Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Jesus came to us to serve not be served. Lord, help me to set aside
my self-serving behaviors and model my life after You.

You will be hated by all because of my name, but not a hair on your head

It's not easy to be a true Christian. The price is laid out on today's
Gospel. "You will be hated by all because of my name." We may think this
does not apply to us. Then we need to ask ourselves if our faith realy
and truly sets us apart from others around us. And we can be comfroted to
hear, "... but not a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your
perseverance you will secure your lives.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may be a true Christian. I pray that I may trust in the
security the Lord gives me as He helps me see the importance of working
for those things which last forever.

Greetings everyone! How was your day? It sure got cooler and tonight they
predict frost so we need to cover things that we don’t want to freeze. Too
soon for that. This afternoon I was blessed with a massage - it was good!
And nice time being with Lori, also. Lori took me shopping a little to buy
some fruit jars and lids - she's going to can for the first time tomorrow
with her friend - salsa and maybe some taco sauce. Her friend is bringing
her canner. I had lots of tomatoes to give her as hers aren't doing so
well.
I'm not feeling the best - so I will go rest now and hope you all enjoy the
thread!! God bless you all!

What Does It Mean to Be Holy?
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

1 Tim 3:1-13 / Lk 7:11-17

As we were growing up, most of us were told repeatedly by our parents and
teachers that we should aspire to become holy, like the saints. We didn’t
know exactly what “holy” meant, but as the years passed, we saw all sorts of
statues and pictures of saints at home, in our church, and in our Catholic
school. We noted that in addition to halos, these saints tended to have
their hands folded and their eyes cast heavenward. And the more we thought
about it, some of us at least secretly decided that, if that’s what it means
to be holy, we didn’t want to go there.

After reading today’s Epistle of St. Paul to Timothy, I think it’s clear
that Paul would agree. In outlining the essential qualities for holy leaders
of the Church, he says that bishops and deacons should be men of faith,
kindness, and seriousness of purpose. But he goes on to underscore that,
among other very practical things, they should manage their children and
their households well. He’s affirming what Jesus said again and again,
namely, that holy people are those who don’t sit on their hands or stare out
into space but give their very best every day to build and hold together
their part of God’s kingdom, here and now. They’ll never do that without the
energy that comes through prayer, but prayer is only half the equation.

The Benedictines’ ancient motto, Orare et Laborare , to pray and to work, is
an apt model for anyone seeking to live a holy life and to grow whole, for
holiness is wholeness and it comes about only through that balance of the
inner and the outer.

Mother Teresa Said...

Am I convinced of Christ's love for me and mine for Him?
This conviction is like sunlight which makes
the sap of life rise and the buds of sanctity bloom.
This conviction is the rock on which sanctity is built.

If I Could Only Do It All Over Again..

Anyone celebrating any birthday beyond seventy is repeatedly pestered with
the usual question, "What was the secret of your long life?"

An elderly nun, Sister Ruth, was asked, "What would you do if you had a
chance to do it all over again?"

She said, "As you see, I'm a nun. As such, I belong to a group of orderly,
organized people who live a regular and healthy life. So that's what I did,
too. But there were times when I had my silly moments. And if I could do it
all over again, I would like to have more of those silly moments. In other
words, the next time around, I would not do so much planning. I would leave
more to chance. You know, I'm one of those people who carry around a
thermometer, hot water bottle and raincoat - just in case. The next time
around, I would leave all that gear at home. I would get up before dawn and
walk barefoot in the dewy grass. I would take a ride or two on a
merry-to-round. And I would not trouble my head about what anyone else
thought about it."

What this gray-haired Sister was saying was: "I'd trust in God more... and
leave most of the running of my life to him."

Healing Prayer to St.Faustina

Saint Faustina, you told us that your mission would continue after your
death and that you would not forget us.

Our Lord also granted you a great privilege, telling you to "Distribute
graces as you will, to whom you will, and when you will".

Relying on this I ask your intercession for the grace I especially need
now,

(Mention Petition)

Help me, above all, to trust in Jesus as you did, and thus glorify His mercy
every moment in my life.

Thank-You God for being my Comforter,
When my soul was weak
and the tears wouldn't stop,
When my heart was aching with pain
and I was searching for refuge,
When my spirit was broken beyond repair
and I felt lost and hopeless,
Thank-You for Joy.
Thank-You God for being my Teacher,
When I was ignorant to the Lessons of Life
and rebuked wisdom,
When I was rebellious against your principles
and rejected morality,
When I was hindered by obstacles
and blinded by self-doubt,
Thank-You for Knowledge.
Thank-You God for being my Spiritual Guide,
When I chose the wrong path to tread
and lost sight of my purpose,
When I didn't know the power of faith, prayer,
and forgiveness,
When I didn't know how to surrender all my
anger, fears, and temptations,
Thank-You for your Guidance.
Thank-You God for being my Counselor,
When I didn't know how to acknowledge nor
express my feelings,
When I chose Sin over Self-Love,
Thank-You for Revelations, Awakenings, & Resolutions.
