Make it your goal to be someone that you would like to spend the rest
of your life with. Lord, help me approach my day interested in everything
that happens so that my life will truly be an adventure.

"If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have
love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal." ~1 Corinthians 13:1
M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y
"If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have
love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal." Love means to care
enough about other people to really want to do something for them. A
smile, a word of encouragement, a word of love, goes winged on its
way, simple though it may seem, while the mighty words of an orator
can fall on deaf ears. We can use up the odd moments of our day in
trying to do some little thing to cheer up another person. Boredom
can come from thinking too much about ourselves.

I pray that my day may be brightened by some little act of charity. I
pray that I may try today to overcome the self-centeredness that can
bore me.
Hello my friends! I was listening to Relevant Radio this afternoon and was
reminded that fasting and prayer go together - so I'll try to fast more with
my prayers. That station always has good thoughts to live by. I love it!
So I hope to be fasting more on Wed. and Fridays - and I'll have to think of
how I'll do it. Years ago I did during Lent fast on bread and water, my
homemade breads on those days but now I'm older, and don't need so many
carbs. I'll be spending some time with Him at Adoration tomorrow morning
after Mass - maybe I'll get some inspiration to His Will for me. Adoration
in our Parish is only on Tuesdays and Thursdays - it's such a blessing to
have in our Church. Today I want to thank God for all His blessings of
good food to have to cook with, warm house when it's cold out, a nice
little doggie who loves us very much and it's mutual, two lovely daughters,
a good husband, and many, many more blessings too numerous to mention. And
God gave me you, my friends, who are willing to pray for us - what a
blessing you all are to me!! Praying for you all for all of your
intentions.
Here are some sayings of Mother Teresa:
We should realize that poverty doesn't only consist in being hungry for
bread, but rather it is a tremendous hunger for human dignity. We need to
love and to be somebody for someone else.
Love
To do ordinary things with extraordinary love
Let us love one another as God loves each one of us. And where does this
love begin? In our own home. How does it begin? By praying together
God told us, "Love your neighbor as yourself." So first I am to love myself
rightly, and then to love my neighbor like that. But how can I love myself
unless I accept myself as God has made me?
Contemplatives in the heart
We are not social workers. We may be doing social work in the eyes of some
people, but we must be contemplatives in the heart of the world.
Created to love
God has created us to love and to be loved, and this is the beginning of
prayer--to know that he loves me, that I have been created for greater
things.
Something beautiful for God
What I can do, you cannot. What you can do, I cannot. But together we can do
something beautiful for God.
The child
The child is God's gift to the family. Each child is created in the special
image and likeness of God for greater things - to love and to be loved.
Family
The family that prays together stays together, and if they stay together
they will love one another as God has loved each one of them. And works of
love are always works of peace.
Holiness
Holiness is not the luxury of the few; it is a simply duty, for you and for
me.
Trust in the good God who loves us, who cares for us,
who sees all, knows all, can do all things
for my good and the good of souls.
One thing Jesus asks of me: that I lean upon Him;
that in Him alone I put complete trust;
that I surrender myself to Him unreservedly.
Mother Teresa Said...
"Like Jesus, who submitted Himself to the common law of labor
and the common lot of the poor, we will not seek any special privileges
or treatment for ourselves, but be happy to be treated as one of the poor,
ready to be insulted, ill-treated, refused, blamed falsely,
or put into all kinds of inconveniences.
We shall not seek to defend ourselves,
but leave our defense to the Lord.
We will not worry about tomorrow
but will live the present moment intensely
with complete trust in God."
"The joy of Jesus will be my strength --
it will be in my heart, in every person I meet.
They will see it in my work, my walk, my prayer --
in everything."
"Do not worry about tomorrow, tomorrow will take care of itself."
Your Word Is Truth, O Lord!
We must trust God our Father. He knows what we need to lead a good Christian
life. He knows our hopes and our fears, our joys and sorrows. God will never
forget his children. Let us confidently listen to Jesus. He will lead us to
the Father.
PERSONAL PRAYER
Lord, I worry about so many things as I go through life! I get anxious about
my family, money, health, even death. People concerned with the ways of the
world become obsessed with things like food, clothes, property, wealth.
Help me to realize that you are a loving caring Father in whom I can place
my trust because you love me. The world is yours and you called me to play
a role in it. You gave me the gifts I needed to do what you wanted. Yet
ambition and jealousy have invaded my life and distracted me from placing
all my trust in you. You keep the world going and keep me alive because I
still have something to offer - my task unfinished.
Help me, Lord, to put my trust in you rather than in the world. Let my soul
find real rest in your company rather than waste time anxiously searching
the world.
You alone are my rock, my fortress, my refuge. I´ll try to trust you more
deeply at all times as I pour out my heart to your willing ears. Amen.
Wisdom of the Saints
"The recollection of an injury is . . . a rusty arrow and poison for the
soul"
St. Francis of Paola
"Jacob did not cease to be a Saint because he had to attend to his flocks"
St. Teresa of Avila
"We can't have full knowledge all at once. We must start by believing;
then afterwards we may be led on to master the evidence for ourselves"
St. Thomas Aquinas
"From Mary we learn to surrender to God's Will in all things.
From Mary we learn to trust even when all hope seems gone.
From Mary we learn to love Christ her Son and the Son of God"
Pope John Paul II
"Prayer reveals to souls the vanity of earthly goods
and pleasures. It fills them with light, strength
and consolation; and gives them a foretaste of the calm bliss
of our heavenly home"
St. Rose of Viterbo
The Cross Is . . .
the cross is the hope of Christians
the cross is the resurrection of the dead
the cross is the way of the lost
the cross is the savior of the lost
the cross is the staff of the lame
the cross is the guide of the blind
the cross is the strength of the weak
the cross is the doctor of the sick
the cross is the aim of the priests
the cross is the hope of the hopeless
the cross is the freedom of the slaves
the cross is the power of the kings
the cross is the water of the seeds
the cross is the consolation of the bondsmen
the cross is the source of those who seek water
the cross is the cloth of the naked.
We thank you, Father, for the cross.
FAITH Is:
RELIANCE ON the certainty that GOD has a pattern for my life, when
everything else seems meaningless.
REMEMBERING I am GOD's priceless treasure, when I feel utterly
useless.
DEPENDING ON the fact that GOD is love - not on my ability to figure
out why - in the midst of smashed hopes, reversal and tragedy.
KEEPING ON when I'm dog-tired, discouraged, disillusioned, deserted,
dusty, and dry and I cast on His strength alone.
REALIZING that I am useful to GOD, not in spite of my scars, but
because of them.
CONFIDENCE that GOD is acting for my highest good when He answers
"No" to my prayers.
ACCEPTING the truth that, in spite of the wreckage and grief I've
caused, GOD has wiped the slate clean and delights in me!
RECOGNIZING GOD is the LORD of time, when my idea of timing doesn't
agree with HIS.
AN ASSURANCE (not a vague hope) of a happy hereafter of Heaven, based
on my trust in CHRIST's death as payment for my sins.
REMEMBERING that, though my way is as dark as night to me, GOD can
see and guides me unerringly.
DOING the right thing regardless of the consequences, knowing GOD
will turn the ultimate effect to good.
Nails meant For Me
The nail was driven through His hand,
Oh the pain that was unjustly dealt.
But much worse was the agony,
Of mankind's sin He felt.
The crown of thorns that tore into His scalp,
Was a punctuation to mankind's rejection.
The world denied the King of kings,
A man who attained perfection.
In a moment all was finished,
Christ's work was done,
He had accomplished the Father's will,
That he chose for His only begotten Son.
The nails of pain, He took for our sins,
They were nails meant for me,
But thanks to God's Grace,
The nails of death I will never see.
