Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Keep yourself young in spirit always by thinking new thoughts
and getting rid of old habits. Lord, may my spirit never become
frail and my abilities never become barren.

Scripture for the day:

"It is God's will that by doing right you should silence the ignorance
of the foolish. As servants of God, live as free people, yet do not
use your freedom as a pretext for evil. Honor everyone." ~1 Peter
2:15-17

Meditation for the day:

Each new days brings an opportunity to do some little thing that will
help to make a better world, that will bring God's kingdom a little
nearer to being realized on earth. We can take each day's happenings
as opportunities for something we can do for God. In that spirit, a
blessing will attend all that we do. When we offer this day's service
to God, we are sharing in God's work. We do not have to do great
things.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that today I may do the next thing, the unselfish thing, the
loving thing. I pray that I may be content with doing small things as
long as they are right.

Hello my friends! Today is a very beautiful, sunny day! We do love to
spend time out in the patio! Watching the birds in the feeders is so
relaxing and they are blessings to have. Other than our wonderful
weather - it's been a relaxing and ordinary day - for me. My husband has
his last day of the week tomorrow - then he's going to have lots of hours
the next two weeks, because of someone quitting, so he'll need prayers to
cope with all that. We still haven't heard yet about the new job selling
appliances, but we're patient. It takes time in opening up stores.
Wishing you all a great night and a great day tomorrow!

Don´t Give Them Vinegar

The preacher placed two identical jars on the table next to the pulpit.

He quoted 1 Samuel 16:7 'The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.
Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

"These jars came from the same factory, were made of the same materials, and
can hold the same amount. But they are different," he explained. Then he
upset one and it oozed out honey. He turned over the other, and vinegar
spilled out.

"When a jar is upset, whatever is in it comes out. Until the jars were
upset, they looked alike. The difference was within, and could not be seen.
When they were upset, their contents were revealed. Until we are upset we
put on a good front. But when we are upset, we reveal our innermost thoughts
and attitudes, for 'out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.'"
(Luke 6:45)

What if someone tipped you over today??

What would flow out??

Would you reveal the "honey" of grace and patience, or the "vinegar" of
anger and sarcasm?

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of
sins." (1Peter 4:8)

Have a terrific day knowing that the one who upsets you may be just looking
for some honey - Don't give them vinegar!

Limits of Love

After the divorce, her teenage daughter became
increasingly rebellious.
It culminated late one night when the police called to
tell her that she had to come to the police station to
pick up her daughter, who was arrested for drunk
driving.

They didn't speak until the next afternoon.

Mom broke the tension by giving her daughter a small
gift-wrapped box.

Her daughter nonchalantly opened it and found a small
piece of a rock.

She rolled her eyes and said, "Cute Mom, what's this
for?"

"Here's the card," Mom said.

Her daughter took the card out of the envelope and
read it. Tears started to trickle down her cheeks.

She got up and gave her mom a big hug as the card
fell to the floor.

On the card were these words:

"This rock is more than 200 million years old. That's
how long it will take before I give up on you."

SIX POINTS TO HELP YOU IN YOUR MEDITATION

1. Read the suggested Scriptural text slowly and reflectively the evening
before; let the words settle in your whole being and become part of you.
This remote preparation is conducive to prayer because the Word of God rests
in the subconscious mind and conditions you for a personal meeting with
Jesus the next morning.

2. Choose a place and posture for prayer which is relaxing. Taking a
sufficiently long period of time to settle down and feel relaxed. If you
concentrate on your breathing you will find it a good means of relaxing.

3. Be aware of the presence of God. As you breathe rhythmically pronounce
the name of Jesus deep in your heart, not with your lips. This will prove
helpful in bringing you into the awareness of His abiding presence.

4. Take up the Word of God and read it reflectively with frequent pauses to
ascertain what message the Lord wishes to convey to you. Let it speak to
you, a word, a phrase, an expression at a time. Rest with it. Let it sink
into your whole being. Let it find a home in your heart.

5. Pray by listening and responding with love. Be for God and let Him be
for you. Rest in His presence. A lover longs to be in the presence of the
one he loves. God loves you and you love Him. Hunger for His presence as you
await His personal message for you. Then respond to Him in love and
gratitude as the Spirit moves you.

6. You will find it rewarding to keep a spiritual journal (a brief account
of the highlights of your hour or prayer). A rereading of your journal from
time to time will deepen the experience you enjoyed in prayer. This
repetition will be extremely beneficial for your spiritual growth.

Prayer for Trust in Jesus

O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.

St. Ignatius of Loyola
