Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Talent is the ability to do easily that which others find difficult.
Lord, help me to recognize and value the abilities that I have
been given and use them gratefully.

Scripture for the day:

"Peter approached Jesus and asked him, 'Lord, if my brother sins
against me, how often must I forgive? As many as seven times?' Jesus
answered, "I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times."
~Matthew 18:21-22

Meditation for the day:

When we call on God in prayer to help us overcome weakness, sorrow,
pain, discord and conflict, God never fails in some way to answer our
appeal. When we are in need of strength for ourselves or for the help
of some other person we can call on God in prayer. The power we need
can come simply, naturally, and forcefully. We can pray to God not
only when we need help, but also just to commune with God. The spirit
of prayer can alter an atmosphere from one of discord to one of
reconciliation. It can raise the quality of thought and word and
bring order out of chaos.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may bring peace where there is discord. I pray that I
may bring conciliation where there is conflict.

Greetings to my friends! Hope your day is going well. I've been busy cleaning and getting the house in order again for another showing tomorrow morning and there's another one on Friday! Made a good chili for supper tonight! Is anyone on Facebook that would like to play Scrabble with me or Farkel? I'm off all those vill games, Farmville, cityvill etc. etc. With Scrabble you just put in a word and someone will too, and then when you come back to the computer you can put another in if it's your turn. It's really fun!
This morning after Mass we visited with a good friend - her name is Lois - would you pray for her? She is going thru a difficult time and we promised to pray for her. Thanks in advance.

Be Quiet and Listen!
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Gn 12:1-9 / Mt 7:1-5

Not so long ago, I found myself trapped in a long, unavoidable, and thoroughly inconsequential meeting, and the refrain of an old song began running through my mind: “Yakety yak, yakety yak”!

For most of our waking hours, we are surrounded by the insistent chatter of people trying to get our attention to sell us, persuade us, warn us, and blame us. And most of it we don’t want and don’t need to hear. So we develop the habit of tuning out and escaping into daydreams and out-of-the-body experiences.

It works well, once you get the hang of it, but it has a downside: It becomes a blind habit. We tune out indiscriminately, we become inattentive to life, and we miss a lot of what we need to hear.

There’s a better way to defend ourselves from life’s intrusive noises, and that is to create a quiet inner place where we can hear the things that really matter, the things the Spirit knows and tells our hearts when we listen.

Take charge of those outer noises — you can manage most of them if you decide to. And spend more time inside. You’ll be surprised at what you hear and what you learn from the Spirit, if you’ve learned how to create QUIET!

LEARNING CHRIST

Teach me, my Lord, to be sweet and gentle in all the events of life, in disappointments, in the thoughtlessness of those I trusted, in the unfaithfulness of those on whom I relied. Let me put myself aside, to think of the happiness of others, to hide my little pains and heartaches, so that I may be the only one to suffer from them. Teach me to profit by the suffering that comes across my path. Let me so use it that it may make me patient, not irritable. That it may make me broad in my forgiveness, not narrow, haughty and overbearing. May no one be less good for having come within my influence. No one less pure, less true, less kind, less noble for having been a fellow traveler in our journey toward Eternal Life. As I go my rounds from one distraction to another, let me whisper from time to time, a word of love to Thee. May my life be lived in the supernatural, full of power for good, and strong in its purpose of sanctity. AMEN!

Mother Teresa Said...
"The Eucharist is connected with the Passion. If Jesus had not established the Eucharist we would have forgotten the crucifixion. It would have faded into the past and we would have forgotten that Jesus loved us. There is a saying that to be far away from the eyes is to be far away from the heart.

This prayer was found in the fiftieth year of Our Lord Jesus Christ. In the 1500s, it was sent by the Pope to Emperor Charles when he was going into battle.

Whoever reads this prayer or hears it or carries it, will never die a sudden death, nor be drowned, nor will poison take effect of them. They will not fall into the hands of the enemy nor be burned in any fire, nor will they be defeated in battle.

Make this prayer known everywhere.

Glory Be To Jesus and Mary
A letter written by the Blessed Virgin Mary to the City of Messina where St. Paul, the Apostle preached the gospel, which has been preserved in the Reliquary of the great altar.

"I, Mary Virgin, servant of God, very humble Mother of Jesus Christ, Son of God, the Almighty and Eternity, to all who are in Messina, health and benediction in Our Lord. You have learned by the ambassadors who have been sent to you. You received the gospel and you acknowledged that the Son of God has become man, and has suffered the passion and death for the salvation of the world, and that He is Christ and also the true Messiah. I beseech you to persevere, promising to you, and all your posterity, to assist you in the presence of My Son."

(Great graces are given to those who carry a copy of this letter.)

Mary Virgin, very humble servant of God

Everybody Knows...

You can't be all things to all people.
You can't do all things at once.
You can't do all things equally well.
You can't do all things better than everyone else.
Your humanity is showing just like everyone else's.

So...

You have to find out who you are, and be that.
You have to decide what comes first , and do that.
You have to discover your strengths, and use them.
You have to learn not to compete with others,
Because no one else is in the contest of "being you".

Then...

You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness.
You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions.
You will have learned to live with your limitations.
You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due,
And you'll be a being that's vitally alive.

Dare To Believe...

That you are a wonderful, unique person.
That you are a once-in-all-history event.
That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are.
That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish.
And you'll be able to stay one up on what used to get you down.

DEVELOP THE RIGHT (SELF) ATTITUDE
Author Unknown

Here are 10 suggestions to help you develop and maintain a healthy
self-image. Read them slowly. Meditate on them regularly.

1. Hate your sin, but never hate yourself.

2. Be quick to repent.

3. When God gives you light, walk in it.

4. Stop saying negative things about yourself. God loves you and it's
wrong to hate what He loves. He has great plans for you, so you're in
conflict with Him when you speak negatively concerning your future.

5. Never be afraid to admit that you've made a mistake and don't
always assume that when things go wrong, it must be 'my fault'.

6. Don't meditate excessively on what you've done, right or wrong;
both of these activities keep your mind on you! Center your thoughts
on Christ.

7. Take good care of yourself physically. Make the best of what God
gave you to work with, but don't be obsessed with your appearance.

8. Never stop learning but don't allow your education to become a
point of pride. God doesn't use you because of what's in your head: He
uses you because of what's in your heart.

9. Realize that your talents are a gift, not something you have
manufactured yourself; never look down on people who can't do what you
do.

10. Don't despise your weaknesses they keep you dependent on God.

WINDOW THROUGH WHICH WE LOOK
Author Unknown

A young couple moved into a new neighborhood. The next morning while
they were eating breakfast, the young woman watched her neighbor
hanging wash outside. "That laundry is not very clean," she said.
"She doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better
laundry soap."

Her husband looked on, but remained silent.

Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman
would make the same comments.

About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean
wash on the line and said to her husband,

"Look, she has learned how to wash correctly.I wonder who taught her
this."

The husband said, "I got up early this morning and cleaned our
windows."

And so it is with life. What we see when watching others may depend on
the purity of the window through which we look.

Facing Rivers of Difficulties
by Herb Smith

A very tired traveler came to the banks of a river. There was no bridge by
which he could cross. It was winter, and the surface of the river was covered
with ice. It was getting dark, and he wanted to reach the other side while
there was enough light to see. He debated about whether or not the ice would
bear his weight. Finally, after much hesitation and fear, he got down on his
knees and began, very cautiously, to creep across the surface of the ice. He
hoped that by distributing the weight of his body, the ice would be less apt to
break under the load.

After he made his slow and painful journey about halfway across the river, he
suddenly heard the sound of singing behind him. Out of the dusk there came a
four-horse load of coal driven by a man singing merrily as he went his carefree
way. Here was the traveler, fearfully inching his way on his hands and knees.
And there, as if whisked along by the winter's wind, went the driver, his
horses, his sled, and the heavy load of coal over the same river!

This story illustrates how so many of us go through life. Some stand on the
banks of decisions unable to make up their minds about the course to take.
Others stand on the banks trying to muster enough courage to cross over to the
other side of the task or problem encountered. On the other hand, some
individuals crawl and creep through life for fear of thin ice. Their faith is
not strong enough to hold them up. Still there are those who whisk along
whistling as they go. Their faith is unshakable.

When we face rivers of difficulties we do not have to fear, nor do we have to
creep through life. God has promised to help, and with God's help we can
merrily make our way to the other side, safely.

"Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the
ground without your Father's knowledge. Even all the hairs of your head are
counted. So do not be afraid, you are worth more than many sparrows."

My Prayer to Our Mother Mary

Hail and praise be unto thee, Mary, whom God Almighty has exalted above all of his other servants!! God has entrusted us unto your care and graciously grants any request that you make of Him on our behalf, if it is in accordance with His Divine Will. Our hearts burn with zeal as we honor you our Mother. We love you as a child loves a mother and you love us as mother loves her children. Please guide us, your little ones, to our Eternal and Almighty Father God through our prayers and through your love for us. Many in this world may slander and degrade you while still claiming to exalt God, please forgive them and pray for them for they may dishearten your devoted children. May we be made worthy of the promises of Christ through your prayers. You love us so freely and we are so unworthy of it. You love us because God and Christ loved us first. Mary, mother, I love you. Amen.

Good night everyone - sweet dreams to all and may your Tuesday be very blessed!! God bless you all!
