Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Do not leave for another day a task which God would have you do today.
Lord, give me the determination to not procrastinate and the joy to do my
work well.

"The greatest among you will be your servant. All who exalt themselves will
be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted." ~Matthew
23:11-12

We can remember that the first quality of greatness is service. In a way,
God is the greatest servant of all, because God is always waiting for us to
ask for help in all the good work we do. God's strength is always available
to us, but we can ask it of God through our own free will. It is a free
gift, but we can sincerely seek it. A life of service is the finest life we
can live. We are here on earth to serve others. That is our mission, and a
sign of how well we do God's work here on earth!

I pray that I may cooperate with God in all good things. I pray that I may
serve God and others and so lead a useful and happy life.

Hi everyone! Good to be back again! Thanks to Caroline for taking over the
thread for me -you did a great job!! Thank you so much!
Today was a laid back day - I'm alone, I am cooking a chicken soup now - for
tomorrow - and Lori will come for lunch. Tomorrow the cleaning man will
come too.
That will be different as I've never had one before. I'll just tell him
what I want done.
My blessings are my family - phone calls from family and you, my friends!
And having Sammy back again!! He was staying at Lori's house and Lori's
friend, Elisha, took care of him and Phoebe, the cat. He was so excited to
see us last night - he squeaked all the way home! He's such a little honey!
It's sure colder here than Texas!

Homily of the Day

Take His Hand and Live!
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.
Acts 2:36-41 / Jn 20:11-18

The famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright once said that doctors were lucky
because they could bury their mistakes, whereas all that architects could do
was to advise their clients to plant plenty of trees!

It’s hard to face our mistakes, and most of us would really rather bury them
or run the other way. But that just delays the inevitable. It retards our
healing and growth, and it very often leaves us almost certain to repeat the
same old mistake.

In today’s reading from the Acts of the Apostles, we find the unusual
phenomenon of a crowd of 3000 facing up to a major mistake, namely, getting
caught up in the hatreds of a mob and crying out for Jesus’ execution only a
few days before. When they cooled down and looked at what they’d done, they
were appalled and cried out in distress, “What are we to do?” The apostles
responded as Jesus would: “Reform and be baptized that your sins may be
forgiven.”

God never looks backward but always forward. Even when we are still
wallowing in our mistakes, he is extending the hand of forgiveness and the
promise of life. Take his hand and live.

Inspiring Quotes on the Mercy of God

"How happy I am

to see myself imperfect and be in need of

God's mercy"

St Therese of the Child Jesus

"For there are three ways of performing an act of mercy:

the merciful word,

by forgiving and by comforting; secondly, if you can offer no word, then
pray - that too is mercy; and thirdly, deeds of mercy.

And when the Last Day comes, we shall be judged from this,

and on this basis we shall receive the eternal verdict"

St Faustina

"And even if the sins of soul are as dark as night, when the sinner turns to

My mercy he gives Me the greatest praise and is the glory of My Passion"

Jesus to St. Faustina

Extend your mercy towards others, so that there can be

no-one in need whom you meet

without helping. For what hope is there for us if God should

withdraw His Mercy from us?

Saint Vincent de Paul

"Let our judgment of souls cease, for God's mercy

upon them

is extraordinary"

St Faustina

Think well.

Speak well.

Do well.

These three things,

through the mercy of God, will make a man go to Heaven.

St. Camillus de Lellis

Christ died for sinners;

we must take heart,

therefore, and hope that Paradise will be ours, provided only we repent of
our sins, and do good.

St. Philip Neri

"Confession heals,

confession justifies,

confession grants pardon of sin.

All hope consists in confession.

In confession there is a chance for mercy. Believe it firmly. Do not doubt,
do not hesitate, never despair of the

mercy of God.

Hope and have confidence

in confession"

St. Isidore of Seville

Don´t Give Them Vinegar

The preacher placed two identical jars on the table next to the pulpit.

He quoted 1 Samuel 16:7 'The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.
Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

"These jars came from the same factory, were made of the same materials, and
can hold the same amount. But they are different," he explained. Then he
upset one and it oozed out honey. He turned over the other, and vinegar
spilled out.

"When a jar is upset, whatever is in it comes out. Until the jars were
upset, they looked alike. The difference was within, and could not be seen.
When they were upset, their contents were revealed. Until we are upset we
put on a good front. But when we are upset, we reveal our innermost thoughts
and attitudes, for 'out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.'"
(Luke 6:45)

What if someone tipped you over today??

What would flow out??

Would you reveal the "honey" of grace and patience, or the "vinegar" of
anger and sarcasm?

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of
sins." (1Peter 4:8)

Have a terrific day knowing that the one who upsets you may be just looking
for some honey - Don't give them vinegar!

Happiness......Deep down within

Serenity..... With each sunrise

Success..... In each facet of your life

Close and caring friends

Love.....That never ends

Special memories...... Of all the yesterdays

A bright today..... With much to be thankful for

A path..... That leads to beautiful tomorrow's Dreams..... That do their
best to come true

And appreciation...... Of all the wonderful things about you!

Send this to everyone you wish good things to happen to.
