Hello my friends!! A whole day without a headache is a great blessing for me! Had it all night! But we're talking about our blessings here - I was able to take it easy today and I seemed to need that - so glad I did! Next Thursday Lori has arranged for her cleaning lady to come and do 4 hours here right before our party - that will be so helpful being I'm not supposed to use the vacuum yet. She is such a sweetheart - she is doing two massages trading with her so I can have four hours! Wow! She is definitely a blessing! She said on the 29th, which is our Anniversary day, she's taking me for a Pedicure! God be with you all, and answer all your prayers!!
Don't miss a single chance to enrich your life or the lives of others. Lord,
Your blessings are countless. May I always be aware of Your presence in
my life, share my blessings, and use my blessings to be a blessing to
others.
Scripture for the day:
"So we can say with confidence, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not be
afraid. What can anyone do to me?'" ~Hebrews 13:6
Meditation for the day:
We can make it a daily practice to review our character. We can take our
character in relation to our daily life, to our dear ones, our friends, our
acquaintances and our work. Each day we can try to see where God wants us
to change. We can plan how best each fault can be eradicated or each
mistake be corrected. We need never be satisfied with a comparison with
those around us. We can strive toward a better life as our ultimate goal.
God is our helper through weakness to power, through danger to security,
through fear and worry to peace and serenity.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may make real progress toward a better life. I pray that I
may never be satisfied with my present state.
My Morning Prayer
I come before You, Lord, In the newness of this day
To ask Your grace upon me, Your love to guide my way.
May I face this day with strength, A gift from You above,
And may I show to others The mercies of your love.
May I don my Christian faith Best to wear at its best,
So when temptations come to taunt I'm ready for their test.
Then when at last it's evening And I come again in prayer
May I not forget to thank You For this tender, loving care.

A NEW PRESCRIPTION
Are you needing a prescription for
what's ailing you today?
Well, gather round folks and listen
to what I have to say.
The best thing about it, is it won't
cost you a dime;
All it's gonna take is a little of
your time.
The medicine that I prescribe is
J-E-S-U-S....FOR YOU;
Just read the label in His book
and do just what it says to do.
Take a spoonful of worship and
a spoonfull of praise;
It will cure all your aches and pains
if you do just what it says!
Take a mouthful of joy and another
of belief;
From the trouble you've been having
you will quickly find relief!
Take a great big swallow of faith
and another one of hope;
I promise you it won't be long
till you find that you can cope!
Take a huge dose of forgiveness
and a large dose of love;
Then throw out all those pills of
depression and give thanks to
your God above!
I promise you'll feel better soon
and there'll be no doctor bills;
For God's your new physician
and He'll cure all your ills!
You won't need an appointment
He will see you night or day;
You don't need no insurance
For that He already paid!
He's always in His office
just waiting there for your call;
Whatever might be ailing you
He has the cure-all!
I'll bet you're feeling better already!
Well let's give Him a big praise offering!

Food For Thought:
WHERE?

Luke 10:25-37 The Parable of the Good Samaritan
From seemingly nowhere, the teenager appeared on the
beach. She removed her shoes and walked to the waters edge, testing
the temperature, I suppose. A wave rolled in too fast for her to
escape, and the water lapped upon the cuffs of her jeans. She then
retreated onto the beach and removed her jeans and shirt, laying them
by her shoes.Her bathing suit was all she needed. She frolicked in
the water, splashing and dodging waves, and seemed to be enjoying
herself. She was not paying attention to her pile of clothes on the
sand, but I was.
I was scanning the beach all this time, and was concerned
about her clothes. (My nature, I suppose) You see, the tide was coming
in, and with each wave the water inched closer to her clothes. I
could just pictured them being swept away into the ocean, her keys and
what ever else in her pockets lost forever.
There were many walkers on the beach this morning and I thought,
surely someone can see the impending disaster and move the clothes
back from the onslaught of waves. Where was someone to help? A couple
walked by; no notice was given. A family with 6 children walked by
the spot three times; no one paid attention. A lady playing with her
dog; same scene. Those clothes were only an inch or two from being
swept into the ocean. I stood on my balcony and hollered to the
family group…halloooooo… No luck! Actually,I may have been more
neglectful than the others, for I saw the problem at hand and I didn’t
do anything about it.Well, the girl came back to shore just in the
nick of time to save her own clothes. They were quite wet, but at
least not lost.
This entire episode reminded me of the parable of the Good Samaritan,
told in the Bible. Many walked by a man lying wounded and dying on a
road. They all passed him by for one reason or another, until the Good
Samaritan came by and help. He tended the wounds of the fallen man and
took him to a safe haven.
Of course a pile of clothes has no comparison to the value of a man’s
life, but I wonder, how many times each day do we pass opportunities
to help others? Where are we when needs arise?
Are we like the couple – so involved with each other that we are
unable to notice anything else ? Like the family – trying to keep all
those youngsters rounded up and safe? Like the lady with the dog –
focused on playing with her pet and the frisby? Or, like me – standing
from the sideline yelling for someone else to do what was necessary?
God calls us to be a Good Samaritan… not only in the major
needs we may see, but also in the minor ones. We need to keep out
eyes and hearts open so that we can help others.

Gloria, happy your headache is gone.
I would love to post the card on here, but I don't know how to do it. I could put it on my scanner but I don't know how to get it here. Maybe you or Lucy can give me step by step instructions, and I don't know how to cut and paste. Can you put it on page by page?
I really wish I could do that because I would like to put get well cards and birthday cards on. I would like to have been able to send a get well to Bobbiesue also.
Counting my blessings.

Harlene - Yes! Praise God the headache was gone all night! What a relief! On second thought it would be best if you could send the card by email and not here. I could maybe take a picture of it and send it, I'll see what I can do. You put a lot of hard work in it with your artistry talent.

Gloriajean: There is a thread here on Among Friends started by Loves Roses to you and Linus.
‎08-21-2014 04:59 PM
Here's a little joke I thought of while reading Gloriajean's post today.
Little boy to teacher.. "George Washington didn't tell the truth about chopping down the cherry tree. He blamed it on Popeye."
Teacher: "Why do you say that?"
Boy: "When his father asked him about it, George Washington said... Popeye (pop, I ) did it."
P.S. I apologize for posting such a corny joke, but we thought it was funny in the olden days.
May you have a blessed day.
