Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Hello my friends! Today I was blessed with the lady who cleans Lori's house to do mine, the gift certificate for my birthday. We got along great and she has the bestest vacuum cleaner I've seen! It's a shark, and man does it ever clean! My Oreck just vacuumed my carpets on Saturday, but what this shark picked up, I was embarrassed - I want to get a shark now! We'll see how we can swing it, but that sure would be worth it. I like the bin where the dirt goes in, and you empty it in the trash, and you never need to buy filters. It's that what really showed me what the Oreck was missing!!! She found some mold in Linus' shower, so she was using clorex there, and I never knew that before. She sure is thorough, said she always was an immaculate housekeeper, and so many told her she should do this kind of work and she finally took their advice. She used to work in a salon doing hair. But then she had to work weekends. So it was a blessing today to have my house cleaned professionally! What are your blessings? I'm sure you have many - as God is full of them!! You just have to look around and see them all, right? Inspiration time:

Move with a gentle spirit, a compassionate heart and a patient disposition

and you will accomplish much more today. Lord, grant me a quiet mind

and the wisdom to move my mountains.

Scripture for the day:

"But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate

you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone

strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes

away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs

from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. Do

to others as you would have them do to you." ~Luke 6:27-31

Meditation for the day:

We can try saying: "God bless him (or her)" of anyone who is in disharmony

with us. We may also say it of those who are in trouble through their own

fault. We can say it, willing that showers of blessings may fall upon them.

We can let God do the blessing. We can leave to God any necessary

correction or discipline. We can desire only blessing for them. We can

leave God's work to God. We can occupy ourselves with the tasks that God

gives us to do. God's blessing can also break down all our own difficulties

and build up all our successes.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may use God's goodness so that it will be a blessing to

others. I pray that I may accept God's blessing so that I will have

harmony, beauty, joy and happiness.

Recipe For Happiness

By: Joseph J. Mazzella

My Dad has sent over some of his delicious homemade

spaghetti sauce for our dinner tonight. It is such a joy to

the taste buds. He lets it slow cook for hours and always

adds the perfect amount of garlic to heighten the flavor.

You feel better just for eating it. It is for me the best

tasting sauce in the whole world. It is the same sauce

that my Grandma and Mom made every Sunday when

I was growing up. It will always be for me a recipe of pure

delight.

We all have recipes in our lives. We have recipes for great

food. We have recipes for loving relationships. We even

have recipes for success. The one recipe I think that we

are all searching for, however, is the recipe for happiness.

We all want to be happy and we all want some secret

recipe that will bring that happiness into our lives.

The recipe for happiness, though, isn't the same for everyone.

Each one of us is a unique individual. Things that would add

to the happiness of one of us would only add to the misery

of another. The truth is that each of us has to create our

own recipe for happiness. Each one of us has to make our

own dinner of joy and love.

Just remember that although each person has a different

recipe for happiness the ingredients always remain the

same. You have to take a cup of what you think, stir in

a few ounces of what you feel, and sprinkle generously

with what you do. If what you think is positive, what you

feel is joyous, and what you do shows love then you will

always create a glorious dinner of delight and happiness

for yourself and others. God has given each of us the

ability to be the great chefs of our own lives. It is up

to us, however, to create the recipes, do the cooking,

and share the meal.

1. Faith is the ability to not panic.

2. If you worry, you didn't pray. If you pray, don't worry.

3. As a child of God, prayer is like calling home every day.

4. Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.

5. When we get tangled up in our problems, be still. God

wants us to be still, so He can untangle the knot.

6. Do the math. Count your blessings.

7. God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts.

8. Dear God: I have a problem. It's me.

9. Silence is often misinterpreted, but never misquoted.

10. Laugh every day; it's like inner jogging.

11. The most important things in your home are the People.

12. Growing old is inevitable; growing up is optional.

13. There is no key to happiness. The door is always open.

14. A grudge is a heavy thing to carry.

15. He who dies with the most toys is still dead.

16. We do not remember days, but moments. Life moves too fast,

so enjoy your precious moments.

17. Nothing is real to you until you experience it, otherwise

its just hearsay.

18. It is all right to sit on your pity pot every now and

again. Just be sure to flush when you are done.

19. Surviving and living your life successfully require

courage. The goals and dreams you're seeking require courage and risk-taking.

Learn from the turtle; it only makes progress when it sticks out its neck.

20. Be more concerned with your character than your reputation.

Your character is what you really are, while your reputation is

merely what others think you are.

Chamber of Prayer

Lord God take me there

Where You and I can share

Our innermost thoughts in prayer

With all my problems bare

For as I seek Your face

You lift me with Your grace

You surround me with Your light

And give me renewed sight

Lord God take me there

Where You and I can share

Your Kingdom yet to come

And the love we have for Your Son

The peace and calm You give

Almost seems unreal

Then I remember the place

You've brought me with Your grace

It is when You take me there

To that secret Chamber of Prayer

And expecting a miracle there

You show how much You care

Lord God gently lead me there

To that secret Chamber of Prayer

Shower me with Your fountain

Miracles in answered prayer

Gloria, I see that Shark on the Q all the time and it seems to be very popular and gets good reviews. We got a
Dyson from them about three years ago, and had to have the thing repaired twice, thank goodness it was still under warranty. I would never spend that much for a vacuum again. The Shark seems to be more reasonably priced.

Shorelady, I'm praying and hoping that your new specialist can find a better solution for your DH.

gotogirl, your adorable little grandson is always in my prayers.

Counting my Blessings, and this thread and the friendship of Gloriajean and all of you are certainly among them.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Gloria, Blessings to you and your family. I'm glad you liked the maids. I have maids come every other week, they are a team of three and boy do they work and do such a good job. But I still clean up the night before they come! We gals are kinda silly to do that I guess. I use a dyson and it has the canister we can empty and with two large pets that shed constantly -I am always amazed at how much we vacuum up each week. But we love our pets and they're worth it. Your birds are a lovely gift from God. How neat they must be.

Here'slucy, sounds like you started the day out with a bang if you finished your planting. How beautiful it will all look in just a short time. Thank you for your prayers and your friendship here. I also keep a to do list!!! guess we are type-A personalities! I like to get things done.

Bobbiesue, You are a faithful prayer warrior and that is so appreciated. Thank you!

Harlene. Thank you too for your faithful prayers for those of us you don't even know. What a loving heart and giving spirit you have.

Cakers1. You are just the sweetest gal I know. You always are so positive and uplifting and have such a sweet writing style filled with special notes and hugs.

Gloria I am flying out in the morning to spend Memorial Day weekend in Minnesota. Can I stop by for a cup of coffee?

shorelady, Happy anniversary! How many years? My husband and I were married for 43 years until he passed away three years ago. I think any day that is test free and doctor free is a good one. My best wishes for your dh and his health issues.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Hello Cakers!! I'm getting one at Penny's. I searched on line and they have the one I want for 189.00 and if I need to order it, no shipping. But I thought as long as I go through the motions of vacuuming, I might as well get a good one that works!!! Shark is the one for me, lightweight too with lots of suction. It was just amazing to see the difference between mine and hers and she was not a salesperson for it!!!

go2girl - What you said about Cakers I heartly agree with you!! She is definitely a good asset to our thread! Yes, I believe that God brings the sweetest people here!! Thanks be to God. I cannot take any credit for what He does for His people. I just had one cleaning lady yesterday, never had more than one at a time in my life!! I don't think I can afford her every month though - 35.00 - but I will get her sometimes when I need her. Once I get that good vacuum cleaner, that should help a great deal in keeping the floors clean! Where are you going to in Minnesota!!! Of course - do stop in - I'm in St. Cloud! Coffee will be ready!!!

Harlene - the Dyson is good too, but isn't it a bit heavy? This Shark is lightweight, I saw yesterday - it weighs the same as the Oreck, and is good for pet hairs too, has lots of suction. I'm counting my blessings too for all of you here, and for the friendships I've gained through this thread over the years!!! What a blessing from God!!! I LOVE you people!!!

Bobbiesue - blessings to you and hope God is healing you right now.

Lucy - Glad you got your flowers planted, Linus got them all in today too as he was off work until next Wed. and he's so busy in the yard and gets so frustrated that he wears out so much faster than he used to!!! Those to do lists are very important, aren't they?

shorelady - Happy Anniversary to you and your darling husband!! Yes, how many years? Enjoy it together and thank our God for all your years together!!!
