Hello my friends! We got back today - Lori's paining now because yesterday she overdid it with the birthday party for my sisters - went back to the surgeon this morning, they put new contacts in her for until Thursday when they come out and she should be good. They seem to bother her, but need to be in for her cornea to heal. She is here with us now, Linus went back to work today - has one more hour. Thanks for keeping the thread alive those four days! It was nice reading your posts but thought I'll just start the new thread for tomorrow - It sure was nice to all be together again - a Sister Time! Lots of food, too! Both dogs were no problem at my sister's. She even has a fenced in back yard!! Felicia - so sorry - I've prayed for you and your daughter. Praying for all of you, my friends! to disagree when necessary without being disagreeable.

Meditation for the day:
The life-line, the line of rescue, is the line from the soul to God.
On
one end of the life-line is our faith and on the other end is God's power.
It can be a strong line and no soul can be overwhelmed who is linked to God
by it. I can trust in this life-line and never be afraid. God can save me
from doing wrong and from the cares and troubles of life. I can look to God
for help and trust God for aid when I am emotionally upset.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that no lack of trust of fearfulness will make me disloyal to God. I
pray that I may keep a stronghold on the life-line of faith.
Prayer in Time of Change
Eternal and everliving God, I am involved in a major change in my life,
and it is quite unsettling. I know that for us creatures, change is
an indication of life, but I still find it hard to accept.
Enable me to see your hand in it, subtly bringing about your plan for me
and enabling me to come closer to You.
Make me appreciate the many good aspects of change
and learn to live with the bad aspects.
Teach me to be pliable and adaptable to any change,
fully aware that once change stops for me,
I will no longer be alive on this earth. Amen.
Prayer to Practice What Jesus Taught
O Lord Jesus Christ, grant us a measure of your Spirit. Help us to
obey your teaching,
soothe anger,
cultivate pity,
overcome desire,
increase love,
cast off sorrow,
sun vainglory,
renounce revenge,
and not be afraid of death.
Let us ever entrust our spirit to the everlasting God who with you and the
Holy Spirit lives and rules forever and ever. Amen.

Today's readings 3/17/14
Dan.9:4-10; Ps.79:8-9, 11, 13; Lk.6:36-38
Both Daniel and our psalmist implore God for mercy upon people just like us
"who have sinned against You". As I reflected on my own personal sins and
the effect they have on the people around me in light of what Jesus tells us
in today's Gospel I began to realize that I'm guilty of being more of a
cause instead of a solution to the problems facing our world today. That
truth challenges me to change the way I deal with sin altogether by being a
little more merciful instead of so critical, and not just toward others but
toward myself as well. Of course we all know that we need to "stop judging
and condemning", and that includes ourselves simply because we tend to be
harder on ourselves than we should be. I'm not saying we can excuse or
ignore our sins without doing anything about them, what I'm saying is we
need to be patient and merciful with ourselves in order to be patient and
merciful with others, and in an indirect way I believe Jesus confirms that
by reminding us that "the measure with which you measure will in turn be
measured out to you". Yes, we all know that we will reap what we sow, and in
order to sow mercy abroad we have to first sow it at home, and that, my
friends, is one of the ways I believe we will become "merciful, as Your
Heavenly Father is merciful" in dealing with all sin in our world.
