I've been busy at it all afternoon until now - now it's 7:30 PM. But it's done and I think it's a great accomplishment. I don't know how to create folders there yet. Anyone here have gmail and have folders? Well, that's enough to talk about tonight - praying for you all and God bless you in all that you do! May your prayers be answered!
When you are wrong, have the courage to admit it because it's the best
way to show that you are wiser today than yesterday. Lord, may I be
humble enough so that even my mistakes make me a stronger and better
person.
S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y
"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me;
for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your
souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." ~Matthew
11:28-30
M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y
We are so made that we can only carry the weight of twenty-four hours,
no more. If we weigh ourselves down with the years behind and the
days ahead, our back breaks. God has promised to help us with the
burdens of this day. If we are foolish enough to gather again the
burden of the
past and carry it, then indeed we can become unnecessarily heavily
burdened. We can forget that which lies behind us and breathe in the
blessing of each new day.
P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y
I pray that I may realize that, for good or bad, past days have ended.
I pray that I may face each new day, the coming twenty-four hours,
with hope and courage.

An old missionary couple had been working in Africa for years and was
returning to New York to retire. They had no pension; their health was
broken; they were defeated, discouraged, and afraid. They discovered
they were booked on the same ship as President Teddy Roosevelt, who
was returning from one of his big-game hunting expeditions.
No one paid any attention to them. They watched the fanfare that
accompanied the President's entourage, with passengers trying to catch
a glimpse of the great man. As the ship moved across the ocean, the
old missionary said to his wife, "Something is wrong.
Why should we have given our lives in faithful service for God in
Africa all these many years and have no one care a thing about us?
Here this man comes back from a hunting trip and everybody makes much
over him, but nobody gives two hoots about us."
"Dear, you shouldn't feel that way," his wife said. "I can't help it;
it doesn't seem right." When the ship docked in New York, a band was
waiting to greet the President. The mayor and other dignitaries were
there. The papers were full of the President's arrival.
No one noticed this missionary couple. They slipped off the ship and
found a cheap flat on the East Side, hoping the next day to see what
they could do to make a living in the city.
That night the man's spirit broke. He said to his wife, "I can't take
this; God is not treating us fairly." His wife replied, "Why don't you
go in the bedroom and tell that to the Lord?"
A short time later he came out from the bedroom, but now his face was
completely different. His wife asked, "Dear, what happened?"
"The Lord settled it with me," he said. "I told him how bitter I was
that the President should receive this tremendous homecoming, when no
one met us as we returned home. And when I finished, it seemed as
though the Lord put his hand on my shoulder and simply said, 'But
you're not home yet!"

Prayer unites us with Christ.
Simply open your hearts to Him.
Also, simply accept what He sends you.
With a big smile, generously give Him what He asks of you.
God will do the rest, never fear.
Meditations by Padre Pio
Oh how precious time is! Blessed are those who know how to make good use of
it, because, on the day of judgment, all will have to render a strict
account of it to the supreme Judge. Oh, if only all could understand how
precious time is, undoubtedly everyone would do his best to spend it in a
praise worthy manner!

You can achieve the victorious L I F E through living in deep dependence on
Me. People usually associate victory with success: not falling or stumbling,
not making mistakes. But those who are successful in their own strength tend
to go their own way, forgetting about Me. It is through problems and
failure, weakness and neediness that you learn to rely on Me.
True dependence is not simply asking Me to bless what you have decided to
do. It is coming to Me with an open mind and heart, inviting Me to plant My
desires within you. I may infuse within you a dream that seems far beyond
your reach. You know that in yourself you cannot achieve such a goal. Thus
begins your journey of profound reliance on Me. It is a faith-walk, taken
one step at a time, leaning on Me as much as you need. This is not a path of
continual success but of multiple failures. However, each failure is
followed by a growth spurt, nourished by increased reliance on Me. Enjoy the
blessedness of a victorious life, through deepening your dependence on Me.

On 1/6/2015 Danky said: It is interesting to me, Gloria, that I never pray for myself. I had not thought of that until recently. You quoted Ayn Rand in today's thread...."The question isn't who is going to let me; it is who is going to stop me" and that would be my personal mantra and my "prayer" for myself. There is so much REAL unimaginable suffering in the world, that my little slice of the prayer pie seems best focused in that general direction. I love that you feel gratitude for the everyday blessings of your life...as do I. I don't pray for those blessings to happen but I pray because they do.
Danky: Your last sentence is a wonderful reminder to pay attention to the good in our lives. Thanks for this reminder - I needed it today.

‎01-06-2015 09:40 PM
Thanks for your posts - and Danky - my words exactly what Cakers said here. That is true.
But I do pray for myself, too, when I'm sick, I pray to get better, I really do pray for myself, and pray that God's will be done in my life. I pray that I can be a better person day by day.
