Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

We don't choose how or when we will die, but we do decide how we will live.
Lord, forgive my frequent drifting and help me to see clearly the best path
for me.

Scripture for the day:

"But you are not in the flesh; you are in the Spirit, since the Spirit of
God dwells in you." ~Romans 8:9

Meditation for the day:

I cannot ascertain the spiritual with my intellect. I can only do it by my
own faith and spiritual faculties. I can sometimes think of God with my
heart as well as with my head. I can breathe in God's very spirit in the
life around me. I can keep my eyes turned toward the good things in the
world. I can empty my mind of all the limitations of material things. I
can sense the eternal.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that whatever is good I may have. I pray that I may leave to God the
choice of what good will come to me.

Hello my friends! How was your day after Christmas? Time for relaxing? For
me it was - I was so tired today - still am even tho I had a nap! Didn't
get much done today except the good chicken stir fry I made for supper - he
loved it!! He's taking some of that for his lunch tomorrow! Tomorrow night
we will be going to Olive Garden with the family and Greg said he's
treating! I can have my Marsala Chicken again - Yum! I just cannot make it
as good as they do, I've tried. It does feel good not to have to go to work
at Lori's and just stay here and get things done around the house - or take
a nap!! Linus just works today and tomorrow this week - lots of days off!
He can recuperate from the hard schedule he had before Christmas. Got good
news about Father Bernard - Father Jerry called me - was to see him, his
mind is very alert but he is weak, and being he was in a Nursing home before
they may release him already Wednesday to go there. Sister LaDonna says she
could feel the power of prayer too, so thank you all!
Today we had a weather breaking temp for this time of the year - it reached
52 - and it wasn't that since 1936 I heard! Wow! It was nice enough today
to take Sammy out on the leash in the back yard without a jacket on. So
nice not to have any snow or ice! Lots of blessings for today!! Thanks be
to God!

Working Wrecks - by Joyce Guy

I came upon a wreck, Along the highway of life; A sick sadistic man, Abusing
his helpless wife.

He hadn't learned the scriptures written long before, Love your wife as
yourself; You'll love her more and more.

The next mishap I happened on, Was a kid high on drugs, Who had no one to
nurture him, Give guidance and some hugs.

A woman out in sin with no concern for her own soul; Hadn't been with Jesus,
Or He would have made her whole.

I came upon a marriage, broken, Overturned along the way; Instead of love at
home. Both had gone out to play.

An aged man and woman, Lives filled with tears; No one to love and care for
them, In life's sunset years.

I saw a fallen hobo, Drunk on cheap red wine; He hadn't had a meal, Didn't
have a dime.

I fed and clothed the fellow, Told him of God above; The rest is up to him,
May he embrace God's love.

A little child abandoned, By a mom who didn't care; I took her to a place of
safety, And left her with a prayer.

Someone with broken pride, Gone flat along the way, Punctured deeply by a
fickle friend, I patched them up today.

I often dial emergency, Speak each name in prayer, Bring them all to Jesus,
The fallen everywhere. I work for the Heavenly Highway Patrol, Pursuing
lives and doing checks, Directed by my Father; I've been out working wrecks.

The Birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ:

"Jesus, what made You so small? LOVE!"
-St. Bernard of Clairvaux

"Today the Magi gaze in deep wonder at what they see:
heaven on earth, earth in heaven, man in God, God in man,
One Whom the whole universe cannot contain
now enclosed in a tiny body." -St Peter Chrysologus

"How great is God's goodness, how deep His love for us!
Let us join the shepherds in giving glory to God:
TODAY A SAVIOR HAS BEEN BORN TO US.
HE IS CHRIST THE LORD."
-St. Basil the Great

Christmas Prayer

I said a Christmas prayer for you
Because the season's near
I didn't ask for riches
But for gifts so much more dear.

I asked for joyful gatherings
With your family all around
And for carols to inspire you
With their old familiar sound.

I asked for quiet moments
In your heart on Christmas morn
For a special time to celebrate
The Savior who was born.

I asked for friends to send their best
That you might know they care
I asked for peace and love and hope
And I know God heard my prayer.

(Nancy Brummett

Christmas Comes But Once A Year

"Christmas comes but once a year,"
Is an old familiar phrase.
But what do you do with Christmas
Through all the other days?

With Christmas trees and Santa Claus
And tinsel shinning bright,
Many often fail to see
The star that shone that night.

Oh, truly Christmas is a time
For joy and much good cheer,
An a lot that goes with Christmas
Should come but once a year.

But the true meaning of Christmas
Is the love the Christ Child brought.
This should not just once a year,
But all your days be sought.

Please carry through the year to come
The truths Christ came to say---
And you will find within your heart
It's Christmas every day!

Good night now and sweet dreams to all - may your Tuesday be blessed! God
bless you!!
