Each day offers many opportunities to smile when others don't and be more
patient when others aren't. Lord, may I be an example of Your presence
within me and a reminder to others that You are there for them too.
Scripture for the day:
Jesus straightened up and said to her (the woman caught in adultery),
"Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" She said, "No one,
sir." And Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go your way, and from
now on do not sin again." ~John 8:10-11
Meditation for the day:
We can make use of our mistakes, failures, losses, and sufferings. It
is not what happens to us so much as what use we make of it. We can
take our sufferings, difficulties and hardships and make use of them
to help some unfortunate soul who is faced with the same troubles.
Then something good can come out of our suffering and the world can
become a better place because of it. The good we do each day can live
on, after the trouble and distress have gone, after the difficulty and
the pain
have passed away.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may make good use of my mistakes and failures. I pray
that some good may result from my painful experiences.
Hello my friends! How was your day today? A good fall day here, not too
cold, and an ordinary day for me. Made chili for supper - did have a nice
nap - called two of sisters, Erma and Deil. I heard that Sister LaDonna is
still in a lot of pain, but she did get out of bed for a few steps. Didn't
sit yet though. When she can sit she can leave the hospital. It seems like
they are weaning her off all those pain pills, so that's why all the pains,
but hope and pray that goes away soon. Thank you all so much for your
prayers and caring for her.

What Possible Good Can Come From This?
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.
Romans 8:18-25 / Lk 13:18-21
Suffering is one of those unhappy, insistent facts of life that we’d rather
not think about. It’s no respecter of youth or age, or of power or position:
all are treated impartially to its attentions. Afflictions of mind and
spirit, sickness of soul, agonies of the body, all take their turns in
upsetting our plans and hopes.
So what are we to do with the sufferings that inevitably come our way? What
are we to make of these uninvited guests whose invasion of our lives seems
to make no sense at all? Why does a supposedly loving God allow suffering to
happen? Those are questions we’d do well to think very hard about before we
face the worst of what life may bring.
If we are truly Christians, our answer is firm and unwavering: God doesn’t
create evil or suffering, but God does allow it so that a greater good may
come forth. In the abstract that can be a perfectly satisfying answer, but
when we stand in the midst of real life pain, the world is a much darker
place and it’s very difficult indeed to see God’s great plan working. “What
possible good can come from this?” we cry in anguish. We cannot see. All we
can do is trust and hope for what we cannot see, which means waiting with
patient endurance.
Cast your eyes upon the cross, whisper his name, “Jesus,” and let him walk
with you and share your hours one by one. You’ll never be alone. And even
though you cannot see it or name it, you’ll always know that you have a
future.
What the Saints Say About the Rosary
Our Lady speaks about the Rosary and the Hail Mary. . . "Continue to
pray the Rosary every day." Our Lady of Fatima to Lucia
"When you say your Rosary, the angels rejoice, the Blessed Trinity
delights in it, my Son find joy in it too, and I myself am happier
than you can possibly guess. After the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass,
there is nothing in the Church that I love as much as the Rosary." Our
Lady to Bl. Alan de la Roche
"‘Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee!’ No creature has
ever said anything that was more pleasing to me, nor will anyone ever
be able to find or say to me anything that pleases me more." Our Lady
to St. Mechtilde
What the saints have said about the Rosary and the Hail Mary. . . "If
you persevere in reciting the Rosary, this will be a most probable
sign of your eternal salvation." Bl. Alan de la Roche
"The greatest method of praying is to pray the Rosary." St. Francis de
Sales. "When the Holy Rosary is said well, it gives Jesus and Mary
more glory and is more meritorious than any other prayer." St. Louis
de Montfort
"The Holy Rosary is the storehouse of countless blessing." Bl. Alan de
la Roche
"One day, through the Rosary and the Scapular, Our Lady will save the
world." St. Dominic
"Never will anyone who says his Rosary every day be led astray. This
is a statement that I would gladly sign with my blood." St. Louis de
Montfort
"If you say the Rosary faithfully unto death, I do assure you that, in
spite of the gravity of your sins, 'you wil receive a never-fading
crown of glory' (1 Peter 5:4)." St. Louis de Montfort
"The Rosary is THE weapon." Blessed Padre Pio
"You must know that when you ‘hail’ Mary, she immediately greets you!
Don’t think that she is one of those rude women of whom there are so
many - on the contrary, she is utterly courteous and pleasant. If you
greet her, she will answer you right away and converse with you!" St.
Bernardine of Siena
"Recite your Rosary with faith, with humility, with confidence, and
with perseverance." St. Louis de Montfort
U TURNS
Author Unknown
"Thanks for inviting me to go to church with you next Sunday, Uncle
Al." Tim and his uncle were on their way to Bonny Lake. They had heard
the fishing there was great. "I . . . I don't want to hurt your
feelings," continued Tim, "but . . . well . . . I'm not sure I want to
get into this religious stuff. Besides, Mom and Dad don't think it's a
good idea."
"Oh?" asked Uncle Al in surprise. "I thought you said that your
parents wouldn't mind if you went with me. You sounded quite
interested last week. You even said the Gospel was beginning to make
sense to you."
"Yeah, but since then I've done a lot of thinking," Tim said slowly.
"I don't think I feel like getting 'saved' right now. The crowd I hang
around with at school wouldn't understand, and I like being with them.
Someday I'll start going to church, but I think I'll just go on the
way I am for a while. I know I'm not perfect, but I'm not so bad,
either."
Tim's uncle drove on silently for a few minutes. "Oh, no!" he
exclaimed as they passed a road sign. "I was so intent on our
conversation that I missed the turnoff! We should have gotten off this
road five miles back!"
"Guess we'll have to turn around and go back now, huh?" asked Tim.
But Uncle Al shook his head. "I don't feel like turning around right
now," he said. "I guess we'll just keep going this way. I kind of like
this road, and the scenery is nice."
Tim looked at his uncle in amazement. "But we have to turn around to
get to Bonny Lake," he protested, "and the longer we keep going this
way, the longer it will take to get back. If we wait too long to turn
around, we might not even get there in time to fish."
Uncle Al smiled at Tim as he slowed down for the next turn. "You're
right," he said, "and what you said just now is exactly what I've been
trying to tell you about spiritual life . . . that when you're
traveling down the wrong road, the sooner you turn around, the better.
If you wait too long, you might never get to your goal: Heaven."

PENNIES FROM HEAVEN
Author Unknown
I found a penny today
just laying on the ground
But it's not just a penny
this little coin I've found
"Found" pennies come from heaven
that's what my Grandpa told me
He said angels toss them down
oh, how I loved that story
He said when an angel misses you
they toss a penny down
Sometimes just to cheer you up
make a smile out of your frown
So don't pass by that penny
when you're feeling blue
It may be a penny from heaven
that an angels tossed to you

He Holds You
God never leaves you alone…
He never forgets about you…
He looks out for you and takes care of you.
You are more important than the birds
He feeds and provides for.
Trusting Him means to rest in Him
as your shield, your covering, your provider,
your defender and your friend.
It means freedom from worry, anxiety and fear.
It means peace to your mind and joy to your soul.
Come to Him; He is waiting…
Lean on Him; He is strong…
Talk to Him; He is listening…
Depend on Him; He will never let you down.
He holds you within the hollow of His hands
to keep you close…to keep you safe…
to deliver you from all your fears.
I'll Think About It
How often have you asked someone to do something and been met with, "I'll
have
to think about it?" thinking is something we all do. It is not confined to
the
intellectual, the well educated, the affluent, the people who have lots of
time. Everyone
is a thinker, and although only God and we ourselves know what our thoughts
are,
inevitably our actions will reflect our thinking.
But do we consider to what extent our "thinking about it" influences our
subsequent
actions...what we are and what we do. Suppose we were making a list of the
best things
to think about. Where would we start? Wouldn't it be enlightening to jot
down the thoughts
that have occupied our minds over the last hour? "As a man thinks in his
heart, so is he."
As free agents, we can let our thoughts roam where we will. We can dig
around in the soil of our mind, cultivating all kinds of thoughts:
complaints, criticism of others, envy, jealousy of
another person's possessions, talents, looks, position. Or, we can take a
different tack
consider Paul's whatever's. Truth, Honesty, Justice, Purity, Loveliness,
Good Reputation. These
qualities summed up are virtuous and praiseworthy. But how do we do this?
Surrounded
as we are with all kinds of people and every?
One proven method is this: when you find a worthless thoughts invading your
mind, recognize
it as such, and ask yourself, why am I countenancing such a thought? Then
quickly replace it
with something from the mind of God: quote a Bible verse, aloud if the
situation will allow.
I can't think of a better reason for memorizing Scripture than to have it on
tap for such occasions.
Although a good thought of our own might be an antidote to wrong thinking,
there are times when
it would not be powerful enough. The word of God is always quick and
powerful and is a discerner
of the thoughts and intents of the heart. "Think of that!
Since it is a fact that each of us is responsible for her thoughts, a daily
morning prayer such as
David's " Let the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight" will do
much to arm us
against unbidden thoughts. Our good thinking will then be reflected in our
actions.
Good night - Sweet Dreams - Have a good day tomorrow - count your blessings!
And let us continue to pray for one another.
