Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

When we give in to fears and worries they will take charge of our lives.
Lord, I place my trust in You so that I may experience every opportunity
and not miss in life that which is meant for me.

Scripture for the day:

"Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things
of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their
minds on the things of the Spirit. To set the mind on the flesh is
death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace." ~Romans
8:5-6

Meditation for the day:

All of us have our own battle to win, the battle between the material
view of life and the spiritual view. Something must guide our lives.
Will it be wealth, pride, selfishness, greed or will it be faith,
honesty, purity, unselfishness, love and service? Each of us has a
choice. We can choose good or evil. We cannot choose both. We can
keep striving until we win the battle. When we win the victory, we
can believe that God will rejoice with us!

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may choose the good and resist the evil. I pray that I
will not be a loser in the battle for righteousness.

Hello my friends! Well today was chilly in the morning, but it sure warmed
up nicely - and Sammy and I took a walk around the yard and saw that our
lilacs are now starting to bloom, I'll have to cut some tomorrow so they can
give the house their aroma! I cut our lettuce, and we are eating it now,
and noticed that it's growing well for the next picking - I just use olive
oil and balsamic vinegar on it - with tomatoes and some sunflower nuts.
Didn't have anything else for it now. Our left over chow mein tonight was
even better than last night as the sauces etc. blend in well, so tasty! The
only thing not organic or good for us there is the chow mean noodles. I
wonder if they make them in organic - I'll ask at our food co-op. I just
want to say that having a garden is such a blessing! Every day Linus goes
out to the yard to check on things - calling it his kingdom! He'll ask
Sammy if he want to check the kingdom with him, and out he goes! We have a
small yard, but very nice. Oh, prayers were answered about Lori getting
the 9:00 van home - Praise God! It is so nice to see more of you on the
thread - it warms my heart to see you there!

PROCRASTINATOR'S CREED

1. I believe that if anything is worth doing,
it would have been done already.
2. I shall never move quickly, except to avoid
more work or find excuses.
3. I will never rush into a job without a
lifetime of consideration.
4. I shall meet all of my deadlines directly
in proportion to the amount of bodily injury I
could expect to receive from missing them.
5. I firmly believe that tomorrow holds the
possibility for new technologies, astounding
discoveries, and a reprieve from my obligations.
6. I truly believe that all deadlines are
unreasonable regardless of the amount of time
given.
7. If at first I don't succeed, there is
always next year.
8. I shall always decide not to decide, unless
of course I decide to change my mind.
9. I shall always begin, start, initiate, take
the first step, and/or write the first word, when
I get around to it.
10. I will never put off tomorrow, what I can
forget about forever.

THE "U" IN JESUS

Before U were thought of or time had begun,
God even stuck U in the name of His Son.
And each time U pray, you'll see it's true
You can't spell out JesUs and not include U.

You're a pretty big part of His wonderful name,
For U, He was born; that's why He came.
And His great love for U is the reason He died.
It even takes U to spell crUcified.

Isn't it thrilling and splendidly grand
He rose from the dead, with U in His plan.
The stones split away, the gold trUmpet blew,
and this word resUrrection is spelled with a U.

When JesUs left earth at His upward ascension,
He felt there was one thing He just had to mention.
Go into the world and tell them it's true
That I love them all - Just like I love U.

So many great people are spelled with a U,
Don't they have a right to know JesUs too?
It all depends now on what U will do,
He'd like them to know
But it all starts with U.

I Love You Anyway
The fear of rejection may be one of the most basic fears of the human
experience. Dr. Joe Harding tells a heart-warming story of a man who finally
decided to ask his boss for a raise in salary. It was Friday. He told his
wife that morning what he was about to do, All day the man felt nervous and
apprehensive. Late in the afternoon he summoned the courage to approach his
employer. To his delight, the boss agreed to a raise.

The man arrived home to a beautiful table set with their best china. Candles
were lighted. His wife had prepared a festive meal. Immediately he figured
that someone from the office had tipped her off! Finding his wife in the
kitchen, he told her the good news. They embraced and kissed, then sat down
to a wonderful meal. Next to his plate the man found a beautiful lettered
note. It read: "Congratulations, darling! I knew you'd get the raise! These
things will tell you how much I love you."

While on his way to the kitchen to get dessert he noticed that a second card
had fallen from her pocket. Picking it off the floor, he read: "Don't worry
about not getting the raise! You deserve it anyway! These things will tell
you how much I love you."

Total acceptance! Total love. Her love for him was not contingent upon his
success at work. In fact, just the opposite. If he were to fail there, if he
were to be rejected by his boss he'd be all the more accepted at home. She
stood behind him no matter what; softening the blows, healing the wounds,
believing in him, loving him. We can be rejected by almost anyone if we're
loved by one.

That's the way families can be with each other. And I like to think that's
the way God is with us, too! "We love because He first loved us."

Rootbound

A great many years ago I purchased a couple of small potted green
houseplants and hung them in the kitchen. Today the containers are
still okay, a bit scratched up, worn and faded but not cracked or
leaking. The leaves stay shiny and healthy looking; occasionally they
drop a few yellowed leaves when I forget to water them.

These plants look good, yet they grow very little. Thing is, they are
rootbound. Have been for a long time. If they were to be repotted into
larger containers, they would grow to be much larger. However, as it
is, they do continue to live, even with being rootbound in quite small
spacea.

We can be rootbound in all sorts of ways- emotionally, physically, and
spiritually. In order to grow, and not simply exist, we need to
enlarge the spaces in which we find ourselves, and as we grow to seek
even larger places. The saying, ‘nothing changes is nothing changes’
is so true.

We don’t want to stay rootbound. There’s so much more. More
understanding, more experiences and opportunities for growth and
service, and always more of God.

This is good news.

I AM HERE

When you feel no one around I AM HERE!

When you feel you can't get off the ground I AM HERE!

When you feel that everything is lost I AM HERE!

When you feel in the seas you are tossed I AM HERE!

Don't let the world bring you down for I AM HERE!

Don't start your day with a frown for I AM HERE!

Don't shut me out let me stay where I am for I AM HERE!

Don't close the door to your heart where I am for I AM HERE!

When you feel lonely my child know that I AM HERE!

Yes, I love you and I will hold you and show you I AM HERE!

I will pick you up when you stumble and fall for I AM HERE!

I will wipe away the tears in your eyes when you cry for I AM HERE!

I know you are going through hard times know that I AM HERE!

I feel the pain with in your spirit know my child I AM HERE!

Turn it all over to me and let me take care of you for I AM HERE!

I am holding you in my holy arms feel me my child for I AM HERE!

God will never leave us as long as we believe in Him and love Him and do His
will.

No matter what satan throws at us God will always be there for us.

Never forget that He is always there with you through it all!

Someone Else

Our church was saddened to learn this week of the death of one of our most
valued members, Someone Else. Someone's passing creates a vacancy that will
be difficult to fill. Else has been with us for many years and for every one
of those years, Someone did far more than a normal person's share of the
work.

Whenever there was a job to do, a class to teach, or a meeting to attend,
one name was on everyone's list, "Let Someone Else do it." Whenever
leadership was mentioned, this wonderful person was looked to for
inspiration as well as results; "Someone Else can work with that group." It
was common knowledge that Someone Else was among the most liberal givers in
our church. Whenever there was a financial need, everyone just assumed
Someone Else would make up the difference.

Someone Else was a wonderful person; sometimes appearing superhuman. Were
the truth known, everybody expected too much of Someone Else. Now Someone
Else is gone! We wonder what we are going to do.

Someone Else left a wonderful example to follow, but who is going to follow
it? Who is going to do the things Someone Else did? When you are asked to
help this year, remember - we can't depend on "Someone Else" anymore.
