adopting him. I just hate, hate, hate it when some darn fool abuses a defenseless animal. I hope and pray Dakota fully recovers from his injuries and know his life from this time forward will be filled with happiness and love ... loads of love.

NC, I have heard that many serial killers have abused animals in their past! They are very sick individuals! How could they prevent them from having other animals??

Dakota had a little angel helping him to find a wonderful home and he certainly did! I can't wait until he gets to go home with you as I know your family will make him feel safe and very much loved. Thankfully, animals are the most forgiving creatures on earth, so although he'll never forget the abuse, the effects will fade over time.
My brother adopted an abused pup and we all gave him the most wonderful life any dog could have imagined (except for the cat, LOL). Luckily he never acted out aggressively, instead the abuse made him more submissive, poor guy. It sounds like Dakota is also a sweet boy.
As I mentioned in your other thread, please post photos once he gets home so that we can all meet that wonderful and very lucky puppy.

Thankfully he fell into your arms, and I am so happy that happened! I hope his tail gets to wag, pain free, because he's going to be doing a lot of that with him in your arms! Warm hugs for being so empathetic and caring!
My husband kept saying.... "When you catch them/him Just give me five minutes alone with these rotten thugs"! {I thank you for your post}
I was just thinking, and it really bothers me to wonder about this--Dakota…does he have any siblings? What happened to the other puppies? Maybe there are more...
I have no idea if there are any puppies or not? I was not the first person who came upon the puppy my neighbor found only Dakota near her home. She brought him to me and that is how things happened. This has crossed my mind and I lost a nights sleep. My main concern is Dakota now to get him well and bring him home. I am hoping the puppies and the Momma are fearing well. But, I just honestly can not answer that question. I wish I knew and I wish I can help them.
