Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Hello my friends! Two long days now for Linus at work and he's very tired! I'm glad I put a chicken in the slow cooker and potatoes and it was all ready to eat when he got home. The vegetable I just heated up from last night. Tomorrow he has off, and he should rest because at 75, he does tire faster now, then he works Thursday and Friday from 11 to 5, and Saturday from 9 to 2. They close at 2 on Saturdays. Now we got lots of chicken left over, de-boned and in the gravy for tomorrow. It sure tastes good! We just haven't had it this way for a long time, usually he grills it. I knew he'd be too tired to do that yet, so in the crock pot it went! I wish you all a good night and sweet dreams! And may all your prayers be answered!

Stay close to God because He is the solution to all problems. Lord, I will
live in Your presence, protected by You and Your peace will be mine.

"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and
I will give you rest." ~Matthew 11:28

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and
I will give you rest." For rest from the cares of life, we can turn to
God each day in prayer and communion. Real relaxation and serenity come
from a deep sense of the fundamental goodness of the universe. God's
everlasting arms are underneath all and can support us. We can commune
with God, not so much for petitions to be granted as for the rest that
comes from our relying on God's will and God's purposes for our lives.
We can be sure of God's strength available to us, and conscious of God's
support. We can wait quietly until that true rest from God fills our
being.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may be conscious of God's support today. I pray that I
may rest safe and sure therein.

Lord Jesus You Are the Alpha and the Omega

Lord Jesus, You are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. to you belong all times and all seasons. We thank you for your continued presence with us in the Eucharist. In this great sacrament of your love, and in your Church, you are always present with us, always the same, yet always renewing your Church.
Help us, Lord Jesus, to remain faithful to the Gospel, to the word of God which remains for ever. Help us, too, to realize that your word is alive and active. Give us the grace to understand that you are with us today, as you once were in Nazareth, telling us that God´s saving word is to our own day too. Amen.

Meditations by Padre Pio

Only a general knows how and when to use one of his soldiers. Wait, your turn will come.

Mother Teresa Said...

Faith is a gift from God.
When God comes to you or you go to God, then you will have the chance to accept Him or reject Him.
Accepting Him is the gift of faith.

Prayer For the Unity of the Church

O God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, our only Savior,
the Prince of Peace: Give us grace seriously to lay to heart the
great dangers we are in by our unhappy divisions; take away
all hatred and prejudice, and whatever else may hinder us
from godly union and concord; that, as there is but one Body
and one Spirit, one hope of our calling, one Lord, one Faith,
one Baptism, one God and Father of us all, so we may be all
of one heart and of one soul, united in one holy bond of truth
and peace, of faith and charity, and may with one mind and
one mouth glorify You ; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

January 20

Approach this day with awareness of who is Boss. As you make plans for the day, remember that it is I who orchestrate the events of your life. On days when things go smoothly, according to your plans, you may be unaware of My sovereign Presence. On days when your plans are thwarted, be on the lookout for Me! I may be doing something important in your life, something quite different from what you expected. It is essential at such times to stay in communication with Me, accepting My way as better than yours. Don’t try to figure out what is happening. Simply trust Me and thank Me in advance for the good that will come out of it all. I know the plans I have for you, and they are good.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
—Isaiah 55:9–11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
—Jeremiah 29:11 - from Jesus Calling

WHEN I FORGET TO PRAY

Sometimes when things are going great I forget to Pray
Then in darkness I stumble and lose my way.

I open a closet where I have tucked Jesus in
I have to ask for Guidance to find my way Again

Once More a light begins to shine
I find Peace and Contentment in this troubled Life of Mine

He says My Child did you forget I am always here for you
To help with the bad times you go through

I am The Alpha and Omega The Beginning and The End
Child, I will not Forsake You, I am Your Best Friend.

Remember when you feel forsaken and you lose your way.
Just Bow Your Head and Open Up Your Heart
Don't Forget To Pray!

Today's readings 1/20/15
Heb.6:1-10; Ps.111:1-2, 4-5, 9-10; Mk.2:23-28
In a society dominated by an out of control legal system that holds people to their word by cleverly written contracts instead of a word and an old fashioned handshake we have to wonder whether society has progressed at all. Of course we all know that contracts are broken and bought out all the time, and if we use today's scripture verses as a gauge it's pretty clear that we're moving backwards instead of forward, especially when we listen to Jesus' response to the "legalistic" complaints of the Pharisees in today's Gospel. Common sense tells us that only a misguided fool would pass up readily available food when they are hungry and in need simply because there's a law against it, and with that being said it's obvious that common sense seems to be a thing of the past any more. That's even more obvious when we look at how the Promises God has made are downplayed and ignored in favor of the promises the world makes and then look at the "track record" of both. Yes, it's any wonder we're moving backwards instead of forward, we've anchored ourselves to empty promises and worthless contracts instead of "the immutable Purpose of God", and unless we reset the "anchor of our soul" in God's Promises once again it's only going to get worse. I think we all know where that change needs to begin, don't we?!
God bless you,

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Good Morning Gloria and Harlene! It's colder today than the past few days, and I'm postponing going to town until later hoping it will warm up a little. We're supposed to get a 1-3 inches of snow late today, but nothing right now.

Gloria: I had a harder time paring things down this time, until I figured out just what I wanted to keep, rather than what I wanted to let go of. I did fine after that, and have lots heading to a new home. Have a good day everybody! pinky

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Hello Harlene and Pinky Ann!! Jan is doing great! She's home a couple days now and her daughter is there. Jan called Linus yesterday morning and she's doing just fine now and thanks for all the prayers!!! Praise the Lord!

Pinky Ann - more snow came overnight, not a lot, maybe a couple inches - sure isn't anything like last January where we had piles. We did a lot of giving away to Treasure Chest last summer when we re-organized our garage for our 50th Wedding Anniversary party. Treasure Chest is like a Good Will but the profits go for Birthright, helping young mothers with keeping their babies and all their needs - saves the babies. Our Church is having a shower for people to put in a donation in a crib there. Nice place to donate our clothes or other things.
