Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Hello my friends!! Today's blessings, first, having lunch with a couple in our old hometown 1/2 hour away - we had some bank business to do and Karen works at the bank and took care of us, and then we met with her and her husband, Ron, for lunch. It was so nice to have this visit! Made a real good soup for supper - Linus works until 8 - so he'll eat when he gets home. Ham and bean soup - one of our favorites and I only can make it when we have a ham bone. Just tasted it, it's delicious! Another blessing - this morning I wanted to know where EWTN is on the Dish network, and I googled it on my phone and right away it let me know what channel!! Isn't technology great - sometimes? Only when I can muster it, though. On Dish it's on 221. I mentioned another time that Sammy has a slightly enlarged heart, and that is why he coughs every once in a while. It seems to be getting a bit worse, so I keep praying for his healing too. Sammy is 10. Poor little guy! Wishing you all a good night! Pinky Ann, nice to see you here again on last thread, and Harlene. Thanks for posting, and Jan's surgery is scheduled for the 16, Friday. She is scared. Who wouldn't be! Thanks for her healing prayers.

Enthusiasm will be yours if you love God, love people,

and love life. Lord, the nearer I follow Your way,
the happier I become.

S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

"Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it. Turn
my heart to your decrees, and not to selfish gain. Turn my eyes from
looking at vanities; give me life in your ways." ~Psalm 119:35-37

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

I can learn to overcome myself, because every blow to selfishness is
used to shape the real, eternal, imperishable me. As I overcome
myself, I can gain that power which God releases in my soul. And I
too can be victorious. It is not the difficulties of life that I have
to conquer, so much as my own selfishness.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may obey God and walk with God and listen to God. I
pray that I may strive to overcome my own selfishness.

RE: Personnel Evaluations

Thank you for submitting the resumes of the twelve men you have picked for
managerial positions in your new organization. All of them have now taken
our battery of tests, and we have not only run the results through our
computers, but also arranged personal interviews for each of them with our
psychologist and vocation aptitude consultant.

It is the opinion of the staff that most of your nominees are lacking in
background, education and vocational aptitude for the type of enterprise you
are undertaking. They do not have the team concept. We would recommend that
you continue your search for persons of experience in managerial ability and
proven capacity. We have summarized the findings of our study below:

Simon Peter is emotional, unstable and given to fits of temper.

Andrew has absolutely no quality of leadership.

The two brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, place personal
interests above Company loyalty.

Thomas demonstrates a questioning attitude that would tend to undermine
morale.

We believe it is our duty to tell you that Matthew has been blacklisted by
the Greater Jerusalem Better Business Bureau.

James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus, definitely have radical leanings.
Additionally, they both registered high scores on the manic depressive
scale.

However, one of the candidates shows great potential. He's a man of ability
and resourcefulness; he is a great networker; has a keen business mind; and
has strong contacts in influential circles. He's highly motivated, very
ambitious and adept with financial matters. We recommend Judas Iscariot as
your Controller and Chief Operating Officer.

All the other profiles are self-explanatory. We wish you the utmost success
in your new venture.

What if Jesus had chosen the twelve based on the modern methods of
leadership selection? Most of them would have never had a chance to
participate. Jesus chooses people not for who they are, but for what they
can become in Him. Aren't you glad that when Jesus looked at you, He didn't
take you for what you were (a sinner); but He took you for what you could
be? Jesus sees the potential in all of us, and has called us to be
disciples. Jesus is still saying, "Follow Me!"

Too Often

Too often we don't realize
what we have until it is gone

Too often we wait too late to say
"I'm sorry - I was wrong."

Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones
we hold dearest to our hearts

And we allow foolish things
to tear our lives apart.

Far too many times we let
unimportant things into our minds

And then it's usually too late
to see what made us blind.

So be sure that you let people know
how much they mean to you.

Take that time to say the words
before your time is through.

Be sure that you appreciate
everything you've got

And be thankful for the little things
in Life that mean a lot.

Growing old surrounded by those we love
is a privilege denied to many
Never leave behind regrets.

A whole new year is mine today...
May I be wiser, Lord, I pray!

I'd strengthen friendships, old and true,
And learn to cherish new ones, too;
To keep on learning and to grow
A little better as I go.

To cast aside each grudge and grief.
And hold fast to a firm belief
That life is joyous, gracious, good
When lived in terms of brotherhood!

To welcome fun, and play a while,
To lighten work with a happy smile!
To thank the Lord and every day
Remember Him, and kneel to pray
In gratitude for strength and health
And blessings which are all my wealth!

This year's a gift from God to me
To spend, or use, or set me free..

A whole new year is mine today...
May I be wiser, Lord, I pray!

January 12

Let Me prepare you for the day that stretches out before you. I know exactly what this day will contain, whereas you have only vague ideas about it. You would like to see a map, showing all the twists and turns of your journey. You’d feel more prepared if you could somehow visualize what is on the road ahead. However, there is a better way to be prepared for whatever you will encounter today: Spend quality time with Me.

I will not show you what is on the road ahead, but I will thoroughly equip you for the journey. My living Presence is your Companion each step of the way. Stay in continual communication with Me, whispering My Name whenever you need to redirect your thoughts. Thus, you can walk through this day with your focus on Me. My abiding Presence is the best road map available.

The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
—Exodus 33:14

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.”
—John 15:4–7 (From Jesus Calling)

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Hello Everyone!

We had the winter storm the weatherman predicted all day yesterday, so we didn't venture out anywhere. I worked on my kitchen cupboards instead. They needed just to be rearranged to make better use of the easy to reach shelves, and pack up some of the extras we have. If we seem to not need them over time, they'll get donated. I can't keep things I don't use. I'd rather someone have them that needs them.

Nothing planned for today yet as I haven't seen the forecast. It's hard to post without much going on, but I just wanted to check in and say hi. Hope everyone has a good day, and you're not having too many weather issues. Hugs, pinky

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Hello everyone,

Psalm 77:1-15 "I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me. (vs.2) When I was in distress, I sought the LORD; at night I stretched out untiring hands and my soul refused to be comforted. (vs.3) I remembered You, O God, and I groaned; I mused, and my spirit grew faint. (vs 4) You kept my eyes from closing; I was too troubled to speak. (vs.5) I thought about the former days, the years of long ago; (vs.6) I remembered my songs in the night. My heart mused and my spirit inquired; (vs.7) Will the LORD reject forever? Will He never show His favor again? (vs.8) Has His unfailing love vanished forever? (vs.9) Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has He in anger withheld His compassion? (vs.10) Then I thought, "To this I will appeal: the years of the right hand of the Most High." (vs.11) I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember Your miracles of long ago. (vs.12) I will meditate on all Your works and consider all Your mighty deeds. (vs.13) Your ways, O God , are holy. What god is so great as our God? (vs.14) You are the God who performs miracles; You display Your power among the peoples. (vs.15) With Your mighty arm You redeemed your people the descendants of Jacob and Joseph."

What a great passage to read. Especially if you feel just like Asaph.

Remembering the past can bring hope to the present.

Another cold day here. It sure has been an interesting winter so far I am still working six days, but that will soon come to an end. Last week on our coldest day, I had to call 911 for an ambulance. Someone was parked and slumped over the steering wheel, racing the motor. Would not respond when I went to check on them. Needless to say the person was on drugs. A police officer brought the young lady in the store to do all the sobriety tests and she failed...She told me her name was Charlie...I've been praying for her.

Harlene, hope things are going well. Warm thoughts and prayers. Hope your diet is going well.

Gloriajean, poor Sammy, prayers for him and your SIL.

Pinky Ann, hope your day goes well. When your done pairing down, you're more then welcome to come here and help me...I have a lot that needs done. Every time I start, something comes along and then it sits until I get back to it. And it seems to take forever. Lol.

Keeping all in my prayers. Thank you for yours. Until next time...

Take care, stay safe, and God bless.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Good afternoon I'm using my tablet so if nothing makes sense I'll blame it on that. Lol. My little grandson is doing good. Still has some pain...of course, but not needing meds too often. Please keep him in your prayers for a fast and healing recovery. Thanks. That Sammy, Gloria. He' cute in that pic. Hope he's ok. Prayers for Jan. Hey, harlene. Hope your day is going well. Pinky, sorry about your weather. I guess it is a good time to clean out. I'm like Juanita, feel free to come by when you've all done, I'll welcome help with my stockpiles. Lol J, that's sad about that girl. Too much of that mess going on. She needs prayer and I will join you. Today is dreary and cold. We are due for nicer days later this week. We both look forward to that. Will y'all pray for my stupid knee. It is giving me problems and I'm trying to avoid surgery. Thanks. I'm tired of poking on this tablet so I'll hush. Hope you have a peaceful, warm, blessed and joyful day....rest of the day and night. Well...all my paragraphs ran together. Forget this tablet!!!!!
Be still, and know.

Pinky Ann - you sure are energetic making use of good time stuck in the house! I like rearranging things in my cupboards too, making things more usable, easy to get at etc. And we, too, like to donate things we don't need anymore to Treasure Chest, it's a thrift store that gives the profits to Birthright, a very good cause.

Juanita - what a thought provoking paragraph of scripture. That must have taken you a long time to do and we appreciate it. Wow! you sure had quite the experience there at work, having to call 911 for someone. Good thing she'll be alright and it wasn't too late for her. We pray for Charlie, too.

Cakers - thank you! I love that pic of Sammy too!

Lucy - your tablet is just fine, better than I did with mine here. Great that your grandson is doing good! Lots of healing to take place yet, but he'll receive it in time. I sure do hope you won't need surgery on your knee. Try the chiropractor. Saved me!

Bobbiesue - hope to hear from you soon. Blessings to you. You are in my prayers.
