Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Hello my friends! Whew! Finally got in here - I tried several times and I get this sign saying this is not the sight I want to get! Well, it just wouldn't let me in until now. My blessings today - I had a headache again this morning but it went away after coffee, that's a blessing as I didn't have to take anything for it! We went out for the chicken special again at this restaurant where the waiter, Chandra, is such a sweet waitress! She has severe back problems, from black mold, mind you!! I recommended Dr. Mike to her last time we were there, and she said tonight she has an appointment with him right after Labor day. Please would you pray for Chandra, that Dr. Mike will be able to help her. Medical Drs. are not helping her at all, she's been to specialists even. So we pray for her healing. Dr. Mike with God's help, of course! He is so knowledgeable, and it all comes from God! Even if I don't always say this, know that you are all in my daily prayers for all of your needs. God bless you all!

Becoming overwhelmed creeps up slowly, one commitment at a time.

Lord, help me regain my time and sanity, accomplish my priorities

without major setbacks, and have quiet time left to nurture my spirit.

Scripture for the day:

"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens,

and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me;

for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your

souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." ~Matthew 11:28

Meditation for the day:

We can rest now until life, eternal life, flowing through our veins

and heart and mind, bids us to bestir ourselves. Then glad work can

follow. Tired work is never effective. The strength of God's spirit

is always available to the tired mind and body. God is our physician

and our healer. We can look to these quiet times of communion with God

for rest, for peace, for cure. Then we can rise, refreshed in spirit

and go out to work, knowing that our strength is able to meet any

problems because it is reinforced by God's power.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that the peace I have found will make me effective. I pray

that I may be relieved of all strain during this day.

LOOK ON THE SUNNY SIDE

There are always two sides the good and the bad,

The dark & the light, the sad & the glad.

But in looking back over the good & the bad,

We're aware of the number of good things we've had,

And in counting our blessings, we find when we'er through,

We've no reason at all to complain or be blue.

So thank God for the good things He has already done,

And be grateful to Him for the battles you've won,

And know that the same God who helped you before,

Is ready & willing to help you once more.

Then with faith in your hearts, reach out for God's Hand

and accept what He sends, though you can't understand.

For our Father in Heaven always knows what is best,

And if you trust in His wisdom, your life will be blessed.

So always remember that whateverbetide you,

You are never alone, for God is beside you.

Bench Marks

A man phoned his physician and excitedly exclaimed: "Please come at once,

doctor. My son has swallowed my fountain pen." The doctor replied, "I'll be

right over, but what are you doing in the meanwhile?"

"Using a pencil," answered the father.

What do we do "in the meanwhile" is of vital importance to our lives --- and

to the lives of others. What we do with our leisure time can build our

character or destroy it. It can make our fortune or mar it.

While we wait for a traffic light to change, we can pray for our president,

our Nation and World. While we wait for an elevator we can be still and know

that God is, and He is still in charge of the Universe. While we drive or

ride to work, we can affirmatively and joyously meditate on that which is

true, pure, lovely and positive.

While we wash the dishes, mow the lawn or perform other tasks that require

less than our complete attention, we can sing, whistle or hum the tunes of

great songs and hymns that inevitably make life more beautiful for us and

our fellow man.

While we sit in the waiting room of our physician or dentist, we can thank

God for dedicated professional people, and we can pray for those patients

who might be anxious, fearful, despondent or in pain.

What we do with our golden "in the meanwhile" moments can enrich and

inspire, encourage and uplift, bless and brighten our important corner of

the world.

~ Dr. William Arthur Wood ~

Give Me Strength...

Grant me strength, Dear Lord, I pray,

Control my life, don't let me stray.

When I feel angered, help me see,

That I can place my trust in Thee.

When I feel I'm sinking low,

Hold me, Lord, don't let go.

Don't let Satan have his way,

For I know he'd lead me astray.

Make me strong when I feel weak,

Let my ears listen when You speak.

Let not my faith diminish in Thee,

But save my soul and set me free.

Forgive me when I start to doubt

What faith and trust are all about.

Hold me Lord, in the darkest night,

Take away my fear and fright.

May Your voice be one, I always hear,

Saying to me, "I'm always near".

"I'll walk with you and guide you well,

But you My child, must not rebel".

Lord, I love you, forgive my fears,

Please dry my eyes from all these tears.

May I always place my trust in You,

Remembering, Lord, You've always been true.

Galatians 6:9 - So let us not become tired of doing good; for if we do not

give up, the time will come when we will reap the harvest.

The Jesus Prayer

O my Divine Savior, transform me into yourself.

May my hands be the hands of Jesus.

May my tongue be the tongue of Jesus,

Grant that every faculty of my body may serve only to glorify you.

Above all, transform my soul and all its powers,

that my memory, my will and my affections

may be the memory, the will and the affections of Jesus.

I pray you to destroy in me all that is not you.

Grant that I may live but in you and for you,

and that I may truly say with St. Paul:

"I live, now not I, but Christ lives in me" (Gal 2:20)

Mother Teresa Said...

I for God and God for me. I live for God and give up my own self, and in

this way God lives for me.

A Need Supplied

A young preacher had been away from home and was returning. He did not have

much money, just what he had been given in a love offering for his ministry.

He knew if he took out the tithe there would not be enough to cover the

expenses to get home. Still he took out the tithe and happily gave it over

to the Lord. Then he started to drive down the road.

He drove until he needed gas, praying that the Lord would provide. On what

he was sure was the last bit of gasoline in the tank, he pulled into a gas

station. Getting out of the car, he counted the little change he had in his

pocket and told the attendant that he wanted whatever gas that amount would

buy.

The attendant stuck the hose in the tank and went about cleaning the

windshield noticing a Bible on the front seat of the car. The gas pump

continued to pour gasoline into the tank and the preacher began to get

excited.

"You'd better stop the pump. This really is all the money I have," He said.

"Hmmm--OK," the attendant replied, and let the pump go on as he finished

cleaning the windows. Inspired from the preacher's pleas the attendant

filled the tank to the brim. Then, he led the preacher into the station.

Reaching up to a high shelf, he grabbed an old battered lunch bucket. "Would

you by chance be a preacher?" he questioned.

The preacher nodded and said he was on his way home from a meeting and was

about out of money.

"Well, I thought you might be. I saw that Bible in the car. I am a

Christian, but we don't' have a good church around here. So I have been

setting aside the Lord's money and asking Him to show me what to do with

it."

With that he opened the lunch bucket, reached in and pulled out a fistful of

bills and thrust them into the preacher's hand.

"That and the tank full of gas should get you home and help take care of

you."

This is a very good story that shows how God will be faithful in supplying

all of our needs when we stay true to His word and unwavered in our faith.

If you are worried over a particular situation, then I hope this story will

strengthen your faith to know that God will always be faithful to supply

every need that you have.

Deuteronomy 31:8 And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be

with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be

dismayed."

Giving to the Lord is our way of showing Him that money is not our source,

but God is our source. He is the One that gives us power to get wealth as

we read in

Deuteronomy 8:18 "And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who

gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He

swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

I encourage you to never allow the enemy to make you feel as if giving to

God has no reward. You will not know what blessings truly are until you

give your tithes and offerings joyously unto the lord.

He promises to pour you out a blessing that you will not have room enough to

receive it. If you have not tried God in this, I encourage you to try the

Lord and see if God will not do what He said He would do.

Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His

riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Good morning!

I couldn't get on yesterday so I gave up. Glad we can get back to posting.

Gloria, sorry you are having headaches, do you think it might have something to do with you getting outside digging and harvesting in your garden? Allergies? I'll say a prayer for Chandra. The big day is almost here, I know you are all excited.

Hey Harlene! Hope your foot is better.

Keep my uncle in your prayers, he is in the hospital with heart problems. He'll be 93 in Nov and is sharp as a tack, looks a lot younger than 93, his heart just acts up, time to time. Thanks for your prayers.

Keep our country and world in your prayers. My trust is in God.

Hello Everyone - been a tad busy the past few days.

Gloria: Glad your headache cleared up.

Lucy: Certainly a prayer for your dear Uncle.

Harlene: Hope your foot is healing.

shorelady: Always thinking of you - just remember you are bound by time in all of this; some days seems to drag, others seem to fly by, but time cannot touch your soul and your reflections on yourself. Keep the faith; you are loved and needed here.
