Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

If you would be ashamed to sign your name to your conversation, don't say
it.
Lord, my words can have far reaching effects. May the effect always be
good.

"No slave can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one
and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You
cannot serve God and wealth." ~Luke 16:13

Sometimes we'd like the full and complete satisfaction that we can find
in serving God and all the satisfactions of the world as well. It is
not easy to serve both God and the world. It is difficult to claim the
rewards of both. If we work for God, we can still have great rewards in
the world. We can also be prepared to sometimes stand apart from the
world. If we turn to the world for all the rewards which life has to
offer we can be disappointed. If we try sincerely to serve God, we can
have other and greater rewards than the world has to offer.

I pray that I may not expect too much from the world. I pray that I may
be content with the rewards that come from serving God.

Hello my friends! How was your day? I talked to both girls today – Lori called when Darla was in a meeting, and later I called Darla and she was on her way home from taking Lori to the airport. They had a great time. Lori’s plane got delayed so they got to spend more time together. Darla said they went to a winery yesterday – today they were having some wine out in their deck – the weather was beautiful! Now Lori comes home to 13 degrees and snow! Brrrr. I’ll be anxious to see what she bought there. They were shopping yesterday. Darla says that her former roommate, Jen, is coming to see her on Thursday and they will go salsa dancing! Jen is an expert salsa dancer, I saw her in action! She wants to get away from the snow for a while. And Greg is back in MN now at his house which had a leak and he had to take care of things, he is renting his house out, but will be back again on Friday and he got called back to work again so starts back on Monday – Great news!! Thanks for your prayers.
My blessings today would be talking to my girls – and Linus worked a short shift, so he wasn’t too tired and he enjoyed his day. I made some chicken soup for supper which turned out well. I even put in some dried beans for the heck of it – a little of that bag of 13 different beans, and that was good in it along with all the other veggies. A good, hearty soup! There’s some left-over for tomorrow – yumm!

With God All Things are Possible
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Sir 17:20-24/ Mk 10:17-27

There’s a line in today’s gospel which probably caused a lot of us to breathe a sigh of relief. Jesus talks about how hard it is for the rich to enter God’s kingdom. Well, we say, at least that’s one problem we don’t have. Not so fast! “Rich” is relative, and the fact is that no matter how little we have, we’re inclined to invest too much of our hearts in it. Whatever our status, we tend to ask of our stuff more than our stuff can ever give us. And that leaves us feeling sad, betrayed, and lacking in peace. And the apostles’ question becomes ours: “Then who can be saved?”

Listen to Jesus’ answer: “For man it is impossible, but not for God. With God all things are possible.” No matter how entrenched we are in going the wrong way on a one way street, God can show us the signposts and can help us reverse course. God not only can, but he wants to, as quickly as possible, with all the urgency of a devoted father. God can do that for us if we’ll only stop, look, and listen.

Why not try it? Stop, look, and listen. God has wonderful things to show and tell you, things that can change your life.

* A LITTLE TALK WITH JESUS *
«:*´`³¤³´`*:»§«:*´`³¤³´`*:»§«:*´`³¤³´`*:»

A little talk with Jesus
How it smooths the rugged road,
How it cheers and helps me onward
When I faint beneath my load.

When my heart is crushed with sorrow
And my eyes with tears are dim,
There is naught can yield me comfort
Like a little talk with Him.

Though my way is often dreary
And my walk is weak and slow,
A little talk with Jesus
Tells me all I need to know.

And He answers me so gently
In a soft and loving tone,
"I am with you always
You will never be alone.

He tells me that He loves me,
And paid the ransom for my soul,
Now He is my brother
His love has made me whole.

I cannot live without Him
His love is all I know,
A little talk with Jesus
Gives me all I need to grow.

Oh, I often feel impatient
And I mourn His long delay,
For I never can be settled
While He yet remains away.

So I wait a little longer
For His own appointed time,
And I glory in the knowledge
That such hope is ever mine.

In my Father's perfect dwelling
Where the many mansions be,
I will daily talk with Jesus
And He there will talk with me.

Wisdom

Early in his career the brilliant young lawyer Clarence Darrow was defending a man in court. The much older lawyer defending the other client started to make fun in court and referred to him as "that beardless youth."

Darrow answered him in this way:

"My worthy opponent seems to downgrade me for not having a beard. Let me answer him with a story. The king of Spain once sent a young nobleman to the court of a neighboring monarch. On seeing the young man, he sneered: Does the king of Spain have no real men? Why does he send me a beardless boy? To which the young ambassador replied: My Lord, if my king had supposed that you judged intelligence by the size of a beard, he would have sent you a goat."

Incidentally, Clarence Darrow won the case.

In the Old Testament the prophet Jeremiah was trying to avoid God's call to go and teach people and the Lord said to him: "Do not say I am too young." Jer. 1:7

Prayer to Honor the Name of Mary

O Mary, each time I say thy Name, I want to thank the Holy Trinity for having created thee so beautiful and full of grace. I want to honor thine Immaculate Conception, thy Divine Maternity, and thy glorious Assumption.

O Mary, each time I say thy Name, I want to unite myself with thee in co-offering all the Masses which are being celebrated throughout the world, in order to offer to Jesus through thine Immaculate Heart my actions, my prayers, my joys and my troubles each and every moment of my life.

O Mary, each time I say thy Name, I want to confide to thee those whom I love and those to whom I wish to do good, especially: . . .

I wish to receive from Jesus through thee all the graces of which I am in need: spiritual graces and temporal favors, especially: . . .

O Mary, each time I say thy Name, I want to remind thee that I am thy child and that thou art my Mother. Help me as thou didst help Jesus. Protect me as thou didst protect Jesus.
When I call thee, Mary, remember me!

It would be most efficacious to recite this prayer at the beginning of each day, preferably before our daily Rosary or before any chaplet. The name of Mary is mentioned no less than 106 times in the Rosary and at least once in most chaplets.

Closing Prayers:

THANKSGIVING FOR MARY, OUR MOTHER

O Jesus, Divine Master, I thank and bless Your most merciful Heart for having given us Mary most holy as our Mother, Teacher and Queen. From the cross You placed us all in her hands. You gave her a great heart, much wisdom and immense power. May all mankind know her, pray for her! May all permit themselves to be led by her to You, the Savior of mankind! I placed myself in her hands, as You placed Yourself. With this Mother I want to live now, in the hour of my death, and for all eternity. Amen.

Prayer for Daily Neglects

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with al its love, all its sufferings and all its merits.

To expiate all the sins I have committed this day and during all my life.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

To purify the good I have done poorly this day and during all my life.

Glory be, etc.

To supply for the good I ought to have done, and that I have neglected this day and all my life.

Glory be, etc.

Good night everyone! Hope everyone is safe from storms and enjoy Spring coming around the corner! March 1st already. In 1965, this was the date my Mom had a stroke, and the next day she died at the hospital. Big Snow Storm!! It was awful! We had to be police escorted to the hospital - no one should have been on the roads. The snow then was higher than now. Let's hope that being March is coming in like a lamb, it won't go out like a lion. Please, God!
God bless you all - you are all included in my daily prayers. You and your families.
