Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Hello my friends! A beautiful day here in MN - temps up to the 30's and that's above zero! A great night for us (Linus' brothers and sisters) to go out to celebrate another birthday! We all meet at the restaurant of the birthday person's choice to all get together and have a nice table reserved for us all 11 of us. We all get the birthday person a card, and we all pay for our own meal - and visit about a couple hours! Next birthday party will be on the 27th. It's been a busy day today - and both of us are feeling so much better!! At supper tonight we all had hamburgers and french fries. I don't remember the last time I had this, and it was good, and it didn't give me any nausea - so hopefully I'm over that now.

Many of life's hassles are mere tests of our strength.

Lord, help me remember that patience can often diffuse

a situation quicker than a snap response.

Scripture for the day:

"May grace and peace be yours in abundance in the knowledge of God and of

Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything needed for life

and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory

and goodness." 2 Peter 2-3

Meditation for the day:

There is only one way to get full satisfaction from life and that is to live

the way we believe God wants us to live. We can live with God in that

secret place of the spirit and we will have a feeling of being on the right

road. We can have a deep sense of satisfaction. The world can have meaning

and we can have a place in the world, work to do that counts in the eternal

order of things. Many things can work for us and with us, as long as we try

to stay on God's side.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may have a sense of the eternal value of the work I do.

I pray that I may not only work for now, but also for eternity.

Dear Lord, Please give me...

A few friends who understand me and yet remain my friends.

A work to do which has real value, without which the world would feel the

poorer...

A mind unafraid to travel, even though the trail be not blazed.

An understanding heart...

A sense of humor.

Time for quiet, silent meditation.

A feeling of the presence of God.

And the patience to wait for the coming of these things, with the wisdom to

know them when they come.

Amen.

This dense, fruity cake calls for ingredients by way of scriptural

references. Ingredients are grouped for ease of method explanation.

SCRIPTURE CAKE

Makes 8 to 10 servings

Part 1

3/4 cup (180 ml) Psalms 55:21

1 cup (250 ml) Jeremiah 6:20

3 Jeremiah 17:11

1/4 cup (60 ml) Judges 4:19

1 tbsp (15 ml) I Samuel 14:25

Part 2

2 1/4 cups (560 ml.) Leviticus 6:15

1/4 tsp (1 ml) Leviticus 2:13

1 tbsp (15 ml) Amos 4:5

1 tsp (5 ml) II Chronicles 9:9

Part 3

1 cup (250 ml) I Samuel 30:12

1 cup (250 ml) Numbers 13:23

1/2 cup (125 ml) Numbers 17:8

Heat the oven to 350 F (180 C). Lightly coat 4 mini loaf pans with baking

spray (a blend of oil and flour).

PART 1:

In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the first ingredient until

light and creamy. Add the second ingredient and beat until fluffy, about 2

minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl after the first minute.

One at a time, add the third ingredient, beating well after each addition.

Mix in the fourth and fifth ingredients. Set aside.

PART 2:

In a large mesh strainer or flour sifter, combine the ingredients listed in

Part 2. Sift the ingredients together onto a sheet of parchment paper or

into a bowl. Reserve 1/4 cup (60 mL) of the mixture.

With the mixer on low, add half of the remaining Part 2 mixture to Part 1.

Mix only until thoroughly blended, scraping the sides of the bowl as needed.

Add the remaining Part 2 mixture and mix until blended to create the batter.

PART 3:

In a medium bowl, combine the Part 3 ingredients. Add the reserved Part 2

mixture and toss to lightly coat. Add this mixture to the batter and use a

silicone spatula to gently fold it in.

Transfer the batter to the prepared cake pans, filling them three - quarters

full.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted at the center comes

out clean. Cool on a rack for 15 minutes, then remove the cakes from the

pans and cool completely before serving. If desired, dust with powdered

sugar.

Too Often

Too often we don't realize

what we have until it is gone

Too often we wait too late to say

"I'm sorry - I was wrong."

Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones

we hold dearest to our hearts

And we allow foolish things

to tear our lives apart.

Far too many times we let

unimportant things into our minds

And then it's usually too late

to see what made us blind.

So be sure that you let people know

how much they mean to you.

Take that time to say the words

before your time is through.

Be sure that you appreciate

everything you've got

And be thankful for the little things

in Life that mean a lot.

Growing old surrounded by those we love

is a privilege denied to many

Never leave behind regrets.

To Mary: Spouse Of The Spirit

Daughter of the most High,

mother of God

faithful spouse of the Holy Spirit --

yet also

Mary of Nazareth,

Joseph's wife,

my mother --

hear my prayer for grace, O full of grace.

Pray your spouse the Holy Spirit

to come upon me --

to shelter me from all ill,

to strengthen me to do what is right,

to teach me all truth.

Pray the Spirit come to me,

and abide with me,

and be within me a fountain

springing up into eternal life.

May the Spirit sustain me in sorrow,

sanctify me in life,

and receive me at the hour of my death.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray these things for me.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

We are having our Noreaster, right now, it is supposed to keep changing back and forth from snow to sleet and back to snow again, right now I think we are in the sleet phase. This started here in Pa. about 10 or 10:30 last evening and is supposed to go on for 24 hours.

I feel so sorry for those people down south, last week we had so many of the trucks from Georgia Power and Light up here helping us, and now they are getting slammed again.

Counting my Blessings.

P.S Gloria, Darla will be on my mind and in my prayers today.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Good evening!

I had to look on the calendar to see what day it was, I thought it was Wednesday. lol

We got snow yesterday, it was forecast for possible ice but only snow. Glad about that, others aren't so lucky. It was beautiful but the sun came out in full force and it is now gone. This doesn't happen often down here, twice in 2 weeks is unheard of. I promise I will never complain about a hot-humid day again. Bring on summer!

My husband will need another surgery, the MRI confirmed that. Will go to neurodoc next week for discussion and get that set up. Please keep him in your prayers. Thanks.

Thoughts and prayers to everyone. I hope you've had a good day and I pray your night is peaceful.

Talk to you again soon.

Be still, and know.

Harlene - how's the weather now? We've had strong winds here all day! Temp got up to 30 but the winds blew the snow around!

Bobbiesue - our weather man said by next week we should get into the 40's. Let them come! Warmer weather is sure to come.

Lucy - Good you didn't get the ice!! Sorry your DH will need surgery - Just give me his first name - email it to me, and I'll put him on the Glory of God prayer line. May God heal him and grant him a very successful surgery!
