Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Hello my friends! It was a good day! The weather cooperated - and Darla's plane arrived on time and she got here this morning - it was so nice to see her again!! After we went out to eat for their Dad's birthday, I went shopping with Darla for a new pair of shoes (pumps) for her interview tomorrow. It was nice shopping with her and she found a nice pair for half the price - what a blessing! She is staying overnight and leaving in the morning for her 10:30 interview - Please pray she impresses them and they will want to hire her - we all want her to get this job so she can be closer to home! Lori's eyes continue to improve - she took in a couple clients tonight, and now she's massaging Darla for her sore back. Still praying alot for her healing! Thanks all for your prayers which are very much appreciated!!

No troubles that we face are new to this world. Guide and protect

me, Lord, and strengthen my faith and trust in You so that I will

not falter.

Scripture for the day

"I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will

believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. As you, Father,

are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may

believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have

given them, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me,

that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you

have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." ~John 17:20-23

Meditation for the day

I can find the means of coming nearer to God. That's what really matters. I

can seek the true bread of life, which is communion with God.

I can grasp for the truth at the center of all worship. This central truth

is all that matters. My worship can have this communion with God as its

purpose and goal.

Prayer for the day

I pray that I may meet God in quiet communion. I pray that I may partake of

the Bread of Life which God has provided for me.

The Beatitudes

Sometimes we hear, "Blessed are those who are able to amiss riches and those

who depend only on themselves," but Jesus says, "Blessed are the Poor in

Spirit."

Sometimes we think, "Do all you can to be happy and comfortable." But Jesus

says, "Blessed are those who morn."

Sometimes we get the message "The aggressive one will prosper" but Jesus

says, "Blessed are the Meek."

Sometimes we are tempted to think, "Those who are smart can get away with

illegal acts," But Jesus says, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for

righteousness."

Sometimes we hear,"Happy are those who are inflexable in their dealings with

others", but Jesus says, "Blessed are the merciful."

Sometimes we think, "Smart are they who are shrewd and take the easy way"

but Jesus says "Blessed are the pure of heart."

Sometimes we hear an unspoken message,"You should not tolerate anyone who is

different from you or does not think as you do," but Jesus says "Blessed are

the Peacemakers."

Sometimes we are temped to say "Only fools speak out against injustice" but

Jesus says "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake."

Sometimes we hear, "you are too naive, life is more complex than that," but

Jesus says "Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and

utter all kinds of evils against you falsely".

Help us, Jesus, to be transformed into You so that our thinking and acting

will reflect Yours. Amen.

Making Pancakes

Six year old Brandon decided one Saturday morning to fix his parents

pancakes. He found a big bowl and spoon, pulled a chair to the counter,

opened the cupboard and pulled out the heavy flour canister, spilling it on

the floor.

He scooped some of the flour into the bowl with his hands, mixed in most of

a cup of milk and added some sugar, leaving a floury trail on the floor

which by now had a few tracks left by his kitten. Brandon was covered with

flour and getting frustrated. He wanted this to be something very good for

Mom and Dad, but it was getting very bad.

He didn't know what to do next, whether to put it all into the oven or on

the stove and he didn't know how the stove worked! Suddenly he saw his

kitten licking from the bowl of mix and reached to push her away, knocking

the egg carton to the floor. Frantically he tried to clean up this

monumental mess but slipped on the eggs, getting his pajamas white and

sticky.

And just then he saw Dad standing at the door. Big crocodile tears welled up

in

Brandon 's eyes. All he'd wanted to do was something good, but he'd made a

terrible mess. He was sure a scolding was coming, maybe even a spanking. But

his father just watched him.

Then, walking through the mess, he picked up his crying son, hugged him and

loved him, getting his own pajamas white and sticky in the process!

That's how God deals with us... We try to do something good in life, but it

turns into a mess. Our marriage gets all sticky or we insult a friend, or we

can't stand our job, or our health goes sour.

Sometimes we just stand there in tears because we can't think of anything

else to do. That's when God picks us up and loves us and forgives us, even

though some of our mess gets all over Him.

But just because we might mess up, we can't stop trying to 'make pancakes'

for God or for others. Sooner or later we'll get it right, and then they'll

be glad we tried.....

I was thinking and I wondered if I had any wounds needing to be healed,

friendships that need rekindling or three words needing to be said,

sometimes , 'I love you' can heal & bless! Remind every one of your friends

that you love them. Even if you think they don't love back, you would be

amazed at what those three little words, a smile, and a reminder like this

can do.

Send this to everyone .. And never stop 'making pancakes.

John 3:3

" Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the

kingdom of God."

Prayer to Saint Joseph

We come to you, O blessed Joseph, in our distress. Having sought the aid of

your most blessed spouse, we now confidently implore your assistance also.

We humbly beg that, mindful of the affection which bound you to the

Immaculate Virgin Mother of God, and of the fatherly love with which you

cherished the child Jesus, you will lovingly watch over the heritage which

Jesus Christ purchased with His blood, and by your powerful intercession

help us in our urgent need. Prudent guardian of the Holy Family, protect

chosen people of Jesus Christ; drive far from us, most loving father, all

error and corrupting sin. From your place in heaven, most powerful

protector, graciously come to our aid in this conflict with the powers of

darkness, and as of old you delivered the Child Jesus from danger of death,

so now defend the holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from all

adversity. Extend to each one of us your continual protection, that, led on

by your example, and borne up by your strength, we may be able to live and

die in holiness and obtain everlasting happiness in heaven. Amen.

Mother Teresa Said...

Our ideal is no one but Jesus.

We must think as He thinks,

love as He loves,

wish as He wishes;

we must permit Him to use us to the full.

Meditations by Padre Pio

True servants of God have always preferred adversity as being more in

conformity with the way taken by our Head, Who worked out our salvation by

means of the cross and humiliations (Epist. IV, p. 148).

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Good morning! As of now Darla, after spending the night here, is on her way to Mpls. and it's foggy out, so we pray for her safe trip and that she gets there in time and Lori took her car to work this morning for the first time since her eye surgery. She works at nine until 2:15 and then her Dad drives her to Mpls. for her eye appointment. She says she's seeing better every day. So thanks be to God for answered prayers and for the prayers He's still going to answer! Did Darla ever look sharp this morning dressed for her interview! Thanks for praying!
