Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Remember that God always does what He promises. Lord, where others
bargain, You freely give, when others are too busy, You listen and when
others let me down, You never fail me. Thank You for all of my blessings.

Scripture for the day:

"Through Christ you have come to trust in God, who raised him from the
dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are set on God."
~1 Peter 1:21

Meditation for the day:

God's miracle-working power is as manifest today as it was in the past.
It still works miracles of change in lives and miracles of healing in
troubled minds. When a person trusts wholly in God and leaves to God the
choosing of the day and hour, there is God's miracle-working power becoming
manifest in that person's life. We can trust in God and have boundless
faith in
God's power to make us whole again.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may feel sure that there is nothing that God cannot
accomplish in changing my life. I pray that I may have faith in God's
miracle-working power.

Hello my friends! Today was nice and cloudy until later this evening early
a storm came up - and tornado warnings with the sirens going! I was home
alone and when the hail came, it was so loud it scared Sammy! But he didn't
go and hide - the thunder wasn't loud at all, he's usually really scared of
the loud thunder, so he kept watch with me. He must have sensed I was
scared. I lit our candle - used holy water - sprinkled the house and
property - and then shortly afterwards, it was over with, but when it was
coming down with hail, Darla calls me from Texas to tell me her radar shows
I'm having a storm and wanted to keep me company as I was alone. She
thought I should go to our neighbor's for they have a basement, but I said
not in this hail!! So praise and thanks be to God the storm is over with no
damage - I don't think there even was a tornado. High winds was forecast -
but they weren't here - again - Thanks be to God!!

Good news Carolina on the no cancer found else where but the breast for
your friend - prayers going for her. I have to say when I get posts like
yours, and carba's and all of you, you encourage me, so I'm not discouraged
by the missing posters - just miss them! And Carba - you say you are not
good at words?? You are great with words! Keep it up! I'm so glad you did
post even when you don't feel like it. You are great with words and don't
ever think otherwise - it's me who's not good with words. Juanita lots of

We still haven't closed on the selling of the house yet.....fingers crossed.
There have been delays left and right on the buyers side-so still a bit
stressful over here-I guess I won't be stress free/house related until we
actually have the papers signed and keys handed over to the buyers! Its
been over a month long of waiting......so please tell the ladies to keep
praying that things follow through! I hope it all works out soon!
I will be back soon onto the boards-pretty busy over here with the 3 little
ones and their activities. Tell everyone that my 7 year old just started
baseball again!! He is so excited!!
And she says to tell you that she'll be back shortly!

God Has A Way

God has a way of allowing us to be in the right place at the right time.

I was walking down a dimly lit street late one evening when I heard muffled
screams coming from behind a clump of bushes.

Alarmed, I slowed down to listen and panicked when I realized that what I
was hearing was the unmistakable sounds of a struggle: heavy grunting,
frantic scuffling and tearing of fabric.

Only yards from where I stood, a woman was being attacked. Should I get
involved?

I was frightened for my own safety and cursed myself for having suddenly
decided to take a new route home that night. What if I became another
statistic?

Shouldn't I just run to the nearest phone and call the police?

Although it seemed an eternity, the deliberations in my head had taken only
seconds, but already the cries were growing weaker.

I knew I had to act fast.

How could I walk away from this? No, I finally resolved, I could not turn my
back on the fate of this unknown woman, even if it meant risking my own
life.

I am not a brave man, nor am I athletic. I don't know where I found the
moral courage and physical strength--- but once I had finally resolved to
help the girl, I became strangely transformed.

I ran behind the bushes and pulled the assailant off the woman. Grappling,
we fell to the ground, where we wrestled for a few minutes until the
attacker jumped up and escaped.

Panting hard, I scrambled upright and approached the girl, who was crouched
behind a tree, sobbing. In the darkness, I could barely see her outline, but
I could certainly sense her trembling shock.

Not wanting to frighten her further, I at first spoke to her from a
distance. It's OK, I said soothingly. The man ran away. You're safe now.

There was a long pause and then I heard the words, uttered in wonder, in
amazement. "Dad, is that you?"

And then, from behind the tree, stepped my youngest daughter, Katherine.

Do all the good you can,

In all the ways you can,

In all the places you can,

At all times you can,

To all the people you can,

As long as you ever can-

WALK A LITTLE PLAINER, DADDY
SAID A LITTLE BOY ONE DAY
I'M FOLLOWING IN YOUR FOOTSTEPS,
AND I WANT TO KNOW THE WAY

SOMETIMES YOUR STEPS ARE VERY PLAIN
AND SOMETIMES HARD TO SEE.
SO WALK A LITTLE PLAINER, DADDY,
FOR YOU ARE LEADING ME.

I KNOW THAT ONCE YOU WALKED
THIS WAY, MANY YEARS AGO,
AND WHAT YOU DID ALONG THE WAY
I'D REALLY LIKE TO KNOW.

FOR SOMETIMES I AM TEMPTED
AND DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO
SO WALK A LITTLE PLAINER, DADDY,
FOR I MUST FOLLOW YOU

SOMETIME WHEN I AM ALL GROWN UP
YOU ARE LIKE I WANT TO BE
THEN I WILL KNOW A LITTLE BOY,
WHO WILL WANT TO FOLLOW ME.

AND I WOULD WANT TO LEAD HIM RIGHT,
AND HELP HIM TO BE TRUE.
SO WALK A LITTLE PLAINER, DADDY
FOR WE MUST FOLLOW YOU

Ice Cream for the Soul
author unknown

Last week I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son
asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God
is good. God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even
thank you more if mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty
and justice for all! Amen.

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a
woman remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today
don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice-cream! Why, I
never!"

Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it
wrong? Is God mad at me? As I held him and assured him that he
had done a terrific job and God was certainly not mad at him, an
elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my son and
said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great
prayer.

"Really?" my son asked

"Cross my heart." Then in theatrical whisper he added (indicating
the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad
she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for
the soul sometimes."

Naturally, I bought my kid's ice cream at the end of the meal.

My son stared at his for a moment and then did something I will
remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and without
a word walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a
big smile he told her, "Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for
the soul sometimes and my soul is good already."

The "Our Father" Prayer:
Do I Really Mean What I Pray?

Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta once said, "Praying the Our Father and
living it will lead us toward saintliness. The Our Father contains
everything: God, ourselves, our neighbors...."

Examine how well you live what you pray as you meditate on the following:

I cannot say OUR if I keep my faith only to myself and never share it with
others.

I cannot say FATHER if I do not trust in His loving and complete concern
for me, forgetting that He always answers prayers how and when He knows is
best.

I cannot say WHO ART IN HEAVEN if I am so attached to the ways of this
world that I neglect to seek God first in everything.

I cannot say HALLOWED BE THY NAME if I am unwilling to let His holiness
penetrate my life and help me grow in my own holiness.

I cannot say THY KINGDOM COME if I am not using my life to bring His love
into the world.

I cannot say THY WILL BE DONE if I live by my own ideas of morality or
choose to follow the world's standards.

I cannot say ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN if I am not devoting my life to
serving Him here on earth.

I cannot say GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD if I am not willing to be
generous with whatever God gives me.

I cannot say FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES if I don't want to put forth enough
effort to change.

I cannot say AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US if I still hold a
grudge, if I'm still angry, or if I still insist that other people change.

I cannot say LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION if I deliberately or knowingly
place myself in a position to be tempted.

I cannot say DELIVER US FROM EVIL if I'm not actively fighting against
evil through deeds of love and service for everyone in my life, especially
those who cause problems.

RULES FOR BEING HUMAN

1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours
for the entire period this time around.

2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school
called life. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn
lessons. You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant and stupid.

3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial and
error experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the
process as the experiment that ultimately "works".

4. A lesson is repeated until it is learned. A lesson will be presented to
you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it,
you can then go on to the next lesson.

5. Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that does not
contain its lessons. If you are alive there are lessons to be learned.

6. "There" is no better than "here". When your "there" has become a "here"
you will simply obtain another "there" that will, again, look better than
"here".

7. Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about
another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about
yourself.

8. What you make of life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources
you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.

9. Your answers lie inside you. The answers to life's questions lie inside
you. All you need to do is look, listen, trust.

10. You will forget all this.

Get Out of Your Own Way

Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it:

Your words, your dreams, and your thoughts have power to create conditions
in your life.

What you speak about, you can bring about. If you keep saying you can't
stand your job, you might lose your job.

If you keep saying you can't stand your body, your body can become sick.

If you keep saying you can't stand your car, your car could be stolen or
just stop operating.

If you keep saying you're always broke, guess what? You'll always be broke.

If you keep saying you can't trust a man or trust a woman, you will always
find someone in your life to hurt and betray you.

If you keep saying you can't find a job, you will remain unemployed.

If you keep saying you can't find someone to love you or believe in you,
your very thoughts will attract more experiences to confirm your beliefs.

Turn your thoughts and conversations around to be more positive and power
packed with faith, hope, love and action.

Don't be afraid to believe that you can have what you want and deserve.

Watch your "thoughts," they become words.

Watch your "words," they become actions.

Watch your "actions," they become habits.

Watch your "habits," they become character.

Watch your "character," for it becomes your "Destiny."

GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY!

May your tomorrow be everything you hope it to be - filled with God's
surprises! God bless you!!
