Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Through God we have the power to triumph over even the most hopeless
of tragedies. Lord, You have said, "Ask and You shall receive", so I ask
that You will prepare me day by day to triumph in my dark hours.

Scripture for the day:

"I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your
progress and joy in faith, so that I may share abundantly in your
boasting in Christ Jesus when I come to you again. Only, live your
life
in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that, whether I come
and see you or am absent and hear about you, I will know that you are
standing firm in one spirit, striving side by side with one mind for
the faith of the gospel, and are in no way intimidated by your
opponents. For them this is evidence of their destruction, but of your
salvation." ~Philippians 1:25-28

Meditation for the day:

Spiritual progress is the law of our being. We can try to see around
us more and more of beauty and truth, knowledge and power. Today we
can try to be stronger, braver, more loving as a result of what we did
yesterday. This law of spiritual progress gives meaning and purpose
to our lives. We can always expect better things ahead. We can
accomplish much good through the strength of God's spirit in us. We
need not be discouraged. The world is sure to get better, in spite of
setbacks of war, hate, and greed. We can be part of the cure of the
world's ills, rather than part of the disease.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may keep progressing the better life. I pray that I may
be a part of the forces for good in the world.

Greetings my friends! Hope your day went well - today I had a surprise
visitor after work - my former neighbor who lived next door to me and our
kids grew up together. It was so nice seeing her again - she works in my
town. But her hubby is gone deer hunting so she stopped in for a visit.
Nice talking over old times, and new. She knows all my sisters etc. so kept
her up to date with Sister LaDonna. Linda didn't have her surgery yet, she
just had preps done and more tests and the surgery is scheduled for the
first of December.
She called me today - home now from the Mayo Clinic. Nice weather again
today - I walked Sammy around the yard today without a jacket on, very nice
out and no wind. Thanks for keeping Sister LaDonna in prayer - today she
had another bad day. She thought she'd go wheel herself to a computer there
and check emails, and write one to a friend. Hope that works out well for
her. So happy her pillow was found! For me - it was a good day - and Linus
wasn't too tired for work - now he's resting, but work went fine for him!!!
What an exhausting day he had yesterday though!

God's Table Manners

You undoubtedly felt awkward the first time you had to learn which fork to
use. But with that knowledge you can enter any dining experience with
confidence. The same is true when you dine at God's table. At first it seems
difficult. But learning the right manners makes it possible for you to be in
any situation and please the Father.

Table manners at God's table:

* You have to do your own chewing. Too many Christians expect God to take
out a spoon and dish up the blessing for them. He is supposed to place it in
our mouths, work our jaws to chew it up, and help us swallow it. We want God
to do everything. The fact is that you have responsibility in God's
sovereign world.

* Accept the seating. Take the lowest seat, the seat of humility and
service. If God wants you to sit higher up, He will show you that, but err
on the side of humility, not pride.

* Finish the meal. John 3:16 tells us, "God so loved the world, that He gave
His only begotten Son." Some believe that because God has already come and
died for the sins of the world, they don't have to do anything else.
However, it's important to finish the phrase regarding man's responsibility:
"whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." You
must come to Him in order to receive the forgiveness that He purchased for
you.

* Read the menu. You must spend time reading what God has prepared. Read
your Bible, meditate on the Word. It will give you strength and illumination
according to God's plan for your life. It will keep you on course and remind
you of your responsibilities in order to fulfill the plan of God.

* Count the fruit. If you are not willing to bear fruit for Him, then He is
not obligated to answer your requests, even if you ask things in His name.
Jesus declares, "Everyone that the Father gives me will come to me, and
anyone who comes to me I will never drive away" (John 6:37). The Holy Spirit
inspires us to go to Jesus and do what He asks of us. His sovereignty makes
the first move toward us, but because He gave us free will, we must move
toward Him as well.

ONLY ONE CHILDHOOD
Author Unknown

I stopped to watch my little girl
busy playing in her room.
In one hand was a plastic phone;
in the other a toy broom.
I listened as she was speaking
to her make believe little friend
and I'll never forget the words she said,
even though it was pretend.
She said "Suzie's in the corner
cuz she's not been very good.
She didn't listen to a word I said
or do the things she should."
In the corner I saw her baby doll
all dressed in lace and pink.
It was obvious she'd been put there
to sit alone and think.
My daughter continued her "conversation, "
as I sat down on the floor.
She said, "I'm all fed up I just don't know
what to do with her anymore.
She whines whenever I have to work
and wants to play games, too;
and never lets me do the things
that I just have to do.
She tries to help me with the dishes,
but her arms just cannot reach
and she doesn't know how to fold the towels
and I don't have time to teach.
I have a lot of work to do
and a big house to keep clean.
I don't have time to sit and play--
don't you know what I mean?"
And that day I thought a lot about
making some changes in my life;
as I listened to her innocent words
that cut me like a knife.
I hadn't been paying enough attention
to what I hold most dear.
I'd been caught up in responsibilities
that increased throughout the year.
But now my attitude has changed
because, in my heart, I realize
I've seen the world in a different light
through my little darling's eyes.
So, let the cobwebs have the corners
and the dust bunnies rule the floor,
I'm not going to worry about
keeping up with them any more.
I'm going to fill the house with memories
of a child and her mother
for God grants us only ONE childhood,
and we will never get another.

ALWAYS THERE

Hello God, I called tonight

To talk a little while..

I need a friend who'll listen

To my anxiety and trial...

You see, I can't quite make it

Through a day just on my own...

I need your love to guide me,

So I'll never feel alone.

I want to ask you please to keep,

My family safe and sound.

Come and fill their lives with confidence

For whatever fate they're bound.

Give me faith, dear God, to face

Each hour throughout the day,

And not to worry over things

I can't change in any way.

I thank you God, for being home

And listening to my call,

For giving me such good advice

When I stumble and fall.

Your number, God, is the only one

That answers every time.

I never get a busy signal,

Never had to pay a dime.

So thank you, God, for listening

To my troubles and my sorrow.

Good night, God, I love You, too,

And I'll call again tomorrow!

A man came to his counselor in great distress. He was a shopkeeper and they
had opened a supermarket right across the street from him. It would
eventually drive him out of business. His family had owned the shop for over
a hundred years, and to lose it would be his undoing, for there was nothing
else he was skilled at. What should he do?

The counselor said, "If you fear the owner of the supermarket, you will hate
him. And hatred will be your undoing. Here is what you are to do: every
morning walk out of your shop onto the footpath and say a prayer of blessing
over your shop, wishing it prosperity. Then turn to the supermarket and
bless it too."

"What! Bless my competitor and destroyer?" "Any blessing you give him will
rebound to your good. Any evil you wish him will destroy you."

After six months the man returned to his counselor to report that he had had
to close down his shop, as he had feared. But now he was in charge of the
supermarket, and his affairs were in much better shape than ever before...

ANGEL IN THE CLASSROOM

November 8, 2011

A pastor read a letter from an elementary school teacher who attends
East Hill Church. The gist of the letter was as follows:

Last school year, her classroom was made up of little third graders,
every one of which came from either a single parent family, or a
dysfunctional family, was undernourished and/or uncared for, lived in
an abusive home and
was either beaten, bruised, or raped by other family members; one
little girl's dad died of aids, and the list goes on. Her heart bled
for these kids.

Before the '99-2000 school year started, she and her husband went to
her classroom and prayed over each desk in the room. They prayed that
God would place an angel behind each and every child throughout the
coming year to watch over them and protect them. A month or so after
the year had started, she gave the kids an assignment to write about
what they would like to be when they grew up. Everybody was busy with
his or her assignment, when "Andrew" raised his hand. When she asked
him what he needed, he asked how to spell mighty." After telling him
how to spell mighty, she asked him why he needed to know. Andrew said
it was because when he grew up he wanted to be a "mighty man of God."
When he said this, little "Mark" sitting next to him asked, "So,
what's a mighty man of God?" The teacher, swallowing back her tears,
and knowing she could not say anything in the classroom, told Andrew
to go ahead and tell Mark what it was. So Andrew says, "It's a man
who puts on the armor of God and is a soldier for God." After
observing some conversation between Andrew and Mark, the teacher,
with a lump in her throat, started to walk away when Andrew motioned
with his little forefinger for her to come closer. He whispered to
her, asking if she believed in angels. She told him yes, she did.
Then he asked her if she thought people could see angels, and she
said she thought some people probably could. Andrew said that he did,
and he could see an angel standing behind each kid in the
room . . . . . .

I don't think there was a dry eye in the church that night! We need to
remember to pray for all of the teachers, that although there is no
prayer in school, that they are dedicated enough to pray for the
protection of God's angels over the lives of their students. Maybe it
wouldn't hurt, even at work.

Blessings From God

Blessings are God's gifts to us, the simple ones
or the great ones, they are produced by the over
flow of His great love for us. We recognize these
most often when they include a reprieve from
sickness or a financial provision for critical need.
But we are prone to take for granted the sunshine
that lights our days and lift our spirits, the affection
of friends and family, the kindness of strangers.

Everyday Blessings is to open your eyes to the blessings
around you, these blessings are to encourage you to bask
in the loving kindness of our awesome God. His blessings
will help you see God's hand in every aspect of your life,
filling it with His goodness, hope, joy, and peace.

Bless me, O Lord

Heavenly Father, Almighty God.
I humble myself before your Presence. What a joy it is to come to you.
I thank you and I praise for your infinite Majesty, Omnipotence and
Perfections.
Please forgive me all my sins.
Lord I come to you in my nothingness.
I want to worship you and adore you, to love you with all my heart, with all
my mind, with all my soul and with all my strength.
I want to burn with desire for you like an angel.
I need you my Lord, I am nothing without you.
I ask you to raise me before your Glory.
Shine your light upon me, allow me to walk with you and always do your Holy
Will , protect me and bless me O Merciful Lord.
Fill me with your Holy Spirit, grant me peace, love and joy. Heal me, bless
me and sanctify me O Lord; make me a blessing for all those around me.
Amen.

Good night all - Sweet Dreams and may your Wednesday be filled with all
kinds of blessings! We never know what He has in store for us! Praying for
all of you who used to post here with us, and for all of you who still do,
and for all of you who just come here to read. I love you all!!! God bless
you!
