Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Avoid using the words 'If only...' and 'I should have...'. These can destroy
your peace of mind and even your health. Lord, help me to stop punishing
myself for past mistakes and live in the peace of the present.

Scripture for the day:

"So I say to you, Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will
find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who
asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who
knocks, the door will be opened." ~Luke 11:9-10

Meditation for the day:

"Behold, I shall stand at the door and knock. If any person hear my
voice and open the door, I will come in and remain with that person
and that person with me." The knocking of God's spirit, asking God to
come into our lives, is due to no merit of ours, though it is in
response to the longing of our hearts. We can keep a listening ear,
an ear bent to catch the sound of the gentle knocking at the door of
our heart by the spirit of God. Then we can open the door of our
hearts and let God's spirit come in.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may let God's spirit come into my heart. I pray that it
may fill me with an abiding peace.

Peace of the Lord be with you all! Hope your day went well. Today I went to Dr. Mike, got adjusted and have to go back on Saturday morning. I was out of whack for sure and I'm still sore, but thanks be to God Linus can help me get the house in order again for our third showing tomorrow afternoon. He works at 11 so will help me first. Had a nice surprise - Lori was chatting with me on Facebook a little bit, and asked if we wanted to go to the Buffalo Wings place to eat she was already there, so we did, and had a great time. Love those wings! And here I thought she was chatting with me at home, no, it was from her smart phone at the restaurant! Nice little surprise plans like that make life fun! Our neighbors are having a garage sale tomorrow and we'll take some things over to sell. Then thought I'd go over there tomorrow afternoon when we have a house showing, Sammy can be with me there and I can see when they leave then.

HERE I GROW AGAIN
By Bob Perks

I sat on the hill in my yard a while and wondered about the day. I wanted to
know what tomorrow will bring and what to do with yesterday. I have thought
these thoughts a million times and each time just gave in.

But I discovered today that the answer lies not what I'm without, but what's
within. This grand revelation came from watching my dog play with a blade of
grass. We've had some heavy rains the last few days and I haven't had the
opportunity to just sit outside. But today the clouds gave way to the sun
and at least for a few minutes I was able to catch up on my thinking. It was
when I looked down at a blade of grass that I discovered the answers I had
been searching for all this time. You see, no matter how many times I cut
that grass it always grows back. It thrives if there's too much rain and
survives if there is a drought. You can walk on it and it springs back up.
You can dig it up and throw it somewhere else and it will grow right where
it lies.

If a blade of grass can do all that, why are we so fragile? You would think
that God would have made the human being a lot more durable than that. Why
is it that after a few times that life cuts you down, you decide not to grow
any more? Why is it that when we hit the dry times in our lives we curl up
and die in spirit? Why is it that when the big guys walk all over you, you
don't spring back up to where you rightfully belong? Why is it that when
life uproots your plans you can never see the potential for new growth
wherever you are? Do you think for a moment that God created a blade of
grass to be more than you?

Just like the answers were in that blade of grass, so are the answers within
you. The blade of grass was God's way of telling me to "bloom where you are
planted." Here, I grow again!

Lord, I would be the seed that you can sow
And the plant that would continue to grow;
When someone comes along and cuts me down
I will still rise, and by your grace I will bloom.

God loved the world so much that he gave his
one and only Son so that whoever believes in him
may not be lost, but have eternal life.

JOHN 3:16

He looked around the hill and foresaw a scene. Three figures hung on three crosses. Arms spread. Heads fallen forward. They moaned with the wind.

Men clad in soldier's garb sat on the ground near the trio....

Women clad in sorry huddled at the foot of the hill....faces tear-streaked.

All heaven stood to fight. All nature rose to rescue. All eternity poised to protect. But the Creator gave no command.

"It must be done...." he said, and withdrew.

The angel spoke again. "It would be less painful...."

The Creator interrupted softly: "But it wouldn't be love."

The King's Highway

Once upon a time, a king had a great highway built for the people who lived in his kingdom. After it was completed, but before it was opened to the public, the king decided to have a contest. He invited as many of his subjects as desired to participate. The challenge was to see who could travel the highway the best, and the winner was to recieve a box of gold.

On the day of the contest, all the people came. Some of them had fine chariots, some had fine clothing and fancy food to make the trip a luxurious journey. Some wore their sturdiest shoes and ran along the highway on their feet to show their skill. All day they traveled the highway, and each one, when he arrived at the end, complained to the king about a large pile of rocks and debris that had been left almost blocking the road at one point, and that got in their way and hindered their travel.

At the end of the day, a lone traveler crossed the finish line warily and walked over to the king. He was tired and dirty, but he addressed the king with great respect and handed him a small chest of gold. He said, "I stopped along the way to clear a pile of rocks and debris that was blocking the road. This chest of gold was under it all. Please have it returned to its rightful owner."

The king replied, "You are the rightful owner." "Oh no," said the traveler, "This is not mine. I've never known such money."

"Oh yes," said the king, "you've earned this gold, for you won my contest. He who travels the road best is he who makes the road better for those who will follow."

Remember those words of wisdom as you travel the road of life!

A Prayer to St. Peregrine for Sick Relatives and Friends

O great Saint Peregrine,
you have been called,
"The Mighty", "The Wonder Worker",
because of the numerous miracles
which you obtained from God
for those who have turned to you in their need.
For so many years,
you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease
that destroys the very fiber of our being.
You turned to God when the power of human beings
could do no more,
and you were favored with the vision of Jesus
coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction.
I now ask God to heal these sick persons whom I entrust to you:
(Here mention their names).
Aided by your powerful intercession,
I shall sing with Mary a hymn of gratitude to God
for His great goodness and mercy.
Amen.

Good night all -Sweet Dreams and may you find many blessings tomorrow!
