Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Choose the direction of your day and then make a point of enjoying your choices.
Lord, help me to do what I can when I can, but also, help me to know when doing
nothing is the better choice.

Scripture for the day:

"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I
will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am
gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my
yoke is easy, and my burden is light." ~Matthew 11:28-30

Meditation for the day:

In our times of meditation we can seem to hear: "Come to me, all you that
are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." Again
and again we can seem to hear God saying this to us. "Come to me" for the
solution of every problem, for the overcoming of every temptation, for the
calming of every fear, for all our needs ... physical, mental or spiritual,
but mostly "come to me" for the strength we need to live with peace of mind
and the power to be useful and effective.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may go to God today for those things which I need to help me
live. I pray that I may find real peace of mind.

Peace of the Lord be with you! How was your day? For me it was an ordinary day but with a blessing of a nice card - from my friend, Ann, saying she's thinking of me and praying for me! Such a nice day brightener! Today was the first day our Prayer Thread started and with good results. Yesterday's got poofed. I'll just leave it be, and you can add your requests on to it. Nice, beautiful, sunny day here today again, so nice on the porch!
Let us pray for a safe trip for MrsT. Garage sale at Lori's tomorrow - still have some things to go.

He Never Turns Away, So Don´t You!
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Acts 12:24-13:5 / Jn 12:44-50

The Bible tells us again and again that we human beings are created “in the image and likeness of God.” Indeed, most of us have known that phrase by heart since childhood. However, there’s considerable evidence to suggest that in practice most of us have turned that saying on its head and have instead created God in our own image and likeness. That means, of course, that our idea of God is neither very large nor very nice.

Today’s gospel suggests that our making God too small is a very old problem. Why else would Jesus have had to reassure His listeners that He had not come to condemn us but to save us — all of us?

God never rejects anyone. Even on our worst days He still calls us by name and holds out His hand to us. It’s not God who turns away, it’s we ourselves who reject His hand and close our ears to His voice. And in doing so, we cut ourselves off from the source of life and joy.

Don’t do that. Not even for an instant. Trust the Lord’s love for you. Take His hand, and don’t ever let go! Let God be God for you.

A Prayer to Our Lady in Time of Trouble

Holy Virgin Mary, you are reigning in glory, with Jesus, your Son.
Remember us in our sadness. Look kindly on all who are suffering
or fighting against any difficulty.
Have pity on those who are separated from someone they love.
Have pity on the loneliness of our hearts.
Have pity on the weakness of our faith and love.
Have pity on those who are weeping, on those who are praying, on those who are fearful.
Holy Mother, please obtain for all of us hope and peace with justice.
Amen.

What if,
GOD couldn't take the time to bless us today because
we couldn't take the time to thank Him yesterday?

What if,
GOD decided to stop leading us tomorrow because
we didn't follow Him today?

What if,
we never saw another flower bloom because
we grumbled when GOD sent the rain?

What if,
GOD didn't walk with us today because
we failed to recognize it as His day?

What if,
GOD took away the Bible tomorrow because
we would not read it today?

What if,
GOD took away His message because
we failed to listen to the messenger?

What if,
GOD didn't send His only begotten Son because
He wanted us to be prepared to pay the price for sin.

What if,
the door of the church was closed because
we did not open the door of our heart?

What if,
GOD stopped loving and caring for us because
we failed to love and care for others?

What if,
GOD would not hear us today because
we would not listen to Him yesterday?

What if,
GOD answered our prayers the way
we answer His call to service?

What if,
GOD met our needs the way
we give Him our lives???

What if,
We fail to share this message.... ??

God's Passion and Plan

Your word is like a lamp
for my feet and a light for my path.

PSALM 119:105

The purpose of the Bible is simply to proclaim God's plan to save His children. It asserts that man is lost and needs to be saved. And it communicates the message that Jesus is the God in the flesh sent to save his children.

Though the Bible was written over sixteen centuries by at least forty authors, it has one central theme -- salvation through faith in Christ. Begun by Moses in the lonely desert of Arabia and finished by John on the lonely Isle of Patmos, it is held together by a strong thread: God's passion and God's plan to save His children.

What a vital truth! Understanding the purpose of the Bible is like setting the compass in the right direction. Calibrate it correctly and you'll journey safely. But fail to set it, and who knows where you'll end up.

Inspiring Quotes on the Eucharist
"God dwells in our midst, in the Blessed Sacrament of the altar"
St. Maximilian Kolbe

"My Jesus! What a lovable contrivance this holy Sacrament is - that You would hide under the appearance of bread to make Yourself loved and to be available for a visit by anyone who desires You!"
St. Alphonsus Ligouri

"To speak of the Blessed Sacrament is to speak of what is most sacred. How often, when we are in a state
of distress, those to whom we look for help leave us; or what is worse, add to our
affliction by heaping fresh troubles upon us. He is ever there waiting to help us"
St. Euphrasia Pelletier

"I love so much a soul's desire to receive Me, that I hasten to it each time it summons Me by its yearnings"
Words of Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque
(France 1675)

"Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament has His hands full of graces and He is ready to bestow them on anyone who asks for them"
St. Peter of Alcantara

"The Eucharist is at the very center of our life; such was the teaching of Jesus. When commenting on the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves He told His apostles that He Himself is the Living Bread that came down from heaven. He called on the twelve for an act of faith and it was Peter who answered in the name of all: 'Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of everlasting life. We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God'

Christian faith is faith in the Eucharistic Christ!

Jean Galot, S.J.

"Do you want many graces? Go and visit the Blessed Sacrament often. Do you want few graces? Visit the Blessed Sacrament rarely. Do you want none at all? Then never pay a visit to the Blessed Sacrament"

St. John Bosco

"Ask Jesus to make you a saint. After all, only He can do that. Go to confession regularly and to Communion as often as you can"

St. Dominic Savio

Closing prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father
by William De Witt Hyde

Dear heavenly Father,
Give me clean hands, clean words, and clean thoughts;
Help me to stand for the hard right
Against the easy wrong;
Save me from habits that harm;
Teach me to work as hard,
And play as fair in thy sight alone,
As if the whole world saw;
Forgive me when I am unkind,
And help me to forgive those who are unkind to me;
And keep me ready to help others.

Good night everyone - Sweet dreams to all and may you all have a very blessed tomorrow - Thursday. God bless you all!
