Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

God gives abundantly to those who pass His gifts on to others. Lord, let
Your blessings flow in to me and then out from me. I will neither be
selfish
nor let my gifts stagnate.

Scripture for the day:

"It is God's will that by doing right you should silence the ignorance
of the foolish. As servants of God, live as free people, yet do not use
your freedom as a pretext for evil. Honor everyone." ~1 Peter 2:15-17

Meditation for the day:

Each new day brings an opportunity to do some little thing that will
help to make a better world, that will bring God's kingdom a little
nearer to being realized on earth. We can take each day's happenings as
opportunities for something we can do for God. In that spirit, a
blessing will attend all that we do. When we offer this day's service
to God, we are sharing in God's work. We do not have to do great
things.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that today I may do the next thing, the unselfish thing, the
loving thing. I pray that I may be content with doing small things as
long as they are right.

Hello my friends! Another really nice day today - but it was raining when
we went to Church this morning, but when we got out, the rain had stopped
and the sun came out. Today he thought he was scheduled to work - got
there and found out he wasn't, so he came home - we had chili that I made
earlier, and then we went shopping - did some at Bed Bath and Beyond - got a
long handled thing with a sponge for help for cleaning the tub and showers
etc. so I don't need to do much bending. I hope it works out well. Never
tried such a thing before. Then we went to Perkins in the middle of the
afternoon and had some pie and ice cream which I treated him with for his
birthday tomorrow. Lunch tomorrow will be at Lori's and she's making a
homemade pizza - they are always the best! Tonight Linus learned a lesson.
He clicked on some flashing lights on the computer advertizing a free
Walmart gift card but first he'd have to purchase something, so he ordered a
knife, then they wanted him to order another thing before he'd get it, and
all of a sudden his credit card got denied. A few minutes later his Credit
Card co. called him and told him that spam had taken place and they closed
his credit card as someone was already using it - so wow! He thanked the
man who called that they are on top of such scams and close the accounts.
You got to be so doggone careful!! He'll get a new card with a new number
in about a week. Thanks be to God it didn't get lots of purchases on the
card, that the card co. closed it in time - it's scary!!! Anyway that was a
big blessing that it got taken care of and fast.

Loving and merciful God,
I am so aware of my sins and weaknesses.
But as painfully aware of my faults as I am,
Let me also remember your tender love,
your gentle and limitless forgiveness.
I come before you filled with pain and guilt
but look into your eyes and see the forgiving love
I so long for in my life.
Help me to forgive the same way.
Teach me to love as you love.

Lenten Prayer
Father of peace, we are joyful in your Word,
your Son Jesus Christ, who reconciles us to you.
Let us hasten toward Easter with the eagerness of faith and love.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Mother Teresa Said...
Trust in the good God who loves us, who cares for us, who sees all, knows
all, can do all things for my good and the good of souls. One thing Jesus
asks of me: that I lean upon Him; that in Him alone I put complete trust;
that I surrender myself to Him unreservedly. Love Jesus with a big heart.
Serve Jesus with joy and gladness of spirit, casting aside and forgetting
all that troubles and worries you.

Because...

Because He emptied Himself of all but love,
. . . you can be filled.

Because His body was broken,
. . . your life can be whole.

Because His blood was shed,
. . . your sins can be forgiven.

Because He submitted to injustice,
. . . you can forgive.

Because He finished His Father's work,
. . . your life has worth.

Because He was forsaken,
. . . you will never be alone.

Because He was buried,
. . . you can be raised.

Because He lives,
. . . you don't have to be afraid.

Because He was raised,
. . . you can be strong.

Because He reached down to you,
. . . you don't have to work your way up to Him.

Because His promises are always true,
. . . you can have Hope!

A Bigger Frying Pan

Two men went fishing. One man was an experienced fisherman, the other
wasn't. Every time the experienced fisherman caught a big fish, he put it
in his ice chest to keep it fresh. Whenever the inexperienced fisherman
caught a big fish, he threw it back. The experienced fisherman watched this
go on all day and finally got tired of seeing this man waste good fish. "Why
do you keep throwing back all the big fish you catch?" he asked.

The inexperienced fisherman replied, "I only have a small frying pan."
Sometimes, like that fisherman, we throw back the big plans, big dreams, big
jobs, big opportunities that God gives us. Our faith is too small. We laugh
at that fisherman who didn't figure out that all he needed was a bigger
frying pan; yet how ready are we to increase the size of our faith?

Whether it's a problem or a possibility, God will never give you anything
bigger than you can handle. That means we can confidently walk into anything
God brings our way.

You can do all things through Christ (Philippians 4:13).

Nothing is too big for God. Stop telling God you've got big problems, but
instead tell
your problems to a big God!

NO MORE SECRETS

"Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will
not be known." – Matthew 10:26

My mom and I were at the supermarket doing our weekly shopping for
food and other supplies. Just as we were checking out after paying for our
purchases,
we saw an uncle of mine. Mom was about to call him but stopped in
mid-sentence. Then I
realized why. My uncle was with another woman, definitely not my aunt, with
a 10-year-
old boy in tow. No doubt they were a family. My uncle's second family, that
is. I
wondered if my aunt knew.
Meanwhile, my mom was way ahead of me — she wanted to tell my aunt
about my uncle's secret as soon as we got home.

No secret can be kept hidden forever — especially with God. Secrets
have an uncanny way of revealing themselves at the most unexpected times and
unlikely
places. If you think nobody's looking while you indulge in your clandestine
affair, think
again.
At Judgment Day, there will no longer be secrets. As we come before
our Maker, I imagine there'll be a big screen where our entire life will be
shown for
everyone to see. Every emotion, every action, every thought and every deed
will be revealed.

REFLECTION:
Are there secrets you think you can hide from the Lord?

Lord, may You flood the dark recesses of my secret life with the light
of Your truth.

May you all have a very positive and blessed Thursday - and God bless you!
