Watching a show on whales, got me to wondering how many here have seen a wild

(cont.) animal in their natural habitat? Polar bears, black or brown bears, (no zoo's or aquariums). Have you ever gone to Africa on a safari? I just think those would be great visits.

I have only seen a Kodiak bear (grizzly) behind cages, so that doesn't count, but he was in water, and his head was huge. I can't imagine how big his body must have been.

I would think swimming with dolphins would be great too.

Anyone lucky enough to see a whale in the ocean?

II was a Flight Instructor for 10 years and once a year we would fly students over the Pacific ocean to see the whales on their migration north. It was always the highlight of their training. I loved those flights too.

I've seen manatees, dolphins, loggerhead turtles from our balcony.

At other locations I've seen sea otters, seals, whales.

I've also seen baby bear cubs in the wild (in Yosemite).

I've seen whales in the Atlantic and the Pacific. I grew up in Pennsylvania hunting country, so lots of deer, an occasional bear or wild cat, too. Lots of animals in the back country of our national parks.

We saw several sting rays floating along in the ocean while we were parasailing. I've seen bears in Tennessee in the Smokies.

Alaska. Only whales. No bears but we didn't go inland for a tour to Denali or other destinations. Must go back. Wanted to do the land/sea package but sister and her husband didn't have enough vacation time to do both.

Yes, here in the NW, we can see grey whales during migration, and have a resident Orca pod in our area....they are beautiful to watch.
