Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Hello my friends, I do hope your day is going well, all according to God's plan for you, and I hope those of you who are not feeling good, to feel better right away! I've been blessed so far today with Lori - last night and tonight she'll be here for supper again, next week she'll be far away and can't even call me from Guatemala or text, but she said she could say something of Facebook though, so at least that's something positive to look forward to. I also was blessed this afternoon when I called my sister, Deil, and found out her foot is getting better - the corn is healing now - so I praise and thank our God for that! Thought I'd get this thread out earlier tonight because I'll be busy later when Lori is here. Hope you don't mind. Hope you like what I picked out for you for today. God bless you all and grant you all your hearts desires, all according to His Holy Will.

Not one day passes without receiving wonderful blessings from our loving
and generous God. Lord, may I forget the irritations that distract me from
Your happiness.
S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

"Seek the LORD while he may be found, call upon him while he is near."
~Isaiah 55:6

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

God finds, amid the crowd, a few people who follow, just to be near God,
just to dwell in God's presence. A longing in the eternal heart may be
satisfied by these few people. I can let God know that I seek not just to
dwell in God's presence, to be near God, not so much for teaching or a
message, as just for God. It can be that the longing of the human heart to
be loved for itself is something caught from the great divine heart.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may have a listening ear, so that God may speak to me. I pray
that I may have a waiting heart, so that God may come to me.
Mother Teresa Said...

With God, nothing is impossible. I perceive the infinite greatness that we can tap into. I see how He can work through us. Because you and I have nothing on our own we need Him.
As the Bible says, God waits and looks.
Will we respond?

February 10

Trust Me enough to spend ample time with Me, pushing back the demands of the day. Refuse to feel guilty about something that is so pleasing to Me, the King of the universe. Because I am omnipotent, I am able to bend time and events in your favor. You will find that you can accomplish more in less time, after you have given yourself to Me in rich communion. Also, as you align yourself with My perspective, you can sort out what is important and what is not.

Don’t fall into the trap of being constantly on the go. Many, many things people do in My Name have no value in My kingdom. To avoid doing meaningless works, stay in continual communication with Me. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
—Luke 10:41–42

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.
—Psalm 32:8 nasb - From Jesus Calling

Prayer to Practice What Jesus Taught

O Lord Jesus Christ, grant us a measure of your Spirit. Help us to
obey your teaching,
soothe anger,
cultivate pity,
overcome desire,
increase love,
cast off sorrow,
sun vainglory,
renounce revenge,
and not be afraid of death.
Let us ever entrust our spirit to the everlasting God who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and rules forever and ever. Amen.

St Apollonius of Rome, Senator, Apologist and Martyr (Feast day February 9th)

Five Finger Prayer

1. Thumb

Your thumb is nearest to you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you.

They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C.S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty".

2. Pointing finger

The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers.

They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. Tallest finger

The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators.

These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

4. Ring finger

The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is fact that this is our weakest finger; as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain.

They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. Little finger

And lastly comes our little finger; the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others.

As the Bible says, "the least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinky should remind you to pray for yourself.

By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.
Remember to give thanks in all things and ask forgiveness. And pray to do God's will always!

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Good Morning, Gloria, Have a nice time with Lori. I'm glad she can use Facebook somehow to stay in touch. We're not on it, so I have no idea how it works. I hope Linus didn't have too hard of a time with the snow. We had our deck steps shoveled after the snow fell from the roof. It's a metal roof, and the snow usually falls like an avalanche. We'll be getting some snow stoppers asap, to help it fall in smaller increments at a time, making clearing it so much easier.

I don't remember the "5 Finger Prayer". very neat way to remember everyone. Somewhere I read how someone took a simple wooden cross, tied a ribbon around it, and added a single daffodil to it. It sounded so pretty to me, and I plan to copy it for spring, as we received that same,, simple type of cross, years ago from church when they remodeled. I don't know if it was wood actually taken from the church itself, but it's beauty lies in how simple it is, and I'm excited to add just a little to it, to make it even nicer.

I still don't know what tomorrows storm is bringing. We're in for the deep freeze here by the weekend too. If it's a nice sunny day today, I wouldn't mind going out to Sam's Club or anywhere, just to get out for a little while. Lately we've needed more trips to the grocery, and at least it's been a chance to see folks and know things are still normal despite the cold. We had winter start later here, after New Years, so I've a feeling it will drag on longer for us. May as well work with it, as it can't be changed....

Hope everyone has a good day, and ready for the next round of weather if you're in one of the cold areas. Stay safe, pinky

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Hi Pinky, Thanks - I'll enjoy having Lori over for lunch and all the times she can make it before she leaves!!! I'll miss her - it'll be two weeks that I can't even call her or text her. On Facebook she can private message me there and I her, she said there's a place there where they have Wi-Fi. I think whoever thought up that 5 - finger prayer is clever!!! The cross you mentioned, sounds like something Father Jerry gave us - one for each - to remind us to pray for someone. It stopped snowing - sun is out, but it's cold and windy.
