Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Many of life's hassles are mere tests of our strength.
Lord, help me remember that patience can often diffuse
a situation quicker than a snap response.

Scripture for the day:

"May grace and peace be yours in abundance in the knowledge of God and of
Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything needed for life
and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory
and goodness." 2 Peter 2-3

Meditation for the day:

There is only one way to get full satisfaction from life and that is to live
the way we believe God wants us to live. We can live with God in that
secret place of the spirit and we will have a feeling of being on the right
road. We can have a deep sense of satisfaction. The world can have meaning
and we can have a place in the world, work to do that counts in the eternal
order of things. Many things can work for us and with us, as long as we try
to stay on God's side.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may have a sense of the eternal value of the work I do.
I pray that I may not only work for now, but also for eternity.

Hello my friends! Such another beautiful day we have here today - in the
60's and it's really nice out in the patio. I am enjoying the extra hour of
sunlight for sure! After this thread is out, it's out in the patio for me/
us then. Tomorrow night we have a couple come for cards at 7 so I'll try to
get this thread out before then. I've been thinking that this year when I'm
gone to Texas which we will be leaving Thursday night Easter Week to Monday
night, I'll just give this thread a rest for a few days, unless someone
wants to do it. I'll pick up with it again when I get back on Tuesday. Or
anyone can just start it by saying "Daily Positive Thread" and keep it
ongoing until I get back. It's up to you, or just give it a rest. It was
such a blessing to just sit in the patio today and watch the few birds there
are. Even a grackle is here! But waiting for our cardinals and hope they
find the way back here again!! Mickey and Myrtle - the love-birds.

Dear Lord, Please give me...

A few friends who understand me and yet remain my friends.
A work to do which has real value, without which the world would feel the
poorer...
A mind unafraid to travel, even though the trail be not blazed.
An understanding heart...
A sense of humor.
Time for quiet, silent meditation.
A feeling of the presence of God.
And the patience to wait for the coming of these things, with the wisdom to
know them when they come.

Amen.

God of infinite love,
I thank you for this reminder of your love
and your call that we be more patient,
gentle and compassionate with others.
Here in the middle of Lent,
I turn to you to beg for your help.
Please soften my heart.
Help me to let go of judging others.
I ask you this, in Jesus' name.

I asked God to take away my pride,
And God said, "No"
He said it was not for Him to take away,
But for me to give up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole,
And God said, "No"
He said her spirit is whole,
Her body is only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience,
And God said, "No"
He said that patience is by-product of tribulation.
It isn't granted, it is earned.

I asked God to give me happiness,
And God said, "No"
He said He gives blessings,
Happiness is up to me.

I asked God to spare me pain,
And God said, "No"
He said, "suffering draws you apart from wordly cares
And brings you closer to me."

I asked God to make my spirit grow,
And God said, "No"
He said I must grow on my own,
But he will prune me and make me fruitful.

I asked God if he loved me,
And God said, "Yes"
He gave me His only Son who died for me,
And I will be in Heaven someday because I believe.

I asked God to help me love others,
As much as He loves us,
And God said,
"Ah, finally you have the idea."

Maybe God wanted us to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one
so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be
grateful for that gift.

Maybe when the door of happiness closes, another opens,
but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one
which has been opened for us.

Maybe the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing
with, never say a word,
and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever
had.

Maybe it is true that we don't know what we have got until we lose it,
but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it
arrives.

Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you
back.
Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart;
but if it does not, be content it grew in yours.

It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone,
an hour to like someone,
and a day to love someone,
but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

Don't go for looks; they can deceive.
Don't go for wealth; even that fades away.
Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a
dark day seem bright.
Find the one that makes your heart smile.

There are moments in life when you miss someone so much
that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real.

Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to
be,
because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want
to do.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet,
enough trials to make you strong,
enough sorrow to keep you human,
enough hope to make you happy.

Always put yourself in others' shoes.
If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the other person, too.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched,
and those who have tried,
for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their
lives.

Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss and ends with a tear.

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past,
you can't go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and
heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so that when you die, you are the one who is smiling and
everyone around you is crying.

There is one who knows all your heartache;
He sees ev'ry falling tear;
His grace will bring you rich comfort
And help all your burdens to bear.

Though your path may be strewn with sorrow,
And lonely may be your day,
There's one who will walk beside you
And bring joy and gladness your way.

Though your dearest friend may forsake you,
And loved ones misunderstand,
There's one who will never leave you;
He'll hold to your faltering hand.

Come, kneel at the Cross of the Saviour
And cast your cares upon Him!
He graciously bestows pardon
And takes away burden of sin.

There is never a disappointment,
Nor heartache He cannot heal;
He'll answer your soul's deep longing,
As in His blest presence you kneel.
